• Man this topic sure does split the community. Listen, if it's optional, which it surely will be, then why would anyone care? Go ahead and add it. I'll still raid with my team or get on LFG to custom make a team anyway. OMM would be my last resort but hey it would be a good thing to have for people who have an aversion to LFG and don't have a team. Point is, if it's optional, why is this an argument for some? While on the subject of MM in general, can we please scream at Bungie for OMM in Nightfall? Maybe I would actually care to run it then. I'll get on LFG or organize my clan for a raid, sure. For Nightfall? Nah, not worth the time. I should be able to just fly in like I do for Heroics IMO.

  • I would use raid matchmaking if for no other reason than to say, "-blam!- it, let's see what happens."

    • I'd love to see some examples of people being "elitist" and stating, either vocally or through action, that they are actively trying to keep others from acquiring PvE/raid gear. Cause I can't recall a single instance. I can kinda see it with Trials and/or PvP, but not PvE. It's just a sad, made up argument with zero merit...

      • Honestly having MM wouldn't change much..the people having trouble completing the raid would still have trouble completing it, just different reasons..sure having MM would get you into the raid, but completing it will be another story. anytime i have used random teams, i was never able to finish it. The only way ive completed raids was using a set group of friends..

      • Wait..... people care? Only a troll or someone clueless would use raid MM. I cannot wait to see the forums after people spend hours in a mm raid and not get past the most simple of areas.

      • This is so stupid.. Dude. Nobody will be forced into mm. It would be optional. The elite will still raid with the elite.

I don't think anybody really cares about raid mm anymore. Those who did have probably moved on to other games by now. If they haven't added it for the past two years they obviously don't think it's a great idea. An in game lfg system should have already been added though. There is no excuse for not having that in the game after all this time.

        • I wish you luck completing a raid when one guy doesn't have a mic, another is using a shotgun for warpriest, and the rest have never done it before and are looking for a sherpa. How many times will you have to leave the group and try your luck again? The frustration that would come from that is the reason they haven't implemented it yet. The only way MM works is if they lower the difficulty level and teamwork required. Is that something everyone wants? What's ironic is if you did leave a bad group, you would become the very thing you look down upon, you would be the "elitist".

          • *Flies in *half the team doesn't have mics *2 people have never done it before *one person afk *fail first mission a person leaves. Rinse.wash.repeat For all your raid activity experience. Have fun I'll still take the 5 freaking minutes it takes to lfg on this forums provided by Bungie.

            • How are people against Raid MM elitists or snowflakes? The overwhelming majority of the community I have met will teach you how to raid when joining a group. It's easy. Be relatively mature. Be honest about your experience. Ask questions, take direction and criticism. Again if you're new take direction and criticism. Pass it on. I've been LFGing since Vault, it's not a big deal. Should there be an in game LFG? YES! As far as LFG actual, Yes there are the occasional douche canoe's but for the most part everyone is pretty cool. I know there are some out there who are unwilling to meet new people and join, gasp, randoms they don't know. But that is their own fault. You lose nothing by joining a group. In fact that's how you meet people and become friends. Maybe even get on a regular Raid team. Crazy I know. I fail to see how that makes those of us who will seek what we want snowflakes and elitists. Further if Raid MM happens it will not be enjoyable. Will there be some Sherpa's and people helping, I'm sure there will. But more often than not there will be junior gaurdians who don't have a mic who have no idea what is going on that will cause wipe after wipe. Oh and that's after you had to wait more than 30 min for them to complete simple jumping puzzles. Hell there are people who can't figure out how to jump to the platforms in the Darkblade strike or can't navigate the lightning in the Fallen sabre stike. How will they fair in the Raid? I'll tell you, they won't. Oh and this is not counting the trolls. Yeah great idea.

                • Look if matchmaking makes sure the team has a mic connected to make requirements met then I'm all for it. Give people options

                • Simple solution. Optional and Make raid matchmaking ranked. The more completions you have the higher your rank. The scrubs that for some reason can't make friends can pull their own hair out and dedicated players can quickly find a group.

