It may be fine for PC but the gun was already on life support on console. You can say it's fine, but I'd wager money that you'll see that gun disappear entirely after this change.

Thank god

It would have been better to nerf the range to last word distance when hip firing
-
Why do you feel this way??? What makes the gun oppressive in your eyes???
-
The gun was broken on both PC and console. It was a needed nerf.
-
Agreed. People think a nerf is like gutting a gun and that’s just not always the case.

Crutchers defunding their crutch guns

DMT is still deadly on console. I’ve seen insane plays with it. The person using it just has to have some skill.

Edited by ♤♧♡♢: 2/4/2022 5:04:04 PMThe gun is not OP on console and never was. Strong does not equate to OP and especially OP to the point where it needed to be nerfed. This nerf is all thanks to the whiners on PC.
-
Ehhhhh The last word nerf will be due to pc players. DMT triggers people because it shut supers down really easy. And I am one that agreed that dmt needed adjusted even though the ghost bullets were the only issue with it… but that is getting fixed this coming patch to make up for the nerf.

Edited by ♤♧♡♢: 2/4/2022 11:45:46 PMA vorpal roll shuts down supers quick if you have that roll. Nerfing DMTs RoF changes it's ttk, which makes it worse than basically every other primary you normally see in this sandbox. That's overkill. In the TWAB, they specifically said the reason for the nerf because it was too easy to spam hipfire shots from long range. OK then, increase its damage falloff while hipfiring, which will make it either require more crits or more shots to kill depending on how far away it is. That is a change that addresses the problem that Bungie specifically said was wrong with it. Gimping its base ttk will have you losing duels against most other primaries in the ranges the guns share. There's not going to be a real point using this gun in pvp anymore unless you are just looking for a change or switching to a vorpal roll to try and deal with a super (which will now also be harder with the RoF/ttk nerf).
The gun is not OP on console and never was. Strong does not equate to OP and especially OP to the point where it needed to be nerfed. This nerf is all thanks to the whiners on PC.
In the right hands it is op as -blam!-. Better than almost any hand cannon that people -blam!- are op.

Edited by ♤♧♡♢: 2/4/2022 5:09:39 PMOn console? No it's not. You barely even see the gun on console. It's new hipfire ttk is not competitive with most other mainstream primaries you see in the game and you should lose duels against 140 HCs, pulses and even autos in the ranges they share against a competent player if you don't have a damage buff. And explain how it's still going to be better than a 140 HC, pulse or even auto when it has a worse ttk without an active damage buff?

Edited by RonnieOP: 2/4/2022 5:15:26 PMIt’s the 5th most used gun in the game last I checked. And console players make up the vast majority of destiny players. So while you may not run in to it much it’s def being used a good bit on consoles. It can’t rank that high on pc users alone. Console players heavily skew the data. It’s why crimson and last word are also ranked in the top ten but you hardly ever see them used on PC. Just checked guardian.gg and on both PlayStation and Xbox DMT is in the top 5 for most used kinetic weapons.
-
You just contradicted yourself. If Crimson and The Last Word can be highly ranked based off just console data, why can’t DMT be highly ranked based off of mostly PC usage rates?

Your the one claiming no one uses it even though it’s the 4th most used gun on console. Dmt is better than eyasluna in its current state. After the nerf we will have to see.
-
You can't just compare it to eyasluna usage though. Add up eyasluna, fatebringer, palindrome, ace, thorn, hawkmoon and then compare. Nothing even remotely comes close to hc usage and yet the only scout rifle anyone uses is nerfed first???

Edited by ♤♧♡♢: 2/4/2022 5:54:19 PMYou're the one apparently making the connection that usage numbers translate into a gun being OP, so using that logic, the guns ahead of DMT should all get nerfed. Usage doesn't mean that and never has. I stand by my statement that I rarely see the gun on console and there's nothing that the gun consistently does on console that makes it a menace requiring a nerf to it's overall ttk, which makes it now worse than basically every primary you're going to see in crucible. The gun was never OP on console and this nerf is not warranted.
-
Yeah I hardly EVER see DMT on console! Idk what it is, but it’s like the reticle refuses to give me headshots unless it is directly between an enemy player’s eyes. Don’t get me wrong it’s still fabulous at shutting down supers from a distance if their running at you in a straight line, but it’s nowhere nears as powerful on console as it is on PC. I will say, it’s a lot better since the buff, but I just don’t run into it enough to say that it’s a problem on console. I got melted by DMT in Trials last week ONCE during ONE game. The enemy player just couldn’t get headshots consistently, and they were playing very well.

The only reason usage was brought up was because you mistakingly said no console players use it. They do. Most people using it are on console.
-
Then where are these people? I play a ton of crucible and never see it. The gun is not OP on console and that's the point.
Then where are these people? I play a ton of crucible and never see it. The gun is not OP on console and that's the point.
You can look up the stats yourself. Unless your going to claim that all the stat sites are wrong then it’s clearly you that’s wrong here. Maybe you don’t run in to them. But factually it’s one of the top 5 guns used in console pvp. The gun was OP. Not sure how you can argue it isn’t when you never play with it or against it.
-
You can look up the stats yourself.
Source? You say it's the 5th most used but provide no source for this claim. Since you're making the claim, the burden of proof falls on you first.

If you can’t figure out how to look up weapon stats for destiny at this point I don’t know what to tell you.

Trials Report. Gun was number one last weekend, and had more than twice the kills of the next gun on the list.
