It's okay that you like things to be challenging and you are right that PvE should be that way. But not because of PvP nerfs. Since y1 nerf everything and even perks are based off of PvP. Now think 8 more years of this and all the little weapons you like will become useless and eventually obsolete. Each time this happens the weapons will be based off of the last nerf. How is nerfing everything making this game a challenge? It's not, its only making new events take longer and longer as time moves on. That's not challenging. That's what's you call stupid and a waste of time. You want a challenge? Then tell Bungie to come up with better mechanic enstead of just shooting at a sponge.
