Title really says it all.
Catalyst quests are pitiful, lazy development feature and an artificial playtime extender because Bungie knows they do not have the capability to make content people want to stick around to play - so instead, they force it. And when you finish the Catalyst Quest grinding, your reward?? More blam-ing grinding because it gives you an incomplete Catalyst that now requires yet another 400+ kills with said weapon.

5 RepliesI thought they finally learned to offer 2 paths, one PVE, one PVP. But no, every PVP hater has to do a 100 Grenade launcher kills. Good stuff Bungie.
-
Don't do them then. Not like anybody is forcing you right? I mean unless you're being held a gunpoint by bungie.
-
24 RepliesGet a grip you little turd. Not everything in the game has to be done in a day. The quests are fine and they’re optional. Bounties are fine, they’re optional. The game is fine. It’s optional. Your opinion has been made redundant by logic.

At least with the quest you know what you're getting and when you will get it

Edited by PoolsidePoseidon: 6/26/2020 4:39:55 PMI don't mind catalyst quests since they all seem to be along the lines of, use this gun to kill people until you've used it long enough to have some semblance of mastery over the weapon. most of the kill catalysts are either 500 or 1000 kills, by which you should have obtained some comfort with that weapons, recoil pattern, range, etc. EDIT: My bad, I failed to realize you were referring to the seasonal exotics we are just given, not the exotics we earn and then hope we find catalysts for.
-
Catalysts are supposed to reward you for bonding with the weapon. Good bonds don't just happen overnight. They take time, skill, and effort.
-
8 RepliesI barely get kills in crucible now a days and they want me to get grenade launcher kills. THEY THOUGHT. 😭🙃🤣
-
Lol I still don’t have the eriana’s catalyst quest done from however many seasons ago, not to mention having to restart the Tommy’s matchbook one cause of the bug
-
I don't grind them at all. They'll get done in 5 years through normal gameplay. At least I know my exotics are going to get a boost down the road.
-
I think the catalysts should be a random drop from the seasons activity, kind of like 4th Horsemen, any other ideas?
-
At least you can get 1k+ kills with witherhoard in like half an hour at sorrows harbor lol
-
Edited by everwilling: 6/26/2020 1:13:58 PMSounds like a you problem! Usually get mine done easily with doing activities and bounties .
-
Never heard sleeper catalyst?
-
Only issue is ones for seasonal Exotic weapons after that season has expired. People who didn't even have the exotic need to ''Get Ciphers'' then the masterwork has to be done w/o boosters. As someone who has all of them and their catalysts complete, I feel they should just be added to the regular exotic pool and their requirements for the catalysts toned down. It just feels like an unfair grind for those who didn't have the time and these weapons all pretty good if you ask me.

2 RepliesEdited by Valhalla: 6/26/2020 3:00:24 AMthe only catalyst unlock quest that sux is erianas vow

Catalysts are wholly created to double the grind A: To actually get one to drop Then B: to complete Then finally, you get a version of the exotic weapon that should originally released like C: Then Bungie nerf it
-
I want more. Well thought kut quests for each and every one
-
get rid of cat quests.
-
We used to have to level up exotics and that was a grind and a half. Catalysts need to be a grind
-
29 Repliesand don’t forget... if you don’t finish catalysts, another catalyst won’t drop. It’s been proven.
-
Karen, I've said this like 3 times already. the manager went home for the night. He'll be back in the morning. go home.
-
You expect a zero hour quest for every catalyst? Go cry somewhere else.
-
Firmly disagree. If you force yourself to grind the quest, then yes, it can feel this way. I finished my Witherhoard quest two weeks into the season, and wasn't even aiming for it. I simply grabbed my bounties for Cruci, Strikes, and Gambit to complete the weekly bounties + powerfuls, and just got it over time. I DO, however, agree that the number of kills required to complete the catalyst itself is a bit much. 700 for Eriana's Vow? 1000 Cabal for Skyburner's? Come on now, that's actually ridiculous.
-
4 RepliesYou know playtime needs to be squeezed out of everything when they make everyone redo the matchbook catalyst whether you already had it or not.
-
5 Replies400 kills with Tractor Cannon. Took a while.