                • Copy and pasting my response to another thread like this.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I'm against optional matchmaking, and not because I want to keep people out of raids. I'm against optional matchmaking because all those people who have never done a raid before will use it, get matched with other undergeared, inexperienced, no microphone players, who may or may not actually be present for the entire duration of the raid. Then after the dedicated ones waste several hours failing the very intro section of the raid until they finally ragequit, they will come to the forums and start complaining about how raids are impossible to do. And just like how all the whiners get everything in crucible nerfed, these people will end up ruining everything the raids stand for until they turn into glorified strikes that a toddler could clear without any communication. So to all the people claiming that optional matchmaking won't hurt anyone, think again, because it will lead to disaster.
I don't understand where people got this idea that people against matchmaking are "elitists" or "special snowflakes". We don't care who does or does not clear the raid, we only care about the raids being dumbed down so that everyone who doesn't want to put in the effort could do them.

I hope that if they do add Raid Matchmaking that they put qualifiers and make it optional.
Qualifiers being: A Mic Check (The game ensures you have a working mic.) Due to the mechanics of raids, mics are pretty much required. Higher light lvl requirement than for a non-matchmade team. (This is just to give MM groups some breathing room.)
The matchmaking itself needs to be optional. Forcing things on a playerbase only adds to the salt. I find it funny that Bungie has finally admitted that they are discussing it. What many players forget is that while yes Raids are very solid content. There is A LOT of development time, money, and resources put into them. When less than 15% of a playerbase of millions has not entered a raid, and less than 10% (or was it 5%?) of that same playerbase has completed it. The business side looks over things and topics like:
"Hardly anyone Raids. We should allocate raid resources to other areas of the game." "Rather than build a raid instance lets reuse ____ area." "Lets skip adding Raid and add in 4 more strikes." "We'll add a Raid every other expansion." "Just 1 Raid will do. Maybe we should make it quicker like a Strike's duration?"
And etc. These topics come up because they want to have content thay gets seen. MMORPGs hit this issue long time ago. Companies (goal of gaming companies is to make money) question content that is a drain on resources and has no return. If ___ content gets seen, run, & is liked by the playerbase it is a success. If ___ content gets seen, run, & is disliked by the playerbase then it is removed. If ___ content isn't seen, and only a select few of the playerbase likes it then it's questionable on if it should continue or ve made more accessible.

                    • I doubt I would ever use it for the raids (other than snagging a CP), but I'd sure like to see them add MM to trials. Even the worst teams could complete some bounties and get some of the cool gear. Maybe that would ruin the experience for 3% of players, but I think a lot of us would appreciate it.

                    • For God's sake it had better be optional, if I want to three or four man a Raid (similar to solo-ing or taking my wife on a Strike without someone else sprinting ahead of her and killing everything), then I had better not be thrown into a queue just to play.

                    • The ign interview made it very clear that the whole point of building a team is so you have people who youve chosen to face daunting tasks. Smh if you really want to know what destiny with matchmade everything will be like look no further then the division watered down stale pve all because it needs to accessible to everyone.

                      • It really depends on how it is implemented. A year ago or so, someone posted that Bungie should add bulletin boards like Final Fantasy. I think that bulletin boards are an excellent idea. Boards could be posted for Sherpas and speed runners. If an inexperienced player joins a speed run raid and gets kicked, then they should not complain. Bulletin boards could also be added for ToO, CoE, NF, etc. In order to keep the raid special, a new raid's normal mode bulletin board would not open until the heroic mode was released. The heroic mode bulletin board would open once the challenge mode was released. I believe this would enhance the social experience Bungie wants out of Destiny, while still keeping raids in their elite place as end game content.

Why are the people to dump? If matchmaking is coming and is tit a mess....why not looking for people on LFG? if I play matchmaking it is a mess,I just post on some LFG site and looking for some capable ones No one forces you to play a raid with matchmaking,if you play with matchmaking it is your own fault I say let it come, and see how is it going But with the option to turn matchmaking off, because sometimes it is fun to run the raids/strikes solo Sorry for bad English

It'll let the randoms get together and have fun and make new friends so they actually have a potential raid group. I swear the destiny community is shit. They all turned into zombies. To scared to try and teach someone. I love the idea of it. I can help people out like in the says of VoG.

                            • Wtf was the point of this post ??? The destiny community has been literally begging Bungie for nearly 2 years to get matchmaking for raids and nightfall strikes or some form of an in game LFG ... Who wouldn't want this an option ? Yeah my views could be biased seeing as I'm not a solo player I'm a streamer and a clan leader so I always have a team .. But for the casual players who don't have friends on stand by to raid with this is everything they have wanted . Not everyone has hours to spend on 3rd party websites to find ppl to play with ..
