Bungie made a mistake of implementing the reward system as it currently functions, because it's encouraged a very overzealous and possessive attitude regarding weapons and gear. Personally, I get tired of using Fatebringer Black Hammer and Ghorn, because those weapons are vastly superior to other weapons in its archetype and they get the Grindy content done quick. I want variety. I want something fresh.

This. This. This. This. And a bit of this.

My question is...
WHY IN THE FLYING FUCK ARE THEY REPLACING WEAPONS IN EACH EXPANSION!?!?!?! THEY SHOULD BE ADDING ON TO WHAT THEY HAVE!!!!!
61 RepliesHonestly, there are so many weapons that have been introduce in Year One that throw the sandbox out if balance. While they will still be valid in many aspects of the game, I like that we're being encouraged to change things up. I love my LDR 5001, but I can live without it.
-
1 ReplyI'm tired of people that crying for their Fatebringers will be left behind in the year 2.
-
You're right! In many MMOs, what was old was very fun compared to new things. I will really miss killing the oracles, dying to Crota every time, getting a Ghorn and then the best one getting shards and energies. And in the future everybody saying "this new raid is shit. Vault of glass was much better" like in world of warcraft. Bungie's plan with destiny was to be like any other MMO but first person... sad. I'm writting this on phone, sorry for grammar mistakes.

2 RepliesYes, new weapons sure will be cool, and we know good part of them will be a lot better than Fatebringer, Black Hammer, or even Gjallarhorn. But we spent all our time on getting these weapons. Some weapons we took weeks to collect material to reforge them over and over and over, we fought the rock-like-hard Skolas many times to get the elemental damage primary weapons, we faced highly skilled guardians in the trials and spent lots of coins to reach the incredible lighthouse. I don't care if I will lose my Fatebringer, even if it ia the best handcannon available. But there are some weapons that we have special feelings. Who of you guys remember the first legendary weapon you got? I remember like if it was yesterday. I opened one of those beautiful Crucible packages, and BAM, it drops a delightful Against All Odds. I still have it with my Hunter, and I will never dismantle it, no matter how it costs. But I would like to carry it in my Hunter's back, not sending it to a dusty corner of the vault. I know Bungie, that you have difficulties in increasing vault space, but please, let us ascend our favorite weapons. Let us decide which weapons we want to carry on, new or old ones. Let us walk in the tower with our Fatebringers and showing the newbies that we are not only guardians, but LEGENDARY guardians, that use old rusted weapons to break havoc in enemy territory.

Super bump.

2 RepliesIf you knew it was becoming useless why waste all that getting it then turn around and complain how its becoming useless, thats your own fault
-
6 RepliesEdited by EmperorFi5h: 8/7/2015 3:49:47 PM3 is a good point. Why would one ever -blam!-ing set foot in a VoG again if everything in there is useless. No reason to do old raids.
-
1 ReplyThe new gear is supposedly better.

-
As much as i dont care about old weapons being useless, at least on one thing you are extremely correct: old raids will make no sense anymore, as well as their gear.
-
Very well said. However since I've had all of my favorite weapons for many months I cannot empathize with this argument
-
Well said. Simply stated, the reason why I play the game and do the raids is to get the specific weapons AND ascend them. I thought Bungie liked the spike in the people doing the raids again now that they are manageable and not too difficult - 5 hour grindfest only to not complete them. This is a very bad decision, IMHO.

5 RepliesI suspect that the reason Bungie-Vision is silent on this issue is because it is 100% true. Our hard earned weapons are toast. They can't talk about it because it could tank their sales figures. I bet that it already is doing just that.
-
That's why I will just play destiny till fallout 4 comes out. On that game we grab our weapons during the whole game. I spent a year fighting and searching the best weapons and now they're just useless garbage? In fact I spent a year to figure out that problably destiny is not my kind of game. I want to play the game my way, not bungie's way. And if I can't decide how to play a game, I don't want to play this game anymore.

