With the April update, the dreaded Destiny addiction has sprouted once more in full force. In my desperate attempts to fill the void destiny has created while I’m in class, I’ve taken to reading the Grimoire to make the hours feel shorter until I can get back to the sweet high that is Destiny. After a long debate with myself over the most powerful destiny enemy is, (my search has come up dry. Perhaps another day i can dive into this if this goes well.) I veered onto another course: Who are the most powerful guardians? I read tons of grimoire and I’ve compiled a personal list to try and rank them by power.
I will be excluding the player’s character for a few reasons, mostly due to the fact that I’m trying to keep this lore based. And I am not sure where they fit
5. Dredgon Yor- Dredgon Yor was an early hunter who was an excellent duelist. He was also the first guardian to fall to the darkness after allowing his gun, Rose, to be corrupted along with him to become the infamous thorn. After the darkness consumed him, Dredgon went on a violent murdering spree, killing innocent people and gurdians, and evenutally leaving his ghost. He killed the hunter Panihan, who was one of Kabr’s companions in the Vault of Glass. After killing Jaren Ward, he spared his son Shin Malphur who, on one fateful day, killed Dredgon using the Last Word. Dredgon served as a powerful warning to all gurdians looking to meddle in the darkness.
4. Saint-14- Saint-14 was an exo titan who loyally served the speaker during the city’s beginning. Saint-14 was an ambitious guardian, believing that the guardians should’ve gone on the offensive after the battle of the six fronts, instead of allowing the enemy’s retreat back into whatever hell they came from. Saint-14 was so close to the speaker he was considered his son, and he was close to Osiris as well. Saint-14 went on a personal crusade against the fallen, pushing the House of Devils back and killing their kell by bashing it in with his own head. Saint-14 was a true hero to the city, and was sent to investigate the location of Osiris after his exile, Never to be heard from again, and is still missing.
3. Osiris- Osiris has a long history with the tower and its leaders. He was once very close to the speaker and saint-14, almost seeing them as a family. While Saint-14 was the speaker's “son,” Osiris could be considered as his apprentice. Osiris was a warlock, a symbol of the light, and an idol to all guardians. He was the only non- titan guardian to fight in the battle of the 6 Fronts in the last city’s early days. His incredible skill in combat earned him a spot amongst the tower’s most elite warriors, and was offered a job as the leader of the city’s vanguard where commander Zavala sits now. When rumors of Osiris being a failed golden age experiment resurrected by a ghost came about, the speaker dismissed these accusations. Osiris had a lingering thirst for knowledge, which led him to asking questions that caused unrest and a divide among the gurdians of the city. He asked questions like,” Are guardians truly free?” “is the speaker evi?” and other questions that led to him being exiled by the speaker. Like TOland, Osiris craved knowledge of the darkness, which led him to hunting Ahamkara for their information. Eventually he made a home on the vex-infested Mercury, and began to obsess over their secrets. After allying with the order of titans known as Sunbreakers he disappeared, that is until recently. Osiris opened the Trials in order to test Guardians for something- something we will learn about soon...
2. Toland the shattered- Toland the shattered was a warlock who dedicated his life to researching the very nature of the hive and even the darkness itself. While Osiris was exiled for becoming “too close to the vex,” Toland was banished for using full on dark magic against the speaker’s will. He was OBSESSED with the darkness, even going to lenghts such as fashioning weapons with of it like bad juju, “speaking” with the darkness, and even joining Eris in the hellmouth just to have a chance to speak with the deathsinger Ir Yut to learn her song of death. With the Taken king update, it is learned that Toland has ascended to the hive realm, thus becoming an ascendant. Toland kept a journal of the hive, telling of their secrets and ways. Toland realized that the darkness should not be resisted, but embraced. Toland learned of the sword logic and sought to embrace it, and was infuriated when you kill Oryx but don’t take his place. And with these ideals, Toland the shattered was banished from the tower
1. Kabr the legionless- Kabr was almost beat by Toland simply due to the fact Toland could possibly be an ascendant hive. But when i sat and thought about it, Kabr was just the better choice. While Toland researched and delved deep into the darkness itself and spoke to it, Kabr fought time itself- and lived.Kabr was a titan, but not much is known about him or his affiliations with the vex. Kabr was a survivor of the failed vault of glass raid. He somehow passed the Templar and the oracles and was able to destroy a gorgon on his own and fashion it into the Aegis relic, which is one of the most powerful items ever to be wielded by guardians. Not only this, but he fashioned armor out of dead vex bodies, and drank of their "blood." This blood corrupted Kabr, and his current whereabouts are unknown. If it still is him. Kabr lost his entire fireteam to time, save for preydeth and paniham. Kabr knew he had others with him, he used logic to figure this out. With the Aegis created from the last of his light and the body of a Gorgon, Kabr was trapped in the vault for an unknown period of time, and no one knows what happened to him, except Paniham, who has become so paranoid he created the Super Good Advice in order to never truly be alone after witnessing the fall of Kabr. Kabr penetrated the vault, a seemingly impossible feat, and let the light in. After this, no one knows where Kabr is.
Sorry for the long post, and bad writing and grammar as im on mobile and I got caught up in all of this lore. Please correct me if ive made any mistakes with my lore, (ive been going mostly off memory) and feel free to leave your lists of whom the most powerful guardians are in your opinion!

