I'm all for peaceful protesting, but we had to close early and barricade the store for the fourth time this week. The first time they showed up we closed because they were fighting outside (physical) and tossing customers carts full of stuff onto the ground before the police showed up. The other three times we had to close as a precaution just in case they showed up again (we are apparently on their list of stops). It's not even the local groups doing this, its people from different states and counties over doing it.
I'll tell you, it's getting old. We can all agree that it Floyd's death was an act of evil and there should be justice (which there is) but us having to close the store early because theres a risk of looting is crazy. All i want to do is go to work and help my community, I cant help them if we have to close to protect them and ourselves.

1 Reply"Items can be replaced, lives can't" Well how about livelihoods during a global pandemic? How easy is that to replace?

6 RepliesIt ain’t about Floyd anymore. The cop is being charged already. The cop that had previous complaints and issues but was never dealt with in a city run by a democrat who doesn’t mind violence and looting on behalf of his name. It’s easy to go out and protest (riot). It’s easy to make political posts on behalf of a hurting community and feel good about themselves for doing so. BLM is a joke. We don’t need special pity. We’re all Americans. Stop acting like we need special treatment. Posting black-out pictures don’t solve anything. Police brutality happens across the board. Whites. Hispanics. Asians. Arabs. Blacks. Hell even animals. That’s another thing too. I hate police brutality, but then you got those rioters out there giving them ptsd and motivation to be aggressive. And that’s another thing too. The media just hyper-focuses on the bad. And they hurt the black community too when they claim BLM only when there’s white-on-black violence. They just push a racist narrative that fuels the illusion of systematic racism. Never mind that there’s lots of black-on-black violence, that there’s violence going on by white far-left extremists hijacking the peaceful Floyd protests, which the media isn’t even admitting too. Racism is always gonna exist, just like all evil will. But flipping out about it like you’re all surprised and blown away by it is ignorant. It doesn’t justify destroying other people’s lives and businesses. These riots are all about people just taking advantage of the situation to act like lawless animals. Sorry, end rant. Just frustrated and venting. Not mad at you. I’m sorry to hear your job is affected by all this senseless violence.

2 RepliesI understood the riots of 1992. The police involved were way out of line, and they were acquitted. People had a right to be upset. This is another matter, though. The cops were all fired, and the one who did the killing was charged. Justice was being served. I think this was less a protest and more just anger and frustration at being caged up like animals for the past two months. Be that as it may, the rioters' actions are totally unacceptable. The moment they turn to violence and destruction, they become the problem, not the solution.

2 RepliesI wonder if anyone on these forums has actively participated in the riots sometimes
