Luke Smith is Awesome (Revised)

After seeing a majority of comments being positive about Luke Smith this thread is now only about one thing... Getting Luke Smith to respond to his still devoted fans. Bump until Deej and Cozmo see and force Luke Smith to reply.

  •
Call me a fanboy or a desticle but I actually like Luke Smith.
I think Smith is a nauseating tub of blubber and all-around obnoxious sack of shit, but I certainly don't think you liking Smith automatically makes you a fanboy or a desticle.
Let me start by saying his "throwing money at the screen" comments were unacceptable because it shows the greed of bungie.
Greed is S.O.P. in any business venture. The comment was unacceptable because it evidenced outright contempt for gaming consumers. If he thinks that little of us, he can always quit game development and scrub public toilets for a living.
That being said, I feel the best hope for Destiny's future is Luke Smith.
That brings back unpleasant memories of President Obama's comments upon reappointing Ben Bernanke as chairman of the Federal Reserve Board.
From what I am seeing so far
Which at this early stage is almost nothing.
He admits that the game has its faults and even during one interview he admits that destiny year 1 had no story.
That's kinda like admitting that water is wet. Smith is loathsome, but he certainly isn't stupid enough to deny the painfully obvious.
Luke Smiths greatest strength is that he is honest.
I tend to agree. Smith's contemptible, but at least he doesn't pretend to give a god-diddly-damn about the consumer as so many others at Bungie do. We at least know exactly where we stand with Smith.
I like him and I think he is going to make destiny the game we all want.
Smith's prowess as a game designer is beyond dispute. I may well be living in a fool's paradise, but I too still have hope for Destiny.

That being said, I feel the best hope for Destiny's future is Luke Smith. TTK is his brain child. From what I am seeing so far he has taken (pun) destiny to a whole new level with some of the changes coming in TTK. He admits that the game has its faults and even during one interview he admits that destiny year 1 had no story. Luke Smiths greatest strength is that he is honest. From a company that never gives you a straight answer he is the one who will tell you like it is to IMPROVE the game. I like him and I think he is going to make destiny the game we all want. Edit: for those that agree or disagree watch this video and then tell me what you think. http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2015/08/05/104-questions-and-answers-about-destiny-the-taken-king.aspx
Frankly I have difficulty watching more than 3 minutes of this interview. Both had opportunity to answer serious issues and consumer questions yet find it funny to laugh , or say maybe .. Maybe ? Is this really the way forward does this seem like the man in whom we trust ?? He looks like he needs a bloody good wash and exercise it may get his little grey cells working. No I'm far from impressed .

The guy has always been an asshat/douchebag, anyone who was part of the Halo community for years already knows this. Honestly most of Bungie's employees now seem like a bunch of arrogant asshats with the comments they make and how they have to cuss in interviews to try to appeal to the younger crowd who think its cool. It is almost like they are trying to be too cool to fit in now and they fail completely at it. Not sure at what point most of their devs and employees became d-bag college frat boys, but that is what they act like now. This is not the community oriented Bungie I remember from the past.

        • Anyone who can read could improve on destiny. They have a year worth of player feed back. He will be judged on how much destiny is improved not if it was.

          • The "throwing money" comment was out of context. The game coming up was so good in his opinion that he thought we would be throwing money at the screen in eagerness to buy the game. You didn't read the original interview either, huh?

            • Would all you morons stop trying to justify his "throw money at the screen" comment. You're pathetic for even trying to defend his ass after he just sh1t talked you to your face.

                • Honestly his 104 questions video is one of the best videos I've ever seen about Destiny, it's obvious the guy really cares about what he does. Is he a polished PR guy? Nope, but I think that's part of why I enjoy him so much.

                    • To be fair the throwing money at the screen was a fair comment we like the game so we do it, and I have never played a game so much, and least he recognizes that there are changes to be made and is trying to rectify them

                      • The "throw money" comment gets him a -1. The "guy you pulled your internet cord on" referring to us fighting Crota was hilarious, gets him a +1, so he is even on my scorecard.

                          • The problem with Smith's "money" comments was one simple thing. Context. The interview was the wrong context for Smith, because when taken in the context of his personality, the remarks are much less benign. It was a joking thing. Had he said it on video people would've laughed and just let it go; but since it was on paper you didnt get the context of his personality, the way he would've said it and the humor of it. It came off the wrong way and everyone instantly got butthurt and lit the torches, then grabbed the pitchforks. Video is the best medium for him as his personality comes through and puts the things he says in a better context. He's a good guy, just watch his 104 questions video with Game Informer and it comes across.

                            • His comment about throwing the screen wasn't really wrong. Alot of people were going to rebuy destiny for the collecters edition or whatever just for happy meal toys and emotes. We all kind of new it and he just said it.

                            • TTK seems like a saving grace because it's what we've wanted since the pre-alpha footage. This is more what E3 of the game E3 hinted. The lack of content and maintenance within a game that costs collectively 95-$100 it's absolutely asinine. It's disgusting and makes it feel like the first year of Destiny was nothing more that a social experiment. TTK is going be amazing, but why couldn't we have this large, expansive, Dinkle-less world to begun with? It's very disappointing to see the direction of modern gaming, and the dependence and fragility of the consumer. Together, we've all allowed practices like this to live on. What Year 2 players get is, for the same price, a genuinely amazing game. And that's great for them, but it just pains me to see them rush this game so much and not just have released it as it is in year 2 for a 2015 launch. While the community has been here with amazing feedback, great artwork, streamers that adore their fans as much as they love him/her, and some great friendships to be made in the world of Destiny, it still wasn't the best. Developers should take pride in their work, and there is no reason to release anything but their best. I refuse to believe the latency, the filler, the voice acting, the cinematics, the initial drop rates, upgrade system, loot system, amount of content, crucible, exotic design, perks, lack of raids/strikes, and DLC present on disk was their best. It's good to see Destiny grow, but it's sad to see how it's growing is all.