Just giving you a little shit for this because I do remember class can get boring at times. ;)
...while I’m in class...
For those of us that are a tad bit older (late 40's, early 50's), does this part not give a little fear for the future? Should you not be studying, you know... class stuff, while you are in class? Overall a very good read. :)

Nice post. Fun read

3 RepliesOsiris should be 1. Not only is most likely not human to start, his research on the vex has led to most likely led to some crazy abilities. In the battle of 6 fronts, he was reported to be whooping ass on multiple fronts simultaneously. He was the warlock vanguard before ikora rey. He's got a cult following, lives in the middle of vex turf and they can't do shit about it, and with the exception of toland, he's the only one still alive.

Just a correction: the VoG hunter was called Pahanin. ~TheGreatDC

Gurdian. That was a damn good read.

1 ReplyFor Dregen Yor ,you are leaving out that he killed Thalor the only guardian to be undefeated in the crucible making him quite feared.

Excellent post! The grimoire is very intriguing, a shame the same can't be said about the in-game story.

Squidguy is number one.

Nope, the most powerful guardians according to lore are us. I mean look we defeated atheon ofc with the help of kabr. Destroyed black garden, stopped crota soul from reviving and killed him in his throne who killed many guardians. Now you might say that's because eris was helping us and she faced the raid before ad survived. OK then we stopped Skolas who broke from prison and went to steal vex tech and put him back in prison. If that does satisfy. We just killed a hive god who slew other gods oryx. And remember according to lore we didn't lose in anything we didn't get captured and we became victorious. We are way powerful than kabr, Osiris or any other guardians..... Btw from what I have seen in many anime or games is that when we kill 1 enemy from a guild or race like destiny another guy from another race comes. It would be nice if both came same time like when crota arrived, it would be nice at that time Skolas broke out of prison and entered the vault to take vex but there is atheon . It would be like Skolas vs crota vs atheon. And we should ve kept oryx alive since we will face cabal emperor facing oryx

1 ReplyWhat about Lee Roy Jenkins? Great post though

One Shot Ted. The true most powerful Guardian

Toland with his mega relics lol

16 RepliesWarlocks and Titans are always the heroes. No Hunter has ever been reguarded as a bad ass unless they turn evil and kill other guardians. I guess we now know what to do Hunters! Continue the slaughter of the innoncents in the Crucible and forge our own Destiny! Hoorah!

5 RepliesEdited by MNN8TV: 4/29/2016 10:19:28 PMYourself is number one We have defeated enemies the tower are afraid to speak of let alone fight Yea Kabr penetrated the vault, we destroyed time conflux at its heart Yea toland became ascendant, so did we and we the king of hive gods when we did
