Why I'm against vaccinations.

I'm gonna tell you a story about my little sister. She had just turned two or three or something and she was just learning to walk and talk. She was a bright little girl who was even starting to read some small books. Every time we would teach her something her face would light up; she was eager to learn. So since she had just turned two or three it was time for her to get vaccinated for -I believe Polio- so we took her into the doctor's office and everything was great. She winced a little, but she didn't cry. She knew that the doctor was doing what was best for her and that made her visibly happy. She was curious as to how everything worked, and overall just a great little girl with an obviously bright future. After the doctor's we went and got frozen yogurt, and she got to pick out her OWN flavor! It was a great day for her, and she thought nothing of the medicine, which could potentially save her life, that was administered just a few hours earlier. So when we got home. We played for a few hours. She was very caring and loved our dog, and our dog was a gentle giant who would snuggle and play with her whenever she wanted. Then when the dawn creeped closer, I took her to bed. I read her a story and when we finished, she thanked me and said, "I love you." As she was swaddled in her warm sheets with our caring dog beside her. Then... the next day came. Our dog was there. Her face, was devastated. She knew something was wrong. I went to wake up my sister, she opened her eyes, but didn't respond. She looked at me but she couldn't see me. She couldn't stand that day. She couldn't walk. She couldn't talk. We took her back to the same doctor and we were told that she had a reaction to the vaccine given to her yesterday. She's 8 years old now. She is very far behind. She hates reading. She's shy around everyone, and every time we try to teach her something new, she'll shut down and try to block us out. That bright little girl is gone. My SISTER is gone. Please think about both sides of the argument before dismissing people against mandatory vaccinations as, "crazy," or, "stupid." We're all just people like you. Have a nice day.

      • Your story doesn't seem to agree with the CDCs side effects of the Polio vaccine, did you report it to them because you should. That's a completely unique reaction to the vaccine. https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/hcp/vis/vis-statements/ipv.html

        • Its an awful story and I'm truly sorry for you, but this is an exceedingly rare case. The mass spread of disease is worse for the human race in the long run.

          • Your sister isn't gone, she's alive. Have you heard of smallpox? You know why you never hear about cases of it anymore? Because that's one of the things we vaccinate for.

So you're saying one vaccination and an adverse reaction (supposedly to the vaccine) somehow changed her path as a person for the rest of her life. How do you suppose this? Do you reckon the vaccine completely changed the physiology of her brain magically? That she would enjoy reading and all that unconditionally forever? Even as an anecdote, there is so much wrong with what you're trying to convey.

            • I'm very sorry to hear that, and I understand your point. But, vaccines prevent the spread of diseases far more deadly than an allergic reaction. In fact, vaccines are weakened versions of viruses, so the reaction was most likely caused by a weak immune system.
I do understand you completely, you give a good reason to be anti-vaccine.
• "deuhh ur retarded vakscenes dun do ny'ting bad" /thread Ok seriously though, i'm sorry for your loss. It sickens me a little that people act without thinking on vaccines, that they're only inherantly good. They will die defending that fact, while glossing over the thousands of occurances of this kind of stuff happening. I have a similar story, My little brother, who is severely autistic has had vaccinations. My sister did not have vaccinations, but i did and i was autistic until around the age of 5 or 6. But since everybody is a fuсking zealot over this crap, nobody will even think for 2 seconds and say "lol ur lying." I have never taken a vaccination past the point of birth, and i rarely get sick. I get sick maybe 5 times a year. Vaccinations aren't inherantly bad, but they aren't mandatory for human survival. Vaccinations are good for many things, but injecting potentially lethal viruses & diseases into infants is a TERRIBLE idea. Even worse, we don't really know what they inject into the infants. In my eyes, this all just seems... wrong.

              • You know why your sister is 8 and ALIVE!? Because vaccines have eradicated some of the most horrible diseases known. The proof? Anyone you know got polio? Or dying of chicken pox? You know that a toddlers personality is not at all developed relative to an 8 year olds and is subject to drastic changes? If you have kids like I do you'll know that they're personalities massively shift overtime, for better or worse, back and forth. I feel sorry for your sister for having such a stupid fvcking sibling. There arent 2 sides of the story. You've just, like so many idiots before you, decided that vaccines are the cause of something you don't like.

                • That is admittedly a sad story, and I'm sorry you and your family had to go through that - but it's not a reason to be anti-vaccine.

                    Well I'm fine. But I don't think that's a polio vaccine

                  • You do realize that vaccinations have a less then 1% chance for a adverse effects. That is, if she was allergic to eggs, which she should have given that information. In fact you are putting more people at risk because now you can potentially expose everyone you come into contact with. I find your story.... unbelievable.

                    • What happened to your sister is truly sad and I can in fact relate... And call me an asshole but sometimes you must sacrifice the few to save the many... If one child has adverse effects but the other 99 are fine...That's a pretty good track record...
this post hits closer to home than I'll ever admit on this forum and still i feel the same way...
• But who cares about the fact that before vaccines millions of people died from diseases like smallpox, polio, and the Spanish flu? This is one of the least though out posts I have ever read on Offtopic. You are basically saying "Screw all the people that died because they didn't have this vaccine. My sister has mild issues and that is way more important."

So basically you're a person that would nuke the planet to save one person in your family. I also think you have no idea what you're talking about. You can't completely alter someone's brain chemistry just with a reaction to a vaccine and I doubt It had anything to do with the vaccine in the first place.

                        • She probably got the high dose of autism vaccine. They are cheaper so most doctors us them. You need to make sure and ask for the "low dose of autism" vaccination, your insurance might not cover it though so be prepared to pay out of pocket.

                          • I am very doubtful this is real, if so it would be the first case of this type of reaction as it isn't listed as a possible side effect by the CDC. Besides, being withdrawn is better than getting polio.

                            • Not sure if real But if so, that's just a reaction. Bad luck and I don't know how the doctor saw it

                            • I get why you are now against vaccinations now. But that was just her body reacting to the vaccine. Not everybody has reactions like that. She was one of the unlucky few to have something bad happen. I'm very sorry for you man. I know how loss feels.
