Even the current "open discussion" post has over 3500 replies. None of which are from bungie. It's a one sided conversation. I think they may just bury their heads in the sand instead of taking any of the community feedback seriously when it comes to cores.

Yea my group has everyone from casual to hardcore and in between. None of us really care, although we agree Bungie should just remove them as they don’t really add anything and would make people happy

Of course it does, but they themselves don't want it to be changed, simply because its the only way they can delay the progression system and make it seem like there is constant content to be grinding everyday. If you took out the cores then what? What is left? You cant make the only grind in this game cores because it shows what you have which is zero constant new updates to the game that is fresh and zero enjoyable replayability if you keep doing the same thing over and over again.
