Can Atheon control time from beyond death?

With the weekly resets being a thing, I thought "how does everything come back to life? Time travel? Cause the only in game guy who can cause time to shift would be Atheon.". Got me thinking. Is he deathless? Do we even kill him? What even happens? He manipulates time. He could always travel to a later time so he can come back when the guardians are done in the vault. So that's why time progresses in game. So anyone got any dirt? I ain't talking any "it's a video game" kinda trash cause there's probably going to be a deeper meaning to it. Bungie themselves said there's still secrets to the vault. They could've been the NTTE quest but I doubt it.

  • Atheon controls time so whenever he'd die he would alter the past to prevent his death...HOWEVER either Kabr or Praedyth (don't remember which one) created a paradox so no matter what Atheon does he is doomed to infinity die for eternity

    • The vault is essentially a tie (cross point) of multiple time lines and realities. Each one being connected by the vault. But on the outside; are completely intangible by one another. (At least that's my interpretation) That's why praedyth became an anomaly. A version of him became self aware, fabricating a ripple in the vault. Meaning numerous of versions of praedyth would enter the vault. Each becoming lost. Some dying (like the one we found). Some never existing, and just a few paradoxical files of praedyth on a ghost (what you found in the NTTE quest. And some working; attempting to reel themselves out. By this logic, the vault is essentially a cross point between multiple dimensions. Meaning that between these multiple timelines, there is only one vault. In one version; atheon created the vault. In other, the vault created him. But at one point or another; they became one place, entity, and idea. This means atheon's quidity was stringed upon multiple versions of himself and the vault. So atheon cannot be dead so long as the vault exists. And the vault will never cease in calculation so long as there is a version of atheon. Yes in the NTTE quest, we are told the last thoughts of a version of atheon. Insinuating that a form of atheon has died. However, we had already killed (pushed really) atheon before. Perhaps this is due to praedyth's meddling. Or maybe the aegis (aka kabr), and its ability to not be erased. Or maybe it was us. Or maybe in another timeline, the taken, or even Skolas succeeded is finding a way to control the vault Or maybe all the above What we do know is that a version of atheon has died. For good. We have made a hair line fracture in the vault of glass. Their casual loops are being unwoven. So maybe, maybe the vex have already lost in this time line. Maybe we have sealed our fate
or I might be over thinking it...
• There's not a deeper meaning, it's the weekly reset. There was a poem we had to read in college about a kid climbing a tree. It got harder to climb the older he got until he couldn't climb it anymore. Apparently, this poem is not about accepting getting older or reflecting on the past that others can now enjoy, it's about erectile dysfunction. It's one of those moments when you no longer take it seriously because you look at it and just say "really?" in disappointment. So you're trying to tell me that you think the weekly resets of the game are somehow part of the story, because Tuesday is atheon's favorite day or something, yet no one in the game has ever noticed or said anything. Really? Think you're giving the vague backstory on the flashcards way too much credit.

        • Ok. We all killed will kill and have killed Atheon, at the same time. When you get the "Times vengeance" buff what is actually happening is all the guardians from all timelines are attacking at once.

          • I never die. Time reverts back to a point when you haven't killed me yet.

              • Atheon controls time, but only in the vault of glass. Meaning in the vault of glass, he never truly died. In terms of story, his influence is dead because we killed him in our timeline

              • Atheon died. Vex die, given that constructs like the restorative mind exist. You can replay most missions in the game, just because the game would have nothing without that. Don't try to excuse it with time travel when we've definitely killed Crota, Oryx and Skolas yet they reset.

                  • He can NEVER be completely killed. He is time's Conflux...he controls all aspects, in all dimensions. If we were to "kill" him, his past form would already be correcting the flaw and becoming more powerful, only to be sent to our time and fights us again. He is infinite.
