All of that, as we agree, LFG, GM tedious playstyle, GM teams, Trials teams, isn't for everyone. And the kicker is from that far too much of the new, best loot perks, mods, etc is ONLY being put into that. It's starving the rest of the game of it. Any game mode needs incentives, but don't put the lionshare all only in one pot - only for non-matchmade groups, only for those who want a tedious - a very tedious - playstyle. Again, player choice, player diversity, is a MAJOR casualty here and it's getting worse. And it's engineered just to make money, propped up by those who benefit from it, who like tedium/gradual and fireteam play more.

  • Well that’s just not entirely true. The seasonal activity has new loot with new perks usually have new mods to. Guess what else gets new loot, strikes/nightfalls, non competitive crucible and gambit. The best mods in the game right now are the armor mods charged with light and warmind cells. Not locked behind high end content.

    Cw and Warninds(slated to be nerfed) aren't the "new, best" mods, perks, loot. I listed half a dozen examples which ARE the new, best developments which are being put into only one set of players hands.

  • So get a group and go get them! If you choose not to find a group, then don’t whine when you can’t get the loot in a group activity. If all loot is accessible everywhere then no one will do the most difficult content, causing the game to become even more stale then it can be at times and people will leave.

    That's full of holes. The suggestion that the solution for soloplaying is...to stop soloplaying is just plain dumb. It's also blind as to what is happening and changing in the game. When this degree of the new, best gear is excluding certain groups - not just all soloplaying but all non Trials groups, non GM groups, just to profit, there's a problem. Take your blinkers off. The 'difficulty' as we've already covered is more a type of playstyle of meticulous, incremental chipping away - dull and tedious to many. That should be an option -for the meticulous, dull and tedious folks- but not the only way to play to get THIS OVERWHELMING SHARE of the new and best developments. To boot, it additionally excludes ALL soloplaying. **BOTH** They don't even get the opportunity to do this amazing level of "difficulty" at all that we should all be pushed into doing or no one will do. Some game then, and some player choice. And incidentally don't refer to either in personal terms - YOU don't know a single thing about how I play - don't try to suggest you do.

    It’s a general statement, I’m not referring to specifically you. And it is not a money grab, that is a flat out lie. Trials free, GM’s free, some raids are free (or used to be) If people don’t want to do group up to get items then that’s on them. And no there are plenty of amazing weapons not in non match made activities. All I read in your statements now is Bungie just want more money and I want to play your game, my way.

    Why do you think they privelege groups then? Why make activities - think Harbinger, etc - not scale to player numbers? Why weekly throw free materials at us for mere clan membership? Why put *this level* of the new and best gear ONLY in the hands of premade fireteams? Why so much extreme "encouragement", promotion and privelege and heavy penalty for those who aren't? Because it's... MASSIVELY PROFITABLE for them to do so. Trials is free...for groups. GM free...for groups. And that group forming, that friends involvement, that Clan membership and the clan participation rewards and inactivity threat of booting...all increases participation in the game. More participation, more purchases. And the net gain is more than worth their while or they simply would do the complete opposite. None of this is contraversial, or debatable - it's the facts why games companies load their games this way. If it wasn't, you'd have Adept weapons available to be earned in equally difficult solo activities, basic game scaling, no clan bonuses, etc, etc, etc.

  • You wanna know why. Because more people enjoy group content. Social aspects of games keep them going. You think WOW would still be going if it was a single player game? The answer is no. This game would have died years ago if everything was available to everyone

  • Social aspects keep them going. Exactly. It makes them money. And that is why they give this level of promotion and privelege. They load the dice. Now the issue here is not that, all basics, but the DEGREE to which this is worsening and eroding player choice further and further. Again, for those who like playing those activities then, selfishly, there isn't a problem. That doesn't mean there is just no problem with this shift for everyone. Sunsetting has exacerbated this undoubtedly. Think the first examples, of one of the only kinetic PvE shotguns. But again this is something Bungie should be cognizant of rather than over playing the exclusivity card on.

  • I think we can meet halfway on this. I still think there should be loot incentive behind these activities, but it sounds like your more disappointed or however you want to phrase that, in the fact that there is one of “x” type of item and it is locked behind group activity?

    Absolutely. There should of course be incentives for all the different activities. But it shouldn't push so very hard to be of one kind and barre the others. Especially in PvP, this is an arms race. And that elitist (GM, Trials), exclusivity(premade groups) consistently gives those significant advantage. The vanguard of this arms race is all or primarily all set up this way. There are other ways to do this, of course, other than excluding but this seems to be their strategy of choice.
