Pretty much as the title asks.
I never did quite follow why they removed that feature as I personally at least enjoyed being able to swap the elements of my energy/heavy weapon when I wanted since I always try to run all 3 elements across my loadout, e.g my Warlock runs a void subclass so I use a solar fusion and an arc rocket launcher for elemental coverage, so naturally if i'm only after certain elements on weapons my choice gets limited rather fast. Maybe this is just a thing I did? lol.
I dunno it was just something I was randomly thinking about today and I think it would be nice if it returned if we ever get some kind of update to guns like we're getting for armour lol.
Edit: Some people have suggested instead let the element of each weapon be randomly rolled when we get the gun, I too like this idea in case we don't get the system back how we had it.

3 RepliesEvery weapon in destiny would be void to pair it with tractor cannon lol.
-
I just want to put weapon mods on my Year 1 gear..
-
1 ReplyYear 1 1.0 Year 2 1.5/mods 2.0 Year 3 armor 2.0 Year 4 weapons 2.0

In Weapons 3.0 Can I put KillClip on Luna's Howl? 🤔 Good ol Two Taps again??
-
Edited by Mizzuh: 8/21/2019 3:58:33 AMI believe they won't do this in order to mix up the weapons you use. If you could change burns on a weapon you would put your preferred layout on and never change it. I would run the best weapons forever, and change it to match every activity.
-
4 RepliesEven though it would mean a more confusing UI, they should just allow us to arm any 3 weapons we want, no matter the ammo economy.
-
2 RepliesBut then they couldn't shoe-horn us into specific activities.... Seriously though, think about it... I'll use bows as an example: Subtle Calamity: Void - random drop from ANY source. Arsenic Bite: Arc - random drop from ANY source. As for a SOLAR bow... Tyranny of Heaven can only be obtained from the Last Wish raid and The Vow, which was a Crimson Days exclusive and is no longer available. And furthermore, why is it that all of the Solar Exotic heavy weapons are tied to a quest or raid? Does Bungie have some hidden bonus for Solar elements?

Edited by 4GiRLH45N0N4M3: 8/20/2019 3:11:48 AMOr not lock certain weapons behind dumb ass activities? Seriously the only weapon I wanted from the Menagerie is locked in the Heroic version. Which is dumb they could have made Masterworked curated rolls of weapons go there.

Edited by AbsolutZeroGI: 8/19/2019 11:20:45 PMI would love this but with a caveat that all weapons have a stock element and changing the element requires resources of some type (maybe the same as infusion?). That way it's not like a "I can swap my element 18 times a day" kind of thing. It would need to be gated to some extent because it would make some exotics useless since changing element is an exotic perk in a couple of weapons. On the other hand, I'm proud to own one of the few remaining void sins of the past and that feels like a nice collectible. I'm neutral. Wouldn't complain either way.
-
11 RepliesThe idea of locking element types is mainly a result of Tractor Cannon. Tractor Cannon + Void IKELOS Shotty was as broken as anything that Destiny has ever seen.
-
3 RepliesEdited by Icon: 8/19/2019 10:11:10 PMI find it hilarious that all the people blaming Tractor cannon and ep shotgun for the removal of burn choices forget you need to equip the weapon. It’s the fault of people who abuse meta because they can’t apparently use “anything else”. Same as everyone running mountain top and recluse or any meta for pve. The nerfs are on you not the weapon. If people actually used their own brain and felt comfortable to run what they enjoy, maybe the meta wouldn’t change so much. Food for thought And yes I would like random rolled elements back like D1

It gave us more variety. So yeah. Bump my good sir 🙃

5 RepliesI personally don’t desire this change, because I personally threw different elements on all types of weapons to prepare for this. And if they bring back rotating elements, my special elemental weapons will lose their exclusivity. I prepared for these moments, and I would like to keep it that way.
-
1 ReplyMight as well just make rolls static at that point. Oh wait that’s where we started and hated it
-
1 Replyi really liked that system where we had the ability to switch the elements on our guns, it was so convenient. but good things dont last long in this game
-
2 RepliesI dont see them doing the 2.0 thing to weapons. People play this game for hours on end hoping to get that perfectly rolled weapon, the same can't be said for armor though.
-
1 ReplyThat would give players too much freedom. Can't have that. I mean why do you think our loadouts in armor 2.0 are getting limited by affinity?
-
I think it would be an incredibly even trade to give the option of a burn mod or weapons mod. Ya gotta choose. Either get the different element or get a weapon mod. That way it’s an actual important choice. Either match the enemies shield and burn or lose the ability to extend rampage for instance.
-
3 RepliesI miss raid weapons with rolls exclusive to that weapon and were static.. Why did they make raid weapons random rolls that were no better than normal legendaries
-
5 RepliesI think weapons 2.0 should allow you to buy a white (common) version of a legendary weapon from the gunsmith and the to unlock perks you must earn exp and level the weapon similar to D1 weapons, but when you hot different thresholds it unlocks a perk node and then you can buy the exact perk/masterwork you want from the gunsmith and place it in that node. Once fully masterwork then a unique perk node will open and you can add semi exotic perks like heal on reload, rate of fire boost, partial mag refill on a kill.
-
I don’t think we need a weapons 2.0 like armor 2.0 but I would enjoy seeing raid specific perks and random rolls on D2 y1 guns. Mostly just update y1 guns
-
Edited by TJ_Dot: 8/19/2019 2:00:36 PMTractor took away the best thing about Y1 Now I'm pissed I don't have a solar Quickfang/Crownsplitter because I for some reason had faith Bungie would supply new light and Aggressive swords It's 33% vs 50% now. Hell, just equalize it at 40%, no element over the other means no point then to not have this. like anyone actually cares about void being specially treated. Switching just to the burn is just silly. If you're the kind of person to have only 10-20 guns, then the vault has enough space for your 3 Ikelos shotguns Keeping the spectrum open is hard when they don't fill the gaps
-
The need to revert the weapons back to what D1 was.
-
Nope, because tractor cannon strat would be OP
-
Nah that doesnt sound like a good idea. If it was a good idea it already wouldve been in the game and never taken out. Bungie wouldn't do us like that.
