Only 3% of the Community even participates in ToO. Bungie fail.

Bungie, according to your "Statistics of the Week", 820,986 people participated in ToO this weekend, and of those, 133,444 made it to The Lighthouse. So, using your (bogus) statistic that 25 million people are playing Destiny, that means that only 3% of the Community [i]even participates[/i] in this PvP endgame content. Moreover, [i]less than 1%[/i] of the Community enjoy the rewards of Mercury! Do you consider these numbers some kind of success? You shouldn't. What you've created [i]at the expense of the [b]entire[/b] Community [/i]- given that every minute spent devoted to ToO development and maintenance is time/energy away from the rest of the game - is an endgame activity that a miniscule fraction of the Community [i]even tries[/i]. I am interested in hearing other folks' opinions on whether and how ToO could be made more accessible to more people. I have two suggestions that are sure to raise the hackles of the ToO pros: 1. Once you go flawless on a particular character, that character is no longer eligible to compete in ToO until the next weekend. For those of you badass enough to do it, you can take all three of your Guardians to The Lighthouse, you simply can't keep playing on the same character once he/she has been there. 2. Provide optional matchmaking. Perhaps, go so far as to have two separate ToO: pre-made fireteams and matchmade fireteams. Hell, you could even slightly reduce the quality of the rewards in the matchmade Trials league, though this seems unnecessary, given that going flawless would be arguably harder with a matchmade team of randoms. Now, these suggestions will piss-off anyone who already thinks this game caters to casual players - which it really doesn't; a game with this much grind can't be enjoyed casually - but understand that my motivation here is to challenge Bungie to really use these numbers they vomit at us each week, and ask whether what they are doing is working. Ninety-seven percent - that's 24,250,000 players! - don't even step foot in ToO. Successful endgame content, Bungie? I think not.

        • That 1% is the people who are good at crucible. Trials and iron banner. The other 2% are trying but the 97% ( you know who you are) are the noobs who cry nerf coz your too bad. Destiny is for pros not scrubs. COD is for noobs. Go to that.

            I've said this when ToO first came out. Osiris should be on mercury for flawless guardians. The gear is better, perks are better, insert idea, etc. Only flawless players in the lobby. This would create a more intense and skilled play style that would be desirable for the pvp elite. But, I don't think that they should lock out players from normal play. Just create a node for elite players to enjoy the skills they have honed.

                  • They should've kept the connection as matchmaking and just added the record as well I've been 8-0 3 times in a row and lose to a team that is lagging idk it's just annoying as FUQ going 8-0 and losing to lag

                        First, they said it was 25 million [i]registered[/i] users. That does not mean all 25 million are actively playing. Secondly, Elimination game types have historically low populations relative to other pvp game types in [i]every[/i] shooter except CS. The general population simply does not find elimination enjoyable, and that is okay.

                        • The statistic was that they had hit 25 million unique users total since launch. If you look at the trophies for ps4, it's actually closer to about 30% of that number that played it for longer than 1 hour. And only about 2% of that (the 25 million) has beaten oryx HM. It also appears that only about 13% of that are regular players. So globally there probably around 2.5-3.5 million players who are active.

                          • I believe the trial numbers are not a representation of how bad engagement is but rather the population is hemorrhaging. The number of I quit posts has doubled on a daily basis and they aren't just in #feedback. #Destiny is now filling up with them as well. I expect to see a half baked attempt to get players back sometime in December.

                            • Trials should have stayed Elimination in crucible. The whole find Osiris theme should have been a Raid. It's was a PvE game & now it's PvP. Oh well. To many games out here to cry over spilt milk

                            • Here's my take on trials. Give the flawless guys their emblem and adept gear, but at least let people who get nine wins go to the light house and nab the grimoire. That wouldn't be so bad.

                                It's supposed to be elite scrub get gud. Everybody who really cares anymore just knocks a couple out Friday anyway or when they can. It's not as serious and nobody has much desire

                                    I blame the shotgun nerfing, made it easier for those not sniping to get to the lighthouse... Now you need a serious strategy to neutralize snipers which means great team and great communication, great chemistry as well... Ppl are just sitting back and hardscoping these days, if you dont know how to handle that situation you will lose 100% of the time. Get a good team, practice in the crucible and get good, you can make it to mercury if ur not shit in pvp regardless of guns you use, opponents etc. Its like a sport any team can win on any given day, but you gotta play like a team and you gotta be good. Period.

                                    • This idea of locking out good players to lower the bar for average players to get rewards was proposed endlessly in year 1 and I think it's a terrible idea. The reason being is you can complete bounties and get gear and guns without ever going to the lighthouse so the only difference really is the emblem and adept next to the guns you get from the chest. That is an achievement that shouldn't be easy or watered down or it devalues and demeans the achievement. If you can't get there, then practice and coordinate and get better so you can feel the sense of achievement of getting there. Don't expect hand outs... Get adept my friends. Don't expect adept rewards to be handed to inept players.

                                          • Trials is meant for the best of the best. Creating two different matchmaking for premade fireteams and not premade fireteams will never work. By that logic you're going to be asking for two separate matchmaking for raids as well. And if you say I'm bringing in a completely unrelated topic, I don't see how I am. No body ever complains about the way pve is run because pve is easy. But those that lack the required pvp skill to do well in iron banner and ToO will always complain. As I said before trials is meant for the best of the best. The only reason only 3 percent of the community plays is because those who aren't good enough to do well realize that, and don't attempt it. Maybe you should do the same
