Not sure if anyone else has noticed the trend, but the system for finding us spawn points seems to be getting progressive dumber as time goes on.
It's been an issue throughout year 2 that didn't exist year 1 and I initially put it to maybe being a function of the new maps, but that is no longer a possible explanation.
For starters, as much of a shit show as the last IB was from a matchmaking/lag standpoint, the spawns were atrocious. We played games on Rusted Lands (year one map) where we controller A and B but would spawn at C and you'd think "okay, maybe it's just spawning us the only place it could find to be in the clear"
Except it will drop you right next to 2-3 enemies by their control point and it's insti-death.
Mayhem and I played Control and Clash last night and in 2 games I was spawn killed like 6 times. I don't quit matches and I -blam!-ing RTO'd in one i was so pissed off. I literally spawned and got shotgunned in the face.
The next game we played on Shores (year one map) and Mayhem and I both spawned in the cave by C at one point...
Right on a detonating grenade. We both died again without taking a step.
I just don't get where this issue is coming from. We talked about this in the post IB discussion and it just seems every fix causes 2 more problems.
Anyway, I'm curious if anyone else is experiencing anything similar.
Edit: just played a match. Video above.

1 ReplyPeople spawn camp...been going on for..um...2 years.

I really wish/hope they get blizzard to handle pvp in destiny 2. Overwatch is a prime example of pvp done right.

For sure something is wonky. I've noticed it since the beginning of the year. Can't remember if there was a patch or update around then. But it's frustrating as hell being killed literally in your spawn animation.

Rise of Iron hype train rolling through. Choo Choo. All Aboard!

Edited by TheKungLao: 6/9/2016 9:47:38 PMI remember in a match a little while back on Shores of Time on the A side spawn me and an enemy spawned simultaneously side by side. We both were so confused thinking at first we were friendlies. We both realized at the same time and commenced to battle. With that brief pause before the fight, I thought it was funny as hell at first but if it continues to happen alot, it wouldn't be.

Playing clash on cauldron. I'm already sitting in the inside heavy room and two enemies spawn in front of me. Pop golden gun and kill them both. I was on the fortunate side of poor spawning but trust me I've taken several truth rockets to the face upon spawn. It's bad out there.

Happens on Rift a lot more than you'd think

2 RepliesEdited by Erijian: 6/6/2016 2:43:21 AMSpawns have always been broken on a lot of maps; but some game modes have worse spawn systems than others..Looking at you, Rift.

They are completely off guard and you can typically ask one of them to hold your gernade for you while your busy knifing his buddy.

4 RepliesSpawns in FPS's will never be perfect unless the maps get much bigger. In that case, people will complain about the large size of the map. Whenever you are spawned in the game attempts to spawn you in an area outside of enemies lines. The fast paced nature of Destiny could result in you spawning, right as someone is running into that area. I have been spawn killed in every FPS I have played. Just the nature of the beast. This is even harder and worse in rumble as it is all on all.

It loves spawning me right next to the roaming super that killed me
-
It's only gonna get worse too when they add the next DLC
-
This has happened to me, and the guys I play with, pretty frequently. It's ridiculous. Of the times I've died on spawn, there was one occasion where I spawned right behind four enemies hard scoping. Got a triple kill before the fourth got me.

Edited by Mars3099: 6/6/2016 1:28:35 PMWhile I do agree that the spawns are pretty poor I personally see the fact that you were put into a game with roughly 8 minutes left when just about everyone has their supers as the biggest problem in the video Especially when the actions that should be taken to fix this are so apparent these actions would just be to simply give you the super energy you would have at that point assuming that you got no kills and personally I would say thats probably the best middle path to take to fix that problem considering that other possibilities consist of locking you in a match or punishing you for leaving one As for me I would rather not have to plan ahead before getting into a match not to mention the poor relationship my Wi-Fi and Bungie servers have
Sorry for sort of going off topic there but I just felt like pointing that out because that's what really grabbed my attention
4 RepliesWhy is everyone saying Rift is bad with spawns? I have never had any problem at Rift spawn points the only time i get spawn killed is in Clash or Rumble modes.

Edited by TheKungLao: 6/5/2016 7:56:18 PMBump. In one of my Iron Banner games last week, I respawned right next to an enemy trip mine. Instant death. Edit: I recorded it for proof if it started to be a real problem.

Lost track of how many times ive spawned on a tripmine. I swear most of my pvp deaths a pure bad luck stray nades always seems to find me when im behind someone else thats popped a roaming super

1 ReplyDuring IB I on Black Shield I died to a GG on A only to spawned right back at A to be killed by the same GG. Happened several times where I'd die, then respawn within AR range of the guys who just killed me, only to be team shot by them and then, guess what? Respawn next to them again and *gasp* get team shot a third time...

I think it's caused by the way a lot of people play. There are people and douchebag fairyteams who just want to spawn trap the entire match. Plus people who don't know that pushing too far flips the spawns, on top of people who like to troll by intentionally flipping the spawns. You also have teams that scatter themselves all over the map instead of moving together, resulting in a no safe place to spawn situation. At the beginning of year 2 Bungie gave us two new supers that could (one of them still can) wipe an entire team on one end of a map and stay active long enough to make to the other end (the enemy spawn) in time for another potential wipe. That didn't help and it may have encouraged more spawn trapping overall, especially with new players. Primary time to kill is slower now. The overall pace is slower. Many players won't even engage without either a clear advantage or taking someone by surprise. What better place to do that than where the enemy spawns?

36 RepliesBasically worse than what you went through unfortunately
-
Die At A. Spawn At A with 6 other enemies killing you
-
Several time on the same map playing control today. This wasn't spawn camping I was spawned right next to the one zone the other team controlled. Bungie, THAT'S NOT OK!!!!!!!
-
Nothing worse than getting spawned behind enemy lines. I am disappoint.
-
You just described like a 1/3 of my deaths.

You actually want them to fix something else. Every time they touch it gets worse. You know what pisses me off is; they get on twitch and all say how much they love the crucible. In the state that it is in now it is hard to love and if they truly play they would do more to fix and not allow the red bar cheaters on.
