Stand on another big plate to make another bridge. Stand on another big plate to keep bridge. King's Fall. Stand on big plates while someone runs to white ball. Stand on big plate to close a portal. Stand under 2 big plates to not die. Wrath of the Machine. Balls. Many balls. Get big red ball. Throw at boss. Throw more balls at boss. Shoot big glowing ball. Get ball. Now throw balls at red [redacted]. Now kill more big glowing balls, get balls, throw at boss. Leviathan. Take balls to flower. Stand on plate for more damage. Grab ball and run around. Stand on plates, throw balls, jump, pass around ball for chest, stand on big plates, get ball, stand on small plates, throw ball, get on big plates, grab ball, throw ball at ship. Yes. Get on big plates, get ball, pass ball, throw ball, get on big plates, get caballed, get off big plates, get on big plates, get balls, get on small plates, stroke, throw balls, get on big plates, throw balls at ships, get balls, throw balls at hand, throw balls at boss. I think you get the point.

Not only that but you also have to have defend your ghost at the same time while Atheon teleports some of you Fireteam to another section where they will fight not one giant Hydras but three giant Hydras with three yellow bars and three rotating shields and you can only fight them when three of the fireteam members who arent teleported have jammed three orbs into the platform before it disappears.

You can't stop me![/spoiler] I still say that, overall, the King's Fall raid is the best raid either game has ever had. Just the right amount of ads and crowd control coupled with puzzles and timing. And the challenges? Perfection. Not too easy but not rip-your-hair-out infuriating, either.

Bungie: *throws a dart* motes it is! Also Bungie: *spins a wheel* standing on plates again! Huzzah no extra coding work! Ctrl C, Ctrl V, baby! I personally think the best bosses are built around the environment killing the boss, with the player affecting those changes, rather than just doing some chintzy/lazy stand on a plate, get buff, shoot boss. Rinse. Repeat. Man, I should go reinstall God of War again to remember what playing an incredible game feels like.

I dont even rhink Bungie made the ball mechanic. VV did with Spire. They just leech off work done by better studios.

How about a brief lever QTE to extend a bridge while some ads attempt to overun you. (it'll keep you and your team alert throughout that segment) Or perhaps moving blocks around to open/clear a path Labyrinths that players need to use specifc teleporters to get through? Just off the top of my head with no hard thinking or focused on.

VoG had unique relic and oracles Crota had a sword Kings Fall had plates Wrath had balls Leviathan didn't really have its own running mechanic, more mixing things up and integrating with combat Eater had craniums (lasers) Spire had balls (but behaved differently from previous mecshnics) Last Wish had a unique relic and symbols Scourge had charges and tanks Crown had a very unique mecahnic that cant really even be put in its own category Garden had tethers They are not shy of creativity in endgame content. Even the dungeons have their own unique mechanics as well. I doubt they will revert back to just balls and plates when they always make unique raid experiences.

The Aegis to me is still the best relic they ever made. I would fly all over the map with that thing and it had 3 powerful functions. It’s funny how the raid relics have essentially gone backwards since Y1 D1.
