My gaming PC has an i3 6100, and today I checked my schools computers, and they have i5 4590s in every computer. One of those is 200$.
[spoiler]its a quad core processor clocked at 3.3ghz, whilst the i3 6100 is dual core clocked at 3.7ghz. [/spoiler]

I might be showing my age, but when I was in college, the computers had Core 2 Duo E8400s and I was stuck with an old Dell Dimension 9200 E6600 from two years before. I am 28 by the way.

i3 6100 is still plenty respectable for an affordable gaming PC.

I have an i5 4440 (I think) My PC is 2 (I think) years old and still runs games very nicely. Not that I play super demanding games.
