So I played the division on the release. It was the first game of this shooter mmo style and the division really turned me off. Hesitantly I bought Destiny for the first time ever yesterday when a friend convinced me to. Was I shocked, not only did the game "feel" better but, the very first strike was such a great and challenging experince(way better than an "incursion". Even the members of the community sent me messages on xbox welcoming me to Destiny, I was surprised. The little content I completed in 2 hours on destiny was truly more enjoyable and more mechanics than any game I've recently played.

3 RepliesWelcome to the world of Destiny, hope you have a fun ride. One word of advice, though? Once you hit the point in the game where you start doing things like Weekly Strikes and Raid (typed out Raids first, but, well, most players know how that goes), assuming you do get that far, keep a close eye on how much fun you're having at that point, because the game is all repetition from there. Now, that's not to say repetition is bad. I'm not even going to say that Destiny's repetition is bad (trying to keep this neutral). I personally like repeating old stuff, for a variety of reasons. However, last December, when I was grinding some strikes to get some gear, a thought entered my head and I realized that I stopped having fun with the game a while ago. That now I was just playing it for the sake of playing it. That's when I stopped playing, and frankly, I've found zero reason to come back, since from what I've been reading, the game has gotten progressively worse over time. Now, will you hit that point? I don't know. Just don't do what I did and trick yourself into thinking you're still having fun, when the actual fun stopped a long time ago. Keep a close eye on yourself, and when you stop having fun, stop playing. That cool electrified Warlock helmet you can get from the Fallen SABER isn't worth your time if it isn't fun to get (and a word of advice, it isn't. The thing has about a 2-3% drop rate from a specific boss).

to be honest the divisions incursions are more like destiny raids than strikes, and strikes in destiny are more like the basic missions in the division. had you been on since year 1 (prior to the release of division) you likely would have been put off this game by now as infusions used to be close to guess work and the drops were (and still are) pretty bad at times (the grind was huge back then) and weapons used to feel much better than they do now (the nerfs have hit this games PvE mode hard just to balance PvP modes). i prefer the divisions drop style over destiny but prefer the new style infusions (100% infusion rather than 60-80%) and the matchmaking for the division goes beyond what destiny offers right now, servers are much better on the division than destiny. each game has it's good parts but overall i think division has more potential right now, where as destiny is kind of on a slippery slope right now and has the potential of going down hill fast.

Be warned... Destiny is not the type of game that is meant to be played alone. You're off to a better start that some, because a friend wants you to get it so you can play with them. I started off playing by myself, and only myself. All my friends said they didn't want to buy the game. They said it "looked gay" and only f4gs play it. I don't disagree. Some people like serious, realistic games. But, somehow, one of my friend got their hands on this game, and they started playing it. Just like you, they had a friend to play the game with from the start. Unfortunately, once you get to higher levels, you start repeating things more. Some repetition is okay, but this game takes it to an insane level. But you still want to reach the level cap, even if it kills you. TL:DR Game is meant to be played with others. You will eventually find out that this game is lacking so much, but it is made in such a way where it is addicting.

Yeah Destiny has one of the better communities. I think the gun play and smoothness is what really makes this game so great though.
