Is it possible to create a PvP experience where all types of weapons have their space? Is it possible to create a PvP experience in which I can use my bow and have similar chances to the ones using a 120?
Diffferent weapons should imply only a different playstyle, nothing more. All weapons should be balanced with pros and cons. It's not only boring, but it's so poor to the game in general that the developer itself forces you to use the guns they like, not the ones you like (and, before you come with the "if you don't want, don't play with the meta", YES, that's what I do. I get into Crucible using non-meta weapons only to be slaughtered by ass-dragging shotgun apes... and it's not fun).

If I can go into the crucible using all white geat from fed d2 y1 and still place top and positive than that just shows how weak the community truely is. We played this game litteraly every way and the same people complaining are still complaining . No abilities spam, 1 super per game, low movement spd and primary only d2 y1. All light supers since the beginning of time. Every gun had its time in the meta except sidearms and bows. Thats litteraly the next meta if we keep doing this crap. Fire with the bow clean with sidearm because people believe special is too bountiful yet i have to kill someone for it. Impossible community, I don't blame them for focusing more on the next IP with a toxic community like this.

2 RepliesIt’s literally impossible to make a game with no meta, There will always be a weapon with a faster TTK or if all weapons have Amy he same TTK then the one that’s easiest to use is best

In a game with random rolls its almost impossible, there is always going to be a better Loadout or the "optimal" loadout everyone is going to be using Like in D1, they nerfed everything so bad that No Land Beyond and sidearms became meta 😂

I think you hit the nail on the head with your comments in play style. There will always be a Meta but currently there is space for every type of weapon but you have to adjust your playstyle. You can’t expect to be really aggressive with a bow and do as well as a handcannon/shotgun. I have multiple 40+ kill games and We Rans using a bow and sidearm and I actually think it’s the best anti-meta loadout currently if played correctly. Messenger with Desperado is also great anti-meta and the one I use more often just because it’s a really fun gun. There is space to make 120’s less versatile and create more use cases for other weapons but at the moment, you can definitely do well with at least one of each type of weapon.

I’ll just say this. If it was possible…..you’d think they would have found it by the Seventh year into a franchise? There will ALWAYS be a meta.

The problem is the community let content creators decide for them.

Bows can combat 120's, you just need to hit your headshots. They have very similar TTK's, it's all dependent on player skill rather than the power of the weapon. That being said, 120rpm HC's do need a nerf, I would hope a damage reduction included, as currently they can 2 shot kill with any damage buff in the game, which promotes spamming Empowering rifts on Warlocks or bottom tree striker spamming on Titans. Not fun to go against.

2 RepliesYou're right actually. In their original D1 trailers they mentioned how special weapons were supposed to be really good at their niche, but primaries were supposed be good at basically any range. The game had a few exceptions like 900 rpm autos but aside from that they followed through. A lot of the changes to primaries come from D2 Y1.

8 RepliesNo matter how much balancing occurs, a particular archetype or loadout will always be the best. The only way to achieve true balance is by forcing everyone to use the exact same thing.

Can you find a single FPS game which doesn't have a meta in the top percentage of players? No? There's your answer. There will always be SOMETHING that's statistically the absolute best option for any given situation.
Is it possible to create a PvP experience where all types of weapons have their space?
Not really no. There are simply far too many variables, and this is only amplified by random perks and abilities. Go play a game with fixed weapons if you want a balanced experience, or just accept that there will always be one or more weapons/archetypes that stand out. Tbf it's about as balanced as it's ever been ATM, if that helps.

2 RepliesMETA is simply the most used/best guns, there will always be a meta

Edited by Sweet Lew 88: 6/16/2021 9:04:06 PMI feel like all weapons are viable, there is a meta, but I can get kills with basically any gun. You need to play to it's strengths and weaknesses. If you're going against the meta, just know you'll just need to be a bit smarter or a bit better killer than your opponents.

No it’s not destiny is a to complex game to have what you want they did this in year 1 and everybody ran
-
Not on these maps

Bows aren’t bad. They just aren’t really meant to be used to dominate unless you got a god roll. They also sadly got rid of The Vow and Hush. The best pvp bows….

Edited by Astrosa: 6/16/2021 7:49:42 PMBows op Just kill the shotgun apes They have to cover ground and rush you Don’t let them

6 Replieswhat guns would you like to see tuned?
-
It’s not so much the guns, but the maps. If we got halo sized maps (which will never happen, but I can hope) then a lot more stuff would be viable