Edited by Octopus: 8/8/2015 9:03:28 AMhave fun with endlessly grinding another year for "new" stuff to finally get it, although one year maybe won't be enough time, as even today there are enough ppl hunting stuff they never got, just to see them becoming useless again for the next year...this is so stupid! this is so retarded! this is something i can't accept, as i would feel like a bungie-puppet without any brain, when accepting this...i say, f'k you, play the game W/O buying TTK, play what is already paid, with guns still useable, when NOT buying TTK until the next good game enters the market...like FO4, as FO3 is to me, till today best game ever ,) and btw, it's funny when ppl call destiny a mmo with the fact that you see max 2-3 guardians the same time on planet's areas lol...no multi-massive open world events, where tons of ppl fighting enemies...at defiance, a mmo on ps3(!!!!!!!) you had these things...hundreds(!!!) fighting on an ark-fall the SAME time! and that was ps3 lol...TESO with hundreds(!!!!) playing pvp on a map 20x bigger as the whole destiny universe...idk, i started playing destiny march, so not that long, have ALL guns except one, the praetorian foil, already ENDLESSLY bored! as it's not the old guns that are boring, but the LACK OF CONTENT, STORY, that nowadays even the most lousy games have...to me, TTK, destiny, whatever...this game stinks so much that it's not even worth to argue with it anymore...especially when it's led by a bunch of stupids, greedy and planless...sry, but just mho^^ with CoD's 6vs6 and it's zombie-coop with 4 you could easily call this a MMO too hahaha^^ destiny a MMO? i LMFAOROFL xDDDD

4 RepliesEdited by TheDirtyDingus_: 8/7/2015 4:45:20 PMAgree with all your points and all of them lead to another point. Why would Bungie not want to advertise an immense and vast arsenal? If tons of people still rock Fatebringer, so be it. That means you created a kickass weapon and raises the bar to create something even better. You don't throw the bar away and start all over again. There is no logic in this except if they'd run out of ideas and want to force you to use their new weapons. It also begs another question. If brand new players can get a buff and start TTK's story from jump as was stated in the interview, why would anyone want to run the old raids? To get weapons/armor no one needs? This is super dumb. I've really wracked my brain over this and the logic makes no sense. Again, you would think they'd want the game to be super big. You'd think they'd want the new and old players to have a reason to run Crota and VOG. Why would you now? A chance at an exotic? To everyone who jumps all over anyone who speaks out about this, I sincerely invite you to explain the logic for me. What exactly am I and an OVERWHELMING MAJORITY OF PLAYERS missing here?

2 RepliesAs a PvE-centric player, It's unbelievably disappointing that my newly completed set of Trials Armor and Adept weapons is already being outmoded. Again, I'm not a PvP player, so getting all the Trials gear was a big deal for me, and the idea of having to get those Adept weapons, again, is seriously disheartening.

11 RepliesI jumped into this game with Bungie's promise that this would be a ten year adventure, and that promise is about to be broken. Forcing us to discard our favorite gear really breaks the continuity of this experience for many, and doesn't make any practical sense as a design decision. The argument that this game must adhere to stale MMO tropes to remain exciting is ridiculous, and based on radically different experiences than a "shared world FPS" like Destiny. My favorite gear so far has been Iron Banner armor and weapons, first for personal reasons based on design and the insignia, then for the nice function of the weapons. I'd like the choice of ascending the gear I love, or adopting new gear, not a top down decision imposed upon me. The new foundry stuff looks like generic COD or Mass Effect designs, and seems to have lost the nice space magic vibe I've grown to love. We just want choice, that's all, and keeping weapons in play generates greater variety in the end.
-
1 ReplyYeah, I've spent a lot of time on this game. I'm not going to be a part of a game that forces me to get rid of the weapons and armor that I've worked for.
-
You know what. I just go trolled because I agree with this bullshite. We should takr year ones with us fatebringer gjallarhorn and all my current exotics. Theres just no way I spent a whole year collecting those just to scrap them. They will change this or I wont be playing destiny anymore.

Edited by ManUJ3zP: 8/9/2015 4:05:04 PMI think raid weapons should be the only legendaries ascended. Reason: they are the rewards for completing the hardest challenges in the game. If the Vault of Glass, Crota's End, Prison of Elders (Skolas' Revenge), and Trials of Osiris aren't ascended to the new level, then there is no reason to play those modes. Even though I suck at Trials and only killed Skolas once, knowing that the weapons and armor awarded are going to be obsolete, I am never touching those modes again. No reward: no motivation to play. Bungie might as well just sell the taken king without the year one content. It'll be possibly cheaper too.

I got my messenger by going flawless. It was hard, stressful and time consuming. I don't fancy doing it again to get the new version.
