I really want to know because I, for one, am not disappointed. I feel that everyone hyped the gun up so much, saying its the next Gjallarhorn, and spending days searching for clues on the forums. I feel it is because of all of this that we, the community, we ourselves up to be disappointed.
The say I see it, we had unrealistically high expectations.
It was clear that Bungie did not like the Gjallarhorn because it was seen as the only useful heavy weapon and it made the community, like on LFG and other places, were very exclusive with who they wanted to do the raid and nightfall with, which made a negative experience for anyone who did not have it (like me). Bungie did not want "the next Gjallarhorn."
Overall, I think the Sleeper Stimulant is strong with high damage on each shot and balanced by the slow fire rate and low ammo capacity (which is more DPS than the Raze-Lighter RT attack (which everyone said was OP)) not to mention it has range, where the swords do not. I think that it is good and plan to use it a lot.

I'm disappointed that you called it "stimulant" not "simulant".

1 ReplyI'm a lil disappointed in the quest that came to get it. So much hype, so lil to do in order to get it. I also expected some fancy secrets to appear that we had to solve before we were able to unlock it. Additionally, I thought something was said about there being 50 pieces, or something to that effect, or was that meant as Calcified Fragments? I don't know, I like the weapon and it definitely works well for what it's designed for. I guess I just expected more "work" to get it.

2 RepliesWell it's definitely not a new gally, but if anyone has noticed in the exotic weapon kiosk the sleeper is listed as a special weapon. So that leaves three open spots in the heavy weapon section. My thought is that one of those three spots could be possibly a replacement for gally.

It does a shit ton of damage but I was expecting more ammo because it's a fusion rifle and ricochet rounds isn't an amazing exotic perk it's already on hard light and dregs promise, I saw one guy say that the exotic perk should be that the shot when it hits one enemy or critical hit them bounce off and hit another enemy as well and then the last perk do that multiple times

1 ReplyI think it sucks because of its low ammo capacity. It is an exotic heavy, it needs to hold more ammo.

This gun is awesome. Goliath tanks melt with just 3 shots. Level 3 Ogre in CoO dead with 6 shots. Adds all gone with Rick shot. If you equip launcher and use 6 shots then swap to SS you will get 7 more shots from your last rocket. That's 14 shots of heavy from 1 pack. More if you have a perk for extra rockets on armour. In theory you could get 15 or more shots this way. That is some heavy duty damage from one pack.

I don't understand the low ammo issue Rockets are only 6 and as does 8-10 more damage than a rocket It's not a machine gun It's not a sniper 7 is about right

Also may I add a question. I was doing the saber strike and just after you run the orb/relic to the slot and the next room opens I jumped in and fired of the sleeper on a major taken and booom several fires erupted in the room. It could have been a titan or a taken who spits fire but it seemed like it was coming from the sleeper shot. Anyone else had this happened or was it just an illusion?

It is way more balanced now in some aspect. The sword kills a light 280 major in about the same time it takes to charge and unleash the sleeper. The only difference is the sword need several hits while sleeper is a one hit. However (not being a big deal since gally reigned supreme) rockets are utterly useless now in my opinion. MGs are better in dmg output and so are the swords and the sleeper. I love the sleeper, the feel and the slow aim makes it seem like a real heavy hitter. Voidanchor and a couple of shots brings down the health of atleast strike bosses a lot.

And its worth it.. puts in work on most bosses mines only 298 attack right now..

4 RepliesOnly real complaint is the ammo, 7 just isnt enough imo

And a lot of the sources of disappointment hail from the changes from the initial review of the weapon
