Can we please totally get rid of shotguns in PvP?
Is there any doubt this single weapon requires zero skill and ruins the game?
With advent of private matches we can prove just how ridiculous and unbalanced this one weapon is.
Shotgun range is totally idiotic in this game. With futuristic armor and shields there seems to be no way to balance this weapon.
I know this is the millionth time someone has tried to being this up and I know there will be the usual recommendations about how easy it is to counter a shotgun but get real:
The gun is way overpowered for PvP and it's been a problem since the game came out.

My new hunter that I've recreated has half of your kills with only over 1 day of playtime. I've been shotgunning since the beginning and I think I speak for everyone when I say shotguns were nerfed so much since the start of the game. The range and handling has been nerfed to the ground and phantom bullets proc regularly now. Not to forget the usual "WHAT HE'S ONE SHOT?!" when you shoot someone at close range. Maybe you should work on you movement and map awareness because this two tactics allow you to counter shotguns easily.

I wonder if they secretly buffed them lmao. I played Supremacy for two weeks before iron banner and it never felt as disgusting and terrible as it felt in iron banner. I was going positive with an auto rifle ffs and now I can't find a viable primary to challenge shotguns and Titan skating and grenades literally every 2 seconds flying everywhere. The ability cooldowns have reached an insane level.

2 RepliesWhat and sitting back sniping isn't the same. A month ago that's all there was in pvp. Now it depends on what game mode your doing to which weapon you use. If your sick of titans killing you. You know you can make one and do the same. I'm not that good a pvp 1 kd and there are some freaks out there shotgun and sniper. You have to respect how they go about it. As much as it shits you off.

I've used snipers since I started playing, but recently started using shotguns for fun. They're in a good spot right now. It's primary thats the problem. The long range one's don't do enough damage quick enough in close encounters and the one that are good for shutting down shotghunners normally put you at a dissadvantage for longer ranged encounters. Only option is to always use something that can deal with them. Scout/shotgun. Auto/sniper. Handcannon/sniper. Pulse/fusion. And completely avoid supremacy. I hated this iron banner, it was a shotgun fest. But trials and normal pvp are still pretty good. My advice is to start using a shotgun and seeing it from that point of view. I trash talked shotguns for ages until actually trying hard in pvp with one. It really is hard to close the gap on decent players. You do get allot of unsuspecting people who never had a chance to defend themselves, but that's exactly what snipers do at range. Snipers should still 1hk people in super though. That wasn't a good idea. Supers in this game are powerful enough as it is. So being able to tank sniper head shots as well is a little odd. Baring the obvious, radient skin and blessings.

1 ReplyIt actually is a great art busting into people's faces and blasting them when they know you're coming, and before they can kill you first. I truly do have respect for people flying around the map super aggressively and shotgunning. Only issue I have are max armor/speed Titans with jug. That's a little too easy mode.

7 RepliesYou're wrong right off your first sentence. Go find some person on the streets who's never played destiny, have them load up crucible and tell them to use a shotgun. If it is as you say, then he/she will clearly dominate. Obviously this example is out of proportion. But i figured that since you would exaggerate to one end of the spectrum, i would go to the other. Although you are correct in one aspect in that it's the millionth time this topic has been brought up. And for the millionth time, it's just another salt-filled rant about how the OP doesn't like shotguns. No facts provided, no constructive criticism. Just another "i don't like them, they're OP" thread.

Clearly a recent little noobie who doesnt even know that shotguns are perfectly fine right now. They used to be a little overpowered all the way back in year 1. Just like many many other things. Do you honestly think playing against "skilled" snipers who crouch as soon as they spawn and hardscope at the same spot at the back of the map is fun? I can help you to answer. No. Hell no. One of the best matches I have played in a long time was during Iron banner couple days ago. Every player used a shotgun as a secondary and actually rushed as soon as they spawned. They didnt crouch at their spawn like little bitches. They actually played the game. Map was asylym and it was total mayhem from start to finish. It was extremely enjoyable. I wish I could play against people like that in every game.

A good shot gunner doesn't just run at you, you either A) Softens you with his primary then quickly closes the gap or B) Sees you getting close on his radar and accurately predicts where you're going to be and one-shots you. Learn to counter this. Scrub shotgunners are more of an annoyance than anything. Get you a Trespasser or Plan C and watch them fall like dominos.
