7 RepliesWhy jolly gee, Thorn isn't Thorn, but it's better. Ace is DEFINITELY a far cry from the OG Ace literally no one used, but people don't complain. Hardlight is way different and improved. No Time to Explain is not No Time to Explain.
Why it sure is quite odd that you never saw posts like OPs for those weapons
Seriously. Let the old HM go. Lucky rounds were a stupid perk that should never have existed that removed any skill that could have existed with HCs in D1, simply because RNG determined whether or not your opponent died in 3 shots or just 2. The new thing is better and takes pretty good thinking to use to the best of its ability. Of course, thinking isn't something the Destiny community is famous for, especially its players.

84 RepliesWhen will you people start realizing that you're all being scammed? Like severely outplayed. Like it's not even funny and kind of sad. Like holy shit. One of the biggest griftings since EA's suprise mechanics, the only difference here is that you actually defend this mediocrity because you "love". Pathetic.

It is a weird vibe for sure. Iv spent a LOT of time with the Hawkmoon that holds 13 in the chamber, and as soon as I got my hands on it in D2 I knew I couldn't really use it the way I did in Destiny. Don't get me wrong, it's actually much more viable in most content right now than it ever was in Destiny, even including its reign of terror in the crucible as a PSN exclusive. In fact the changes to it's perk design really aren't what puts me off, it's super cool to see it have a little more PvE viability (though 5 shots less in the mag is a lil jarring). What really gets me is the feel and sound of it. Dunno if its just me but nearly all weapon sounds in D2 sound seriously weird, very puny and subdued. Maybe I am just an audiophile nerd, but sound design is a huge part of what makes me love Destiny, and I wonder if other folks find D2 a little lacking compared to it. I know it sounds like a ridiculous complaint and I dont wanna be one of THOSE people on the forums but it's one area I really feel is overlooked, and to me it's a game changer.

4 RepliesSure feels like (or better than) Hawkmoon if you use it right. D2 Hawkmoon has better stats all around. D1 Hawkmoon two tapped once every 4 to 6 rounds (sometimes more or less, RNG) and one tapped on rare occasion. D2 Hawkmoon two taps after 6 rounds have been fired, assuming you're accurate. D2 Hawkmoon one taps after 7 rounds, also assuming you're accurate. So in short, D2 Hawkmoon is literally better than D1 Hawkmoon and consistently does the same thing with less RNG if you are accurate and use it correctly. I don't know why people are complaining unless they just aren't using it right.

Well either you get it like this or you don’t get it at all, Bungie has made it clear luck based perks have no place in this game anymore. That being said, I disagree that the Hawkmoon we got isn’t comparable. The damage bonus was moved to a skill-based yet predictable version that still captures the essence of having an important shot but still trying to always hit your headshots to get the most out of that important shot while also moving the RNG element to the random rolls. It’s identity doesn’t feel completely absent and personally I think this Hawkmoon is a much better designed and more interesting exotic. But that’s just an opinion.

To me, at base it's a front loaded Austringer for those who didn't get to play Menagerie or for those who got one and it's been sunset. I mean you can't argue Hawkmoon doesn't come out the gates with incredibly high stats in just about every category. The random rolls make it (potentially) the only RNG exotic that is sunset proof and a very good "jack of all trades master of none" lil Handcannon for everyone. Should the stats get even crazier when we can farmthe random rolls, my opinion may differ but even so, I think it'll hold it's place regardless. The Final (Paracausal) Round payload is a bonus but in most cases, not very practical. That being said it does feel nice to get 2 taps or even 1 taps when it pans out. I still think that in general, Ace or Thorn will probably be a better pick, as Bungie absolutely loaded that thing and Thorn will always be good due to the dot tracking and recov denile. There is very few Handcannons that can or will Dethrone them. Even Last Word is up there if you use Controller or can manage it with M&K. Sturm (& Drang) is also very very good and when paired, especially now, Sidearms are extremely deadly and Sturm gets 2 taps left and right with those overload bullets. Sunshot has the fastest base ttk being a 150 and very good range with the catalyst but I hear that alot of people don't like it mainly because it's an energy weapon and well, Felwinter and Adored are energy too so.... Ariana's Vow is also good as the "Desert Eagle" of Destiny but it's an energy weapon too and you kind of need to play it like a scout or sniper to get the most of it. Unless you do that cheesy quick access sling bow body shot nonsense but you could so the same with a 120 handcannon and free your exotic for whatever else. That's my thoughts on Hawkmoon and it's place as an exotic handcannon as it has been presented in D2 for anyone that cares.
-
I think it’s a good interpretation of it. RNG with the random perks and the ability to one and two tap in PvP. It’s my favourite exotic and wish it could have been a like for like of the original D1 gun but it would have been OP.

