There. I said it.
For the last few times December has passed by, all we ever get is Strange Coins from some unknown benefactor.
Well I say to hell with that!
We've got Valentines Day and Halloween.
Why not do an event for one of the most celebrated holidays there is.
-Snowing in the Tower
-Shaxx with a Santa Hat
-Rahool as the Grinch
-And more "CHRISTMASY" events
Whether or not people don't want this for "controversial" reasons, I don't care about that.
This is gonna have to happen someday.
We call it "Winter's Fair" and it's based around the Fallen House of Winter and Variks in the Reef.
-Ever since Draksis was killed, the House of Winter has been looking for a new Kell to replace him.
-Nikoliksis, Winter Claw, now seeks to claim Draksis's throne for himself by using the "Scarlet Septum"; a Vex-made power source from the future, to rebuild the House of Winter from the ground-up.
-Return to Venus and hunt down Nikoliksis before he gains enough power all over the Ishtar Sink.
Edit2: I keep hearing this "Christmas is a Christian holiday" crap.
Well here's a little know fact for ya that I'm gonna quote from a certain friend on here:
it was previously the Pagan festival of Yule, before the Christians stole it and re-marketed it as Christmas to fit their Dogma, so it had been a time of celebration for centuries before anyone had ever heard of 'Christ'
CHRISTMAS WAS NOT ORIGINALLY A CHRISTIAN HOLIDAY.
Edit: well I'm glad to see this is getting some positive results! Let's keep this thread bumping! Keep the good vibes going!
BTW no offense to anybody out there, we're not trying to persecute (at least im not) you guys or anything. We just want a winter holiday event without any complaints is all. :)
So I guess we can call it "Winter's Fair" then! :D
Edit3: okay...um remember when I said "keep the good vibes going"? I'm seeing less of that now. Enough with the arguments and Christian implications, let's all just agree to have a Winter holiday event. Let it snow!
Edit4: I see some people like the thought of Rahool as the Grinch, so I composed a short little song together for that ;)
You're a mean one, Mr. Rahool.
You really are deprived.
You're as cuddly as a Cabal,
You're as charming as the Hive.
Mr. Rahool.
You're a Legendary Engram
That gives us a green helmet.
You're a monster, Mr. Rahool.
Your heart's a deep black hole.
Your brain is full of salt,
You better give me MIDA Multi-Tool!
Mr. Rahool.
I wouldn't touch you, with Variks'
weird claw-looking pole.
No, but they should start a festive special that starts at the beginning of December and make us do some tasks to get a festive theme. Like shaders.
-
They won't because people of other religions cry about it bc They re left out
-
Christmas is just a normal holiday. People just like to push their religions on others. For obvious reasons due to religious beliefs I don't think we should celebrate Christmas. But having snow in the tower could be the least they do. However Bungie should realize almost all MMO type games with a hub normally have a Christmas tree and themed setting. Who cares if people don't celebrate it.
-
Should definitely do a Christmas themed event. Don't worry about all the whining religions.
-
2 RepliesI dont think they will do a Christmas event. I'm pretty sure that somewhere in these forums someone else brought it up and the mods shot them down by stating that Christmas isn't celebrated everywhere that this game is at. Now, if it weren't for the fact that I know the SRL will be back this winter I would say that they should probably just hold a winter event. However because of the SRL I highly doubt we will see a winter festival styled event.
-
Valentines day is a Christian holiday as well I'm pretty sure, named after St. Valentine.
-
5 RepliesHalloween has christian roots as well. Originally called all hallows eve it was a day of rememberance before all saints day! So I dont see why bungy couldnt do somthing for Christmas even if it was a little more general as suggested at the begining. How about "Festivus for the rest of us" :)
-
Srl seems to be their Christmas holiday event. Confirmed it is coming back in December.
-
13 RepliesIt's a "Praystation" exclusive. :)

2 RepliesI'm not sure if you're trying to tell people that Christmas was derived from Saturnalia, but that's not technically true. At best it's hypothesized by some that it was created to compete with Saturnalia, but even that is just conjecture. Meanwhile, Christmas is technically a Christian holiday, even if many people don't treat it as such, and/or the exact origins can't be agreed upon. But hey, this is #Destiny, not #let'sdebateholidayorigins.

3 RepliesSome people don't believe in Santa or Jesus or the grinch.
-
Actually, Christmas was a Pagan event. But then molded into the savior's holiday of his birth, and remembering the miracles and healing he did. Same as Easter, also a Pagan holiday. But then molded into a holiday where we celebrate the sacrifice that was made all in the name of God and Love. I know there will be some with different beliefs and religions, but also some without any religion, bashing Christianity saying "So basically Christians turned their holiday for their own beliefs?" That's not entirely true, you would have to go very deep in the history of Christmas. All I ask is that people be a little respectful of others beliefs and religions. I myself have plenty friends who have different religion or no religion at all. But I stay respectful, and I request you do the same. Other than that I LOVE THIS IDEA!

2 RepliesEdited by swampNinja20: 8/25/2016 3:14:02 PMIMO, religion is probably best kept out of video games....but they could have snow in the tower and maybe a New Years celebration where the tower has fireworks.
-
7 RepliesThey need to keep religion out of the game
-
21 RepliesI'm Christian. And Christmas is a pagan holiday. Not even when Jesus was born, it's just celebrated then because thats when the pagans celebrated and the catholic church wanted to try and draw as many pagans to Christianity as possible. And the "keep religion" out is stupid.. Halloween is a pagan or religious holiday. I don't mind. Valentine's Day is pagan. Basically every holiday has some "religious" beginning.. I'd love a christmas thing.. I don't celebrate Santa but do that.. So it's not religious for the whiny people.
-
2 RepliesI don't understand why people would complain about religious issues for an awesome idea for an event when valentines day is a christian/secular holiday also. #Crimson Doubles Your idea is great and I hope other people think so also. I hope it becomes a reality!😎
-
1 ReplyThey should give everyone an exotic engram for this. And then Rahool will decrypt it into a legendary class item.
-
We had a holiday event last year and will have one this year too. A Holliday event.
-
Christmas in origin is an extremely Christian event. That being said, a majority of people don't celebrate this way, but hey, we all (well almost all) still celebrate Christmas! Let's do it Bungie!
-
Solution: have a Christmas themed event in the tower, because it would be great! The area of the tower down the stairs by Dead Orbit, where the emote Kiosk is, can be the designated "safe space" for guardians who are offended by snow and Santa.
-
4 RepliesEdited by CaptainMericah: 8/25/2016 2:16:25 PMHow about Frost Fair? The back of the Tower should be covered in ice for the week between Christmas and New Year so we can skate around and goof off. Hang some lights and stuff back there as well. Fun and pretty for everyone without having any religious/national affiliation.
-
Why? Maybe crimson doubles
-
...Bungie should give us dedicated servers before any shitty holiday event...
-
It would be best to some kind of hybrid event of christmas and another culture, similar to how festival of the lost was Halloween and dia de muertos.

1 ReplyBungie is in the US so F*** it why not? Most players are in the US. I don't know if the U.K. Or European Countries celebrate it. To christians and catholics it means the birth of a magical person that may have or not have existed
ok grow a pair if you're offended
Nowadays it just means santa clause that big ol fat f*** some cookies, egg nog, PRESENTS, etc. That is what mainstream media is revolved around Christmas not the religion part.
