Bring back skilled based match making
It's miserable playing against people who no life this game with 10+ k/d ratios... I used to love playing in crucible, but it's been horrible going against no lifers

2 RepliesI think Bungie really has to look deeply at this. I don't know if they keep logs of matches, or can track player skill progression but they need to do some analysis on the frequency of 'called' matches, and the average increase in player skill in both CBMM and SBMM environments. On casual observation CBMM has led to very lopsided matches, and if you're on the low end of the skill curve you're often getting stomped so fast what you learn is not to play. Even being on a winning team that stomps the other leads to slow progression through the bounties. All of it leads to slower skill progression in the PVP environment. PVP in it's current state is not conducive to learning the skills to 'get gud' nor is the reward structure for playing PVP as a low skill player encouraging to participate in. A sound strategy for PVP noobs right now is to just play crucible 3x a week just to get the pinnacle reward and then go back to PVE. Forget Trials; even the Iron Banner rewards can be a tough and humiliating slog having to endure crushing matches over and over.

1 ReplyPVP is the worst experience ever!!! I used to love it. I'm an older gamer and my reactions aren't what they used to be. Why do players with a 1.5 go up against 4 thu 35 kd. I really saw a guy with a 35 kd! Glad he was on my team. Bungie bring back SBMM!!!!!!!

I know I know. But when Im mercied EVERY OTHER GAME or I mercy EVERY OTHER GAME, clearly there is a problem that needs solving. That experience is abysmal. I and my team either have a .3 or a 3. I am either paired with players of equal skill and greater against BL newbs, or I am paired with the BL newbs. Yes, 2 of you will say 'buuut Aliennnn...I had a good experience stop cryingggg' yeah great for you. This needs fixing.

Either that or the player pool is very very small despite having cross play being able to pick from 3 different player pools now. There is no way I can get matched with the same handful of people consistently even after they "Break up teams" or I leave the entire playlist, go do something else and come back only to see the same names in my lobby once again. I wouldn't even mimd if the connections were good, but it's Destiny; they're not. You could go positive one game, get absolutely destroyed the next despite being in the exact same lobby. Then you got a bunch of other nonsense like shots not registering, people having 0 health, killing you and then dying instantly like they prayed to cheat death just to kill you or some crap. 🥲 The only other time I've seen something like this happen was in CoD: MW. I got matched with the same people so consistently to the point we actually carried on week long conversations with each other over game chat because we got paired so frequently. Small world, eh?

12 RepliesNaw I’d rather not go back to having to sweat every match in a game where PvP should not be taken seriously. Nobody is getting matched against top tier players every match. Every time this comes up it’s always the lowest skilled players wanting their own level of crucible so they don’t have to try and improve.

15 RepliesUnless Bungie decides to get dedicated servers, I will always be against SBMM. Iron Banner this season is a great example of why SBMM is not good in Destiny, it takes too long to find matches for a game with Crossplay and almost every single game I have been in has had at least 1 person lagging all over the place. You want to know whats worse then going up against a player with a lot of skill? A player who is in front of you that suddenly snap teleports behind you and kills you because you were shooting at a ghost.

I play an average 1.5-2.0 and most players I play against (keep in mind I’m playing around 8 hours a day) suck most players I match barley get 1.0-1.5

Sbmm is definitely the worst thing in every game... You want sbmm fine but if will kill the pvp side for everyone. Bet if they put it in you'll cry please bring back cbmm.

I miss sbmm, but truthfully didn't see a huge difference in the competitiveness of matches even when it was active. I recall my kd barely fluctuating.

2 RepliesAfter reading every comment supporting cbmm every player has a 1.5+kd When sbmm was here the ones I checked were below a 1.0kd This just shows the people defending it are just really average players when they play against people of their own skill level so it's not surprising they defend it like it was their own child they just cannot stand losing

18 RepliesLess skilfull players want SBMM 'cos they want more balanced matches and don't get stomped. More skillful players want CBMM 'cos they don't want to sweat every match in Quikcplay like it is Trials. You'll never find a solution from this point of view. Bungie prefers CBMM in Quickplay 'cos it allows to generate more matches faster. SBMM means longer queue and so less matches. Also, Quickplay is a playlist where you basically lose nothing. Even a loss grants Grade points, Bounties completion and Loot. The only reason why Bungie could actually think to move from CBMM to SBMM [i](and since they didn't mention MM when they talked about PvP recently I don't think they're gonna do that)[/i] is because the 50-50 W/L ratio is basically managed by the Mercy Rule at this point. This is a clear sign that MM doesn't work and doesn't allow a fair and enjoyable experience. However, even if people complain about PvP they still play it on the daily basis. Which makes no sense. PvP will change for real only when people will stop playing it and not just complaining for then return in the Crucible.

People wanting SBMM gone are the people who don't want fair matches, but want to stomp every match they can. Do you know who complained about SBMM when they played with people their level? Just check out the comments. They cannot bring up a single valid point as to why SBMM shouldn't accompany CBMM. Their entire argument boils down to "well [b][i]I[/i][/b] don't want to sweat every match, therefore YOU should suffer or quit every single one because of the overwhelmingly lopsided matchmaking. Git Gud. I matter. YOU don't." They even make up some BS story about how they went from a 0.5 k/d player to 2.9 by practicing and getting stomped every match. No pumpkin, you -blam!- didn't. And no, you [b]can't[/b] improve if you're getting stomped every match and mercy'd in 1 minute.

I agree, cbmm is rubbish, I do mean that, reason being hearing all the people complaining each time I made a post of it and saw some say that cod have it I just laugh my head off. But I just want to get one thing across to some players in this post, ones who say if you want to improve go to comp. Cause they are just so excited to have stomping matches and not having to get better. I was here when the sbmm was in the game, it was hard, very hard, but it helped me improve, got me to fabled in comp. But I could never get better, I was always unable to, but do you know what at least I got better and better with time. But cbmm, I run less and less into those matches, either cause we are being stomped, or we are the stomper, I don’t enjoy those matches, it’s unfair and cheap, meaning anything I win in it is worth less then anything else. If I got redrix broadsword in sbmm I would use it and be happy I finally got it, but if I got it in cbmm, I would not have, since some and most of the matches would be easy, thought we didn’t want stuff easy.

You either go up against a stacked team or go in solo play and match up against 3 players pub stomping the lobby with 30 to 40 kills. The skill gap is ridiculous in the lobbies!
