Xenophage no longer feels like slow firing machine gun, it is more like a heavy scout rifle... I think there should be a minimum amount of rpms before anything can be considered a LMG, and this is below that number. Anyone else feel this way?
-
If they slow it any more they can call it a breach loaded musket😂

3 RepliesIt is crazy to think that they have nerfed hand cannons and shotguns multiple times and they are still king. When anything else gets a nerf it is gone and done. I just don’t understand this group they are incapable of bringing real balance to this game.
-
I don't mind it but I've always used it more for one to two shots to quickly take out something that annoys me at a long distance and it fills that role better now. Hopefully it gets a fun catalyst at some point.
-
It's not a lmg... more of a sniper rocket

5 RepliesAnother unnecessary change by Bungie.

the sad thing is... a Special Nade launcher with spike nades does more damage quicker than xeno... its so bad... lets take the Prophecy Final boss... the xeno does around 23k damage... a truthteller or salvagers does around 27-28k damage, if you know how to animation cancel and reload quicker with reload mods you shoot way faster and do more damage... xeno is now a Wasted Exo slot if you use it... it was bad at release, got buffed to be slightly decent, now it got nerfed pretty bad and its one of the exos that got nerfed big time who are falling behind specials <(aka Whisper and DARCI)

1 ReplyFor the people that think xeno got any sort of buff to any field, I have so math and words for you. First i will start with the truth, which is it got only two true buffs 1. A total damage increase if you shoot every round in mag and reserve. 2. The total damage increase makes it so you save 4-5 bullets in total (mag and reserves included) on average compared to the old version. However everything else was nerfed, that includes in pvp. Here is the exact quote:
While Machine Gun usage is surprisingly high, we felt that they weren't fulfilling their intended role in high difficulty content (ammo efficient add clear and secondary single target sustained damage). Increased damage in PvE by 20%.
Which if you pay attention is only a pve damage increase. And
Xenophage was already top notch, so didn't need to benefit from the global Machine Gun buff. It does benefit from the damage-per-bullet buff to Machine Guns, but now has slower rate of fire to compensate, resulting in slightly lower damage per second, but higher burst damage and sustained damage (since it's now more ammo efficient). Reduced rate of fire from 120 to 90 RPM. Receives less of the Machine Gun PvE damage buff.
In the this quote it says that it will benefit from the buff, but no where does it state that pvp is included. No does it change the language to imply it either. So the above buffs it did get as mentioned is only in pve. Now on to the math. But first a clarifying statement. Because the reload speed was not touched. That means when comparing burst to sustained, you can make the same generalization. math: (X=100) you can substitute any number with X. X×120=pre change (X+(X×20%))×90=post change Now take 120÷60=2 For rps instead of rpm so we get dps. 90÷60=1.5 Now multiply by 2 so we can work with whole numbers to make things easier. 2×2=4 2×1.5=3 So in two seconds pre shoots 4 shots post shoots 3. Now to solve. Using 100 as damage because it makes things easier to follow. 100×4=400 (100+(100×.2))×90=360 It is pretty obvious that post is worse but now to find out by how much. 400-360=40 40÷400=.10 .10=10% So it is a 10% dps nerf. Also this is best case because this is only in pve. Not pvp where it gets no bonus damage. Also if some smooth brain tries to tell me the burst got increased, the math above is for burst dps. And because reload speed is the same you can eliminate it from the equation, so it is also the sustained dps math.

Everyone knows its RoF was nerfed because of all the 10 complaining gambit players.
-
11 RepliesIv noticed it does more damage and keeps up with dps still. It did get the damage buff
-
yeah 90 rpm on a weapon you can hold down the trigger to fire just doesnt feel good. I made a post about it when it was annouced saying the 90 rpm changes would make it feel less fun even if they had to give it less of a buff than other LMGs Id have preferred it bc its rpm felt perfect before.
-
3 RepliesI think Xenophage should’ve been left alone. Now it feels clunky and I start yawning every time I use it.
-
4 RepliesI agree. Reducing the rate of Fire makes it less than usable, especially something fire rate dependent like Gambit or Crucible or any activity where you need 2 or more shots to kill something. It will be in my Vault for the rest of the season again. Thanks for taking another exotic off the table, Bungle.

Edited by trafficlaw: 8/30/2021 6:14:36 PMBungie should make it a blue rare weapon in the special slot. It is all it deserves after being neutered.

Honestly the nerf to Xeno, was nerfed based on skewed damage and abilities IMO. The thing that made xeno so good the last few seasons was how reliably it could spawn warmind cells to then nuke the entire map. Now with the RPM nerf, and the pitiful damage buff it got to "Compensate" for that RPM nerf, its dumpster now. IIRC livathens breath does about the same DPS as xeno now. Xeno basically became windigo of DPS weapons, "Hey you need a decent sustained DPS weapon? Xeno is your boy until you get something better" and just like windigo, into the vault it goes.
-
It also got nerfed with the slower rpm too.

Anyone else feel this way?
Parts and shards now, well done bingle We need a couple pieces of op pve gear for tougher bosses, not so much anymore. Seems like darn near every exotic quest weapon gets the b tweak, and not in a good way
-
1 ReplyYep. Nerfed and now in my vault. Things faster than xeno now...sloth, turtle, snails. When was xeno ever considered op? Never. It was good but never year 1 sleeper or whisper good.
-
Shouldn’t have give it a buff like the others and just left it’s rpm alone
-
The reload speed and RPM are so bad on it. It's frustrating.
-
Edited by Night_Fury147: 8/30/2021 1:03:55 PMOne of two things needs to be done: 1) Change Xenophage’s rpm back to what is was before season 15. Or 2) If Xenophage’s rpm is is going to remain slower, please increase the reload speed (not by a huge amount, just slightly) so that not everything is too slow on it.
-
2 RepliesEdited by E1ite Yoshi: 8/30/2021 4:06:49 AMIt was due to a nerf that the machine gun received when this season started. Bungie did this because they believed that the weapon was dishing out damage too fast even with a fire rate of 120 RPM.
-
14 RepliesIts stiol good tough. And in gambit with any buff you can one shot now apparently XD. To me this rpm/damage change is a buff. I prefer having a better total damage output rather than a ok dps but with a trash tier total damage output. Now i will be able to use it in gms XD

5 RepliesIf you're using the rapid fire function on xenophage, you're using it wrong.
-
I’m dreading testing it. Anarchy is already stuck in the do not use section of my vault right now.
-
Yeah, it feels like the worst LMG now. Very, very slow firing compare to other machine guns.
-
5 RepliesThey increase it's damage but lower RoF it's still do good damage
