Shotgun usage last week went up, this week it went up another 38%. That puts the total at 85.89%
Something needs to be done about this... Bungo pls. Primaries are obsolete at this point, and that is sad. The Burning Shrine only had 53% shotgun usage, and 38% sniper usage in secondaries. Those numbers are far better, and make the game much more enjoyable.
For those of you wondering what % primaries are being used at right now compared to secondary weapons, I don't know. Unfortunately it doesn't compare primary vs secondary. But with a shotgun number up at 85%, and usage gone up by 38% it's pretty safe to say the majority of players aren't even using a primary.
I'd like to see a change, it's difficult for Bungie to cater to everyone. But if these numbers weren't so far on opposite ends of the spectrum, the game would be more fun. It would nice to see those numbers evened out across the board. A small solution could simply be, allow less ammo for shotguns. They are high risk high reward, and should be used as such. My titan can hold over 18 shotgun shells, that will last an entire Trials match. I can literally use a Special Weapon the entire time and never even switch to my primary. This is not right.
EDIT: For everyone saying these numbers are only because of the last 2 weeks with no radar/revive. You are WRONG. These numbers are pretty consistent over the last 9 weeks. Shotguns FOR THE LAST 9 WEEKS have been used OVER 20% MORE THAN SNIPERS. EVERY WEEK. The ONLY week it was even, was 10 weeks ago, when Trials was the assorted playlist. They were both around 48% usage. After that, the following 9 weeks, shotguns dominated by over 20% EVERY WEEK.
Yes, I use a shotgun A LOT. I feel like I have to during this meta.
Edited by SteevO: 11/10/2016 6:38:10 AMSo, your supposed to snipe when the map your on is clearly a close range map.
Yeah that makes sense
-
It makes sense. Two close range maps in a row and no radar so you're gonna be surprised a lot. Everything was just screaming shotgun!

#MAKE DESTINY GREAT AGAIN - BUFF PRIMARIES

Because everything else sucks
Nerf fusion rifles
Buff primaries bungo
-
I DON'T KNOW MAYBE IF THEY DID THE NERF EVERY THING ELSE TO THE GROUND
-
Make it so special only spawns on rounds 2 and 4
-
Last I checked you need a non sniper for a close range map and primaries are that great on the close range maps. And no radar makes everything outside of shotgunning hard. Besides you can't be annoyed or mad because everyone's looking for an easy way to succeed.
-
And a reward is a primary :) Bungie lost their mind

2 RepliesTo be fair, sniping was to easy with all the high AA snipers out there. Next to that, it turned the game slow because everybody was just hardscoping. In halo you get scopes out the moment you got shot which is ok, in COD your scope will move left and right depending if your moving and get flinch. In destiny it used to be almost no flinch, no descope's and you can move left and right without wobbling your sight.
-
I like the shotgun usage in trials right now. Its motivated me to use my fusion and sidearms more. Its funny to watch a dude run down the caves in anomaly with a shotgun and vaporize him with my saladbar's vigil
-
2 RepliesUnpopular opinion, but actually dead serious. Nerf snipers. Don't like the amount of shotguns atm aswell. But snipers still do not flinch enough. Remove every bit of aim assist on snipers too.
-
Use your shotguns. Il just fusion you in the face 😊
-
1 ReplyIt's because this is a fickle community. They see a sightly negative change to snipers that'll only make it easier to fight them with a primary and think "oh, better immediately switch to shotguns!"
-
Okay I actually must say that's completely abhorrent. Serious, 85%?!?!!!
-
It don't matter if you win by an inch or a mile. Winning's winning.

2 RepliesDon't let it get to you, some of these people don't even know where the swap weapon button even is. Although only bungie benefits as I keep buying emotes for more personal taunts tbags
-
1 Reply100% of percentages on the internet are made up percentages.
-
What do you expect it was inferno???
-
Don't let it get to you Guardian. Those shotgunners could wield a primary to save their life. True Tryhards are shotgunners and everyone whom thinks special means primary. Between ADD and maybe not being a let to know how to use the swap button it's can comical if you allow it. Unfortunately there can't be much change left in nerfs because it isn't fair to to the players whom play the meta right and for fun. And as much as People don't want to care. Casuals deserve a game they can come into and given a chance to "destiny-binge when they want and even graduate to being a hardcore gamer.

IT was only because there was no radar

28 RepliesMy biggest issue with shotguns is that they have the lowest skill gap in the game, and for a gun with a one hit kill, that's not a good thing. And now that everyone knows exactly which roll they should have (full auto matador, range finder,etc...) pretty much everyone has a god roll. Just roll face sprint to your target as fast as you can( or skate) and hit the trigger. You never have to work for it, whereas now just about every other weapon requires you to have some kind of skill other than running, whether it's crack-shooting, timing your shots for accuracy, knowing what a good standoff distance is, timing your charge for the right moment, being able to keep your reticle on a moving target. I'd say even super abilities require more skill than using a shotgun would. Yes, I use a well-rolled matador in the crucible, but usually only because I feel like I have to in order to be competitive. As far as I know, that is something Bungie was trying to avoid. Not sure how they can fix it, but I'd just really like most other players ELO levels to be based on their actual skill and not how often they decide to shotgun rush.
-
3 RepliesWeapons in this game will never be balanced because of the simple fact that too many people complain about them. No one will ever be happy. I loved year 1. It was by far the best. The more people that play Destiny, the worse it seems to get. I'm sure I'm not the only one to think this.
-
If you keep ending the game will only become even more watered down...

Plan c. That is all.
