1. How important Etheric Lights were at one point and the grind to get them
2. How much farming of Crota people did to never...ever...get the crux only to find out you had wasted more time than a spinmetal farmer on Mars
3. The Fatebringer and Black Hammer phases
4. Not being aloud to raid because you didn't have Gjallarhorn
5. Having to grind bounties to get the Invective, Bad Juju or Thorn bounty to drop
6. Seeing Eris with her ship tied to the railing like it was going to float off or something
7. Having to wear a faction class item to rank them up
8. The madness people were driven to attempting to get Revenant shader
9. Getting a well done cloud from doing the Nightfall
10. The excitement and hype of DLC releases!
Who has more, post and let me know what I missed!

I came into Destiny right after TTK, and I'm a little sad I missed so much cool stuff and seeing the big changes to the game. The guy I play with on here is always telling me stories of year 1, and I love it. Wish I could have been a part of it with you guardians.

The glory that was Thorn.

-Loot cave -Farming materials on planets instead of buying them -Doing your weekly activities and getting off for the day since there was nothing else to do -Watching Atheon fall to his death -Killing Gorgons for fun -The reign of SUROS Regime

You forgot how much less bullshit there was for trials

I heard tale of such things. Not saying i ever did them.

Loot cave, any day 1 players remembers how incredible that felt and how sad it was when it disappeared. That was when every piece of gear counted
-
I'm not proud of doing any of these things.

I have this stupid fear that one day, maybe in april or something, bungie will bring back etheric light. I still save all the etheric light i get from the free variks weekly package .....lol. I know i'm wrong but go* DA** that stuff was GOLD!! THE most sought after thing for so long. Finally getting all your old guns up to snuff was really a lot of fun. I had much more fun in y1 than y2. I'll be honest. I think the pvp induced nerfs caused the biggest drag on things for me, a primary pve player. Just kind of put me off to doing the raids weekly like i used to. Ehhhh, archon's forge IS fun, i can say that. Grinding patrol is pretty fun now too in plague lands. The guns are just mehhhhh though

Your whole group getting something you want, while you were the odd one out

Needing radiant/ascendant shards to level up armor (and how much of a grind it was just to get enough shards) 14. Needing radiant/ascendant energy to level up weapons (and how much of a grind it was just to get enough energy) 15. Endlessly patrolling each planet just get enough materials to level a piece of gear 16. Taking your eye off the game whilst playing crucible for a split second and dying by a Vex Mythoclast 17. Shotpackage 18. Final Round Snipers 19. Fe;winters Sniper 20. AoE grenades being the best thing to kill the VoG bosses I know there's loads more, just cba to list more

I can't believe you missed an important part of year one. Loot caves? Oh and rockets being the biggest bullet sponge of all time lol.

31 RepliesI just realized that Destiny's "years" are symbolic of real life. Year 1 represents real Guardians aka 80s babies that earned everything and don't feel entitled. Year 2 would be 90s babies. Had some help to make life easier, but still worked for everything...a little. Year 3..."I bought the game so I'm entitled to everything in it. If I don't get it I'm going to cry."

Dismantling engrams in orbit and not get materials for it

A lot of this stuff was in year 2, so... Year 2 of the game (which is actually 1 year of time)

7 RepliesDoes anybody even remember the hallowed knight or Ogre that spawns on the edge of the cosmodrome?

What's crazy to me is the people on this forum that want to go back to that. #Y1NuttyDestinyPlayers

Took me forever to get the invective quest

I f*ckin' hated Year 1, only good thing about it was the nostalgia.
