Lolwut? Morrowind was definitely the best with Oblivion and Fallout 3 behind it. Skyrim and Fallout 4 should never even come close to making a "best of Bethsoft" list.

1. Fallout 4 2. Morrowind 3. Oblivion 4. Fallout 3 5. Skyrim But hey opinions. The reason I put Fo4 above the others is easy. Innovation. They upgraded their combat system(the only one with a halfway decent combat). Weapon modification is much more innovative than anything else they've done. Settlement system is actually really great, something that not many AAA games are doing. While I do really like Morrowind, I think Fallout 4 beats it everywhere except story. Because I guess Bethesda fired the writers of Morrowind or something.

Innovation? Most of the ideas in fallout 4 came from new Vegas. Stuff like weapon upgrades and crafting all came from obsidian. Same with survival mode. So other than the base building (which is nothing new)

Base building(new to Bethesda). Weapon crafting/customization(new to Bethesda). Why are we bringing up NV in a discussion about Bethesda games?
-
Because they published that game and provided the engine for it. They own the rights to it and took many ideas from it. Sadly good writing was not one of them.

Gameplay in Bethsoft games have never been the selling point. Without a decent story, this might as well be any RPG made by any other developer. There's also zero choice which is out of place in a Fallout game. And while the crafting is cool, they did away with actual weapon crafting. If I want a railway gun, I now have to find one. That goes for every weapon in the game. There was zero reason to remove that aspect of crafting. And then there's the dialogue. God it's atrocious. I'd rather go back to a "silent" protagonist than listen to how some of those lines are delivered.

Regardless, whether you dislike it or not, being able to change your weapon to fit multiple playstyles is a superior system to just being able to build stock weapons considering it grants much more choice, customization, and freedom. I'm saying keep the weapon modding, but also keep weapon crafting. Just keep in the whole thing where you need to buy or find blueprints to build weapons. So if you're willing to go deep into high level territory to get that blueprint to build a Fatman at level 5, more power to ya.
