What makes someone good and not a scrub by using a weapon they dont like using just so they can be good and not a scrub

Having the sleeper as my favourite heavy means im not good what about farebringer as my favourite y1 primary and ice breaker as y1 special and gjallahorn y1 heavy do those make me not good and the hard tast to get the thorn then enjoying it in the crucible does that not make me good
