Now at least read the whole selection before you hate, I saw this in a YouTube comment, there should be a year two thorn called the rose, a random shot has the poison in its original unnerfed damage. The perk is called thorn of a rose and the description is every rose has a thorn. I think that would make all the whiny babies happy and the thorn users happy. By the way no bias, and btw I don't have a thorn.

Guys I know what thorn did don't day I don't read the whole paragraph before you get mad at me please!

The problem with Thorn was that it had a low impact stat and high rate of fire stat. Once you coupled that low impact stat with burn, however, it essentially became a max rate of fire, max impact hand cannon, effectively 2 tapping to the head at max rate of fire. My solution? Give thorn the same fire rate, the old "OP" burn, and reduce the impact to a three tap. This will make the weapons time to kill much higher, while still having the same burn everyone hated (or loved).

2 RepliesThorn has had its reign of terror. -blam!- that gun! And recreating it with a different skin with the original DOTS? No. I think that'd be terrible. Crucible at the moment is really interesting many different players using different weapons. If that gun game out that's all we'd see..and all we'd hear was the hiss as an unskilled player managed to tag us twice.
-
3 RepliesGood idea. Or possibly the bottom half or 1/4 of mag.

2 RepliesEdited by HRH FURY: 6/16/2016 9:44:59 PMBring back the original thorn and develop a way to cause more lingering damage to just the cry babies and whiners! Call the perq: "Pain in The Ass". ...or "the Hemroid Seeker" ...
-
5 RepliesIf only one bullet deals the burn, then why would you use it over Hawkmoon?
-
3 RepliesBring Back Thorn But it only does Poision Damage when you land headshots. Same Damage it did in year 1.
-
I like the idea, not just for the gun itself but the creativity you put on the description. Make us a little nostalgic even knowing how broken the weapon got a certain time.
-
7 Repliesif you dont have one I dont think you understand how broken the gun was. it turned bad players good.
-
No. I'd rather just have the reduced lingering damage. One random shot would just be like having another Hawkmoon with lingering damage.
-
I'm getting alot of feed back positive and also good alternate ideas 😉
-
4 Repliesor have a armor perk that has a poison reduction perk?
-
1 ReplyYou clearly don't know the type chaos it ensued on the community for crucible. Such power should never be held again.
Also it's a pain in the ass for trials.
-
2 RepliesYear 2 thorn needs a super hard questline. The year 1 was one of the toughest to achieve and rightly so. Especially for hunters without raid guns. The quest should feature hive(taken) and a few pvp challenges
-
4 RepliesI think they should not need op guns, but if it's op it should be insanely hard to get. Like a stupid hard task or quest.
-
13 RepliesJust bring the thorn back period. Bring all our guns back. Screw the damn crybabies messing up y crucible. OG day 1 crucible please.
-
1 ReplyHow about post y1 nerf pre y2 nerf thorn
-
3 Replieshow about a thorn that doesn't do damage over time. that is the biggest problem with the gun after all
-
1 ReplyEdited by Ankokuseibutsu: 6/16/2016 7:01:07 PMDeleted thorn long ago. Good riddens from this game. No more dots in Destiny
-
Edited by Dampfanator: 6/16/2016 11:42:13 PMOr just idk bring back Thorn instead of giving us a tease
-
3 RepliesStupidest thing I've ever heard
-
1 ReplyYa that would be cool but not as much burning and impact

Edited by Kone19ps: 6/16/2016 9:43:07 PMI was happy with the thorn before its buff, thought it was unfair with it as most agree and still a little unfair to three shot body. However unlike most of the cry babies here I don't care about dying to dot as long as it's fair. Thorn needed to require one headshot and two body and to no longer be a spam cannon like it was originally. But no people can't handle dying to dot so it's nerfed into the ground. Now the same happened with throwing knives for no reason. Firebolt had 14 second recovery beyond any dot in the game. That was unfair and I was one of many calling for Viking funeral to be melting point. Then bungie let the handcannon meta go for 6 months causing so much salt they have to change dot. This whole thing is bullshit to me and all bungies fault except for the pvp elite whining about dot slowing their engagements. That's the goddamn point this isn't cod. It should have been made 4 body kill and one headshot and two body to kill. You die to the dot well suck it up you would have died to any other handcannon in the same amount of shots

2 RepliesTo everyone complaining about damage over time in crucible... Just because you survived the initial shot, doesnt mean you shouldnt die. If someone kills you with three shots from hawkmoon, you say "well at least i wasnt two shot" and you move on. But if someone hits you three times with a dot, and you die 4 seconds later, you lose your shit. What you fail to understand is that the dot gave you 4 seconds to retaliate where another weapon would have killed you outright. The only annoying thing about thorn was the amount of time the dot kept you from recovering. It was a great way of controlling open space because you just tag them from range and they hide until the dot wears off and recovery kicks in. Bungie tried to adjust for that by making the initial dot do less damage and shorten the duration, but they underestimated how scared people get when they are hit by thorn. They still run and hide. The risk/reward of a dot will never really work in a game with such short ttk. But i dont understand why people still call it OP. Thorn was fun to use because it was unique. I think dots have a place in Destiny, they just need a better counter. If certain subclasses included a talent that would cause recovery to ignore dots, then it would really balance things out.

4 RepliesNo weapon should do damage over time in the crucible.

6 RepliesHow about first shot applies the poison effect, and it has a target specific cooldown of 5 seconds? That way you can poke shoot and keep someone down longer (with the current DoT values), but you don't get to stack up monstrous DoT or trap someone in a recovery cycle. The gun is nothing special, really, it's the mass of poison it generates that makes it a terror.
