Imagine being diagnosed with terminal cancer and having 2 years to live. By the start of the second year, you stop caring. You've already accepted that you're going to die soon. So, might as well have fun in your remaining time. You reach the end of the second year, and you're still alive. You go another 2 years still alive. You know you could die at pretty much any moment, but you don't care. You've already lasted longer than you should've. That's why we're dicks, because we thought we would've been dead a while ago and now we're just sorta waiting it out.[spoiler]TLDR; Being American is like having terminal cancer.[/spoiler]