6 RepliesYea kind of a bummer. Original hawkmoon was a gun anybody could use and have fun with. You just got random rounds that did bonus dmg. Nice easy simple and effective. New hawkmoon is very labor intensive and just kind of annoying to use. It's a gun that only a tiny amount of players will be good with or even enjoy.
-
3 RepliesDon't you guys look at other forum posts before posting your own? There's a stupid amount of these posts on the front page of the forum. It'd be so much more effective to just have one post about it where everyone has their say than all these countless copycat posts. As far as the gun goes, yes I had D1 Hawkmoon and I actually really like this version. It makes more sense to know where the powerful bullet will be than for it to be random. It makes more sense to have to earn that powerful bullet. It makes sense to have random rolls on the gun so you can get an even better version. You all just moan about anything and everything at this point.

2 RepliesAce of spades isnt the same, no time to explain, thunderlord, hard light, lord of wolves, whisper of the worm and the numerous armor...
-
It would be ok if the reload speed was insane.
-
People would have whined OP just like they did in D1 when it was nerfed bro no need to do that again. Better to just do a new high skill high reward perk like they did.
-
You're right, it's better
-
Fakemoon
-
This gun is not actually hawkmoon, but a reforged effigy of it using a shard of the traveler. They acknowledge it's not hawkmoon.
-
4 RepliesBungie is never going to bring back RNG-based damage perks. So you were never going to get original Hawkmoon back
-
1 ReplyThis gun is hawkmoon they just redid the perk it has just like they did with thorn. Nobody complained about thorn when it came out and it's just as different from it's original as hawkmoon is.
-
4 RepliesWhat made you guys think Luck In The Chamber was going to on this gun in the first place, there was a reason Bungie removed it from the game in the first place. RNG based damage = Fun for the user but horrible on the receiving end

Edited by LordD2: 12/9/2020 10:23:12 PMCompletely agree and I really don't get Bungie's rationale for doing this. Did they really think that all we really cared about is a gun that looks like, any maybe feels like and is otherwise Hawkmoon in name only? Maybe they thought otherwise, but I and a lot of other people including the big name streamers seem to agree this bares little to no resemblance to the original Hawkmoon in functionality. As I recall there was some fear Hawkmoon in original form would just be too OP for PvP in D2. To me that could have been easily remedied to keep the spirit of the weapon alive. Sort of compromise between the fully upgraded Hawkmoon and the base one. I would go slightly above base magazine size, but one or two at most, random, high damage bullets in the mag. Anywho, yeah don't do this again in the future Bungie. That being slap the name and skin of an old exotic on to a something that is functionally not even close to the original.

Its the best handcannon in the game..

1 ReplyI actually don't mind the new perk, but I can't be the only one who feels that bungie completely removed the gambling theme from the gun that it had in D1. If you ask me they should have reduced the mag to seven rounds, given the lucky seventh round the damage buff and made the secondary perk an auto-reload on a kill with the seventh bullet. For example the main perk would be called "Lucky 7s" which works the same as the paracausal rounds perk, and the secondary perk would be "Jackpot" in which kills with the "Lucky" round refunds the magazine. At least with these perks the gun would have a interesting gameplay loop of getting precision kills, using the seventh bullet for extra damage, and then starting the whole process again with a refunded mag. I don't know about you but it seems bungie totally missed the mark on this redesign, especially excluding the "Lucky" theme.
-
It’s better than it currently exists in D1. What’s your complaint?
-
I think its fantastic
-
I think the changes to the weapon were done pretty well. The power fantasy of Hawkmoon was the 1 shot potential in PVP. Given the removal of RNG based perks, they needed to find a way to keep the power fantasy without it being overpowered. The new version of Hawkmoon provides 1 shot potential by rewarding players for their accuracy instead of by chance. If you were hoping for Luck in the Chamber, you're out of luck.

think about gms where 2 people have this weapon and divinty is on a champion. it would do the job of special weapons and leave you the ability to run other specials

4 RepliesThey should've called it "Crows Call" or something stupid like that.
