Done it 200 times (lost track, not sure) and only had 3 armor items dropped. I still haven't found the gloves even once. And they don't even scale to your light level, only up to 365. Pretty useless. I don't know what archons forge is supposed to give you as an incentive to play. Class items en masse is all I get. And it's the only thing I get from opening CHESTs.
