Sunsetting Sucks!
I just want to share my opinion. I know I'm not the first and hopefully I won't be the last. Bungie previously said they want us to feel invested in the game. Obviously they mean like invested with Bernie Madoff, where our investment just disappeared. All the hours working on rolls, obtaining pinnacles etc. All wasted. So Bungie can just re-skin into oblivion. Making us play the way they want us to play. Power Creep, my muscular buttocks. This is just some lazy development.

The sun is setting/darkness is coming it's happening. This will be a huge dlc its d3, I bet there will be new weapons and armor at every vendor in the tower, every planet, raid, season pass, Europa, old Russia, crucible, gambit, season pass a dungeon and iron banner. There is a new subclass and affinity they need to flesh out all weapons for stasis. Many weapons may be reskins and weapons that we've already had but there will be a lot of them.

I don't give a flying shit. I'll play the DLC, see if it's good. As a massive bonus, a lot of folks are real -blam!-in mad about it, which makes this ever so slightly more enjoyable.

Don't grind for weapons anymore. Don't do quests that take days or weeks to fulfill for hard to earn weapons. Use whatever weapons you get from fast turnaround activities you enjoy, like a couple strikes. Do a few bounties but just sort of enjoy the gunplay. Perfect builds, weapon rolls, shaders, basically any reward in this game should just be shrugged off because they'll be sunset or vaulted. Play for an hour and turn it off, and never pay for content again. Play for F R E E.

6 RepliesMost of us are pi55ed off with sunsetting, but no matter how many posts go on here about the subject, bingo are and will not listen, so really, everyone is wasting their time posting about it. BUNGO DOESN'T CARE ABOUT ITS PLAYERS.

1 Replyagree that sunsetting kills motivation to grind or repeat stuff I don't really want to do anyways also really hits hard on the LONG pinnacle style gear grinds, they seem pointless and not worth it as it could take 3-4 seasons to finish and by then it is effectively worthless

Weapon rolls spent countless hours grinding and armor sets that sink up stat wise perfectly all out the window. It’s a bunch of BS. They have two extra months. Hopefully this has something to do with it.

I don’t mind sunsetting. I actually like grinding for new stuff. I never understood how people are ok using the same exact load out day in and day out for 2 years then complain there isn’t any content. A friend of mine words “So why would I use Hero’s burden or anything for that matter when I could use Ikelos or Recluse?” I respond “well hero’s burden used to be meta at one point” and he replies “well this goes to show you new stuff can be better than old stuff. Guess people just can’t move on idk”. He has a point. Every dlc we have said “oh this weapon is the best” for all we know the next round of dlc weapons could be God tier out the gate. I’ll deeply miss my curated Kindled Orchid but whatever comes next I’m game. I’ll be mainly using Hawkmoon anyway 😎

2 RepliesThe only way bungie will listen to the community about this is if we dont buy the expansion which is mostly going to be stuff we already earned anyway that they decided to take away from us (sunsetting) . So do yourself a favor and keep your money and find a different game because its been getting steadily worse from the time they pulled this seasonal set up until now.

3 RepliesI don’t think it’s that big of a deal. Will I miss my mountaintop and recluse in PvE? Probably. But I’m excited to see what they come up with to replace them. And if I’m honest I crutch them a bit. The armour issue did bug me a little but if you’re that bothered about min/maxing and high stat gear you’re probably raiding. If you’re raiding at the moment you can literally farm high stat gear that will stay relevant for a long time. I’m also looking forward to having an excuse for completely emptying the vault of things I never use.

Yeah there's no point in investing time into this game furthermore. At this point they're just finessing people into blindly accepting their strategy to reuse and recycle content and have them be okay with it. Unfortunately they will never endorse player freedom and a rewarding gameplay experience. They just want to stretch out the lifespan of this game as much as they can with as little effort as possible for all the kids that will still dump cash into this trash lmao

Sunsetting in ttk in d1 made me walk away from the game until age of triumph when year 1 gear came back with updated light, now sunsetting in d2 also made me walk away and unlike in d1 when I was a student with time to regrind my gear now I dont think I will return if I miss to many seasons, so I wont be likely to return and it makes me more sad and dissapointed than angry. Bungie was the one to ruin destiny for me in the end and even though I prefer destiny to warframe I ended up migrating to warframe because all my grind there is meaninful and weapons last forever.

1 Replyaww, i can’t cheese people in trials with mountaintop, cry me a river, we need sun setting so we aren’t using the same load out forever, and reskinining weapons is alright as long as you don’t do it for every gun in the game. kinda like bringing back a gun from d1 in my opinion
