It never ceases to amaze me how bungie cannot balance a super, let alone anything in this game. First it was nova warp...mega duration, infinite health regen, insane blast radius...then 10 kill minimum glitched gwisin spectral...then it was one-eyed mask hammer titans....and now it’s spam havocs...lasts forever, insanely mobile, can spam the shoulder charge ridiculously fast with ultra lock on targets, can easily wipe a team twice in the same super if you get the right spawn....
BUNGIE...here’s an idea...stop granting health on kills to roaming supers, stop granting extension of supers on kills, stop making them insanely mobile. The second the first person gets their super in crucible right now the game is pretty much a game of “run away” rather than pvp.
Golden gun is the perfect example of what all roaming supers should be. Short duration, zero shield, zero overshield, zero health regen. Popped with poor timing and it’s either wasted or shut down with ease. Popped with great timing and good strategic positioning? Can easily shred multiple people down within seconds. Miss your shots? Tough luck you’re probably dead. Miss a shoulder charge, dawnblade, hammer, staff swing, nova warp blast, spectral swipe, shield throw or bash? It’s okay you have 37 hours left on your super and easy lock on tracking with melee or guided projectiles with mega blast radius so your definitely good on the next one.
There are no hero moments anymore. There’s no sniping down a super or shotgun meleeing it. Primary weapons and DoT does tickle damage. It’s just shoot it 73 times, watch your teammate get wrecked and all of their health comeback, and just wait til it’s your turn to die, then probably respawn and get killed by the same super again for good measure.
Edit: Yes, I’m a hunter main. Stop being an idiot, read the whole post, and realize that I’m also pointing out hunter supers.

Exactly, Spectral Blades are still OP.

All supers are to strong bar gold gun. arc strider can 1 hit ko other supers faster than other supers can react. Thundercrash is fairly balanced when compaired to bladebarrage but only just. BladeBarrage is just stupid btw All of them need toning down and i think everyone can agree

Thats said. Golden gun deserves a damage resistance buff. I feel bad to shoulder charge someone in their golden gun. Doesn't feel right. It's a super. You're supposed to be strong. Not OP that's stupid but atm I challenge every golden gun to a snipe off where as any other super I pop mine to counter.

7 RepliesThe problem with nerfing super armor, is that a lot of the melee supers that don't have any evasive abilities, such as top tree striker, burning maul, non-blink stormtrance, etc, can end up struggling to close gaps and can, at times, be destroyed easily because the only thing they have to rely on is their armor. It's understandable that health regen and super extension makes bottom tree striker stupid in pvp...but look at the top trees version. It can't do a quarter as much as bottom can because it just gets destroyed unless you only activate it against a single target. Since special is already so strong against supers, only requiring at most 2-3 consistent rounds to kill, supers would become too weak due to how we spawn with special ammo. If we continue to empower special more by weakening supers, it will end up like y3 where pretty much nothing but golden gun and a blinking stormtrance were able to consistently get kills. You could one shot sunbreakers, arc blades, and res warlocks with a single sniper round or shotgun melee, which meant any mistake was death. I think this kind of logic for supers ruins them and much too heavily empowers the very thing that's already strong for pvp. I think the only real compromise I can think of where supers are still powerful and special doesn't just straight dominate...would be to add a separate damage reduction scaling for primaries. Special should deal 50-60% less damage, but primaries should cap at like...30-40%. This way primaries have a much better time handling supers, but it doesn't allow for stupid one shots against supers that at times struggle just to be used at all.

1 ReplyBring super armor back down to what it is in d1. The fact that supers are just an “I win” button now is stupid and just caters to the people who cried all through d1 because they kept getting sniped out of their supers. A shotgun melee at point blank should kill a super, a sniper headshot from at LEAST the 90 rpms should kill a super, primary shots should do more than marshmallow damage against supers.

7 RepliesExactly, Spectral Blades are still OP.

5 RepliesFigures a hunter player with the best supers in the game complains about titans and warlocks. Downvoted

8 RepliesEdited by Chanty: 5/31/2019 12:26:40 AMI am willing to bet everything I own that OP is a hunter main. EDIT: As always I was not surprised.

5 RepliesI’m sensing a Hunter vibe to this post. Absolutely forgetting how broke spectral blades are.

Edited by Ghostfire239: 5/31/2019 1:12:48 AMPeople seem to keep pointing out something about you not mentioning Spectral, despite the fact that you mentioned both Spectral and Arc staff in the post. Most of these people are to busy pointing that your a Hunter user, rather than reading the post. I can almost guarantee that if you were a Titan a Warlock main you’d get endless streams of support. Sorry that you gotta deal with this kinda crap, I know how annoying that feels. I don’t entirely agree with the post, but you have my sympathy.

1 ReplyI like how you had totally forgotten to mention Spectral Blades as a roaming super with insane duration etc.. with the other examples you used. Yea, totally not biased or anything.

And since when were hammer titans a major issue?

This is what the players wanted. #muhpowerfantasy

3 RepliesEdited by puppyk1sses: 5/30/2019 5:08:30 PMFoH is nuts lol. Bungie has a really tough time getting buffs/nerfs right lol. It’s always an over-nerf or an over-buff, I don’t think it’s anywhere near properly play tested. We now traded invisible void god tanks with daggers for invincible flying death tanks that fly across the map at the speed of light. Every time I see one ravage my team, I’m like “Are they almost done yet?” 30 seconds later: “Ehh, guess not...” Meanwhile NW and ST warlocks just putz around getting gunned down.
-
5 RepliesAlso not surprised this is coming from a hunter main
-
1 ReplyAll Bungie needs to do is reduce super resilience so they are for smarter plays instead of a free multikill button
-
5 RepliesSounds like a personal problem IDK maybe stop shotgun aping. Supers are SUPERS for a reason. Stop promoting nerfs to cater to your shitty playstyle
-
3 RepliesI’m in the mindset that every roaming super in pvp is too powerful especially compared to the one use supers and that they all need nerfs. However any time I’ve made a post about the subject it was ignored.
