The ninja were considered cowards with no honor, who hid in shadows rather than fight in the light. In a time when warriors were considered more than fighters, the ninja were just assassins. Lowest of the low. Why they are glamorized as something other than the sneaky, underhanded women and children killers is such a mystery to me. Let them be judged by their actions rather than their words. Just a lil knowledge for you ignorant souls.

6 RepliesA little knowledge for your own ignorant soul: there is only one (maaaybe two) ninja left. He’s an engineer an has refused to pass on the arts of ninjitsu because he feels the ninja is no longer useful to society.
Sorry, all out of salt.
10 RepliesBushido has been heavily romanticized and what we think of it today is not what it was then. Fun fact: Most ninja were or were trained by samurai. "Honor" was defined by loyalty to one's lord. If said lord ordered you to poison a water supply and kill civilians, the "honorable" thing to do would be exactly that. If you disobeyed the order it was execution or, if you were a samurai, you might redeem yourself via seppuku. The REAL dishonorable ones were the ronin whose master had been defeated in battle. (If the lord died of natural causes or by some freak accident, you'd be free to go unless he had an heir)

16 RepliesSo you read one guy’s opinion and are taking it as fact. Ok bub good going, nice critical evaluation skills you have there. Tell me more about how one philosopher/warrior dictated the entirety of Japanese thought on ninjas, when obviously he would have a natural tendency against such a combat form him being so fond of traditional one-on-one duelling.

22 RepliesThe societal change you somehow missed was the discovery of America. Wars were fought in fields, they would line up in rows about 10-20 feet apart pull out their guns and shoot at the other side. The survivors would reload, then repeat until one of the generals declared a retreat. But when the French and Indian war began, the Indians called the Europeans fools and taught them how battles were fought in America. You wear camouflage paint, put leaves in your back, hide in the trees, ambush the enemy, shoot them from hidden locations, change hiding spots in between shooting if you can. Clearly one of those ways of fighting is better than the other. Because one doesn’t take your soldiers and order them to stand in front of the enemy’s loaded rifle while wearing bright colored clothes that will always stand out in a crowd. This change in war was reluctantly accepted by Europeans, and they brought it with them to colonize Asia. I want you to imagine a fight between one of the “honorable warriors” you mention and a camoflauged person with a gun. The warrior will always lose.

A true ninja would blend with a crowd and act as a spy, it was a job often filled by an experienced Samurai, in case you want actual knowledge of Japanese culture. If you mean bungie's moderators well then take that up with bungie. Begone ye non-Offtopickle!
Also......................
1 ReplyNinjas are scum
-
True that. Most Ninja’s were peasants who received a small pittance for spying for the opposition. Bungie’s Ninjas don’t even receive compensation.
