I have been playing this game since a few hours after the release of the beta. I have played regularly sense that time. In that time I have beat every story mission on the hardest difficulty (heroic story), I have done every nightfall more times then I can count (Including the newest one). I have killed atheon more times then I can count on both difficulties. I have killed Crota more times then I can count on both difficulties. I've done every 32 and 34 PoE on all 3 of my characters each week sense release. The only part of this game I haven't beat more times then I can count is Skolas and I've damn near beat him. I have never received a gally. Not once. Have I not worked hard enough for one in your opinion? Gally is a random drop. That means that neither skill or hard work have anything to do with you getting one. Some players that use one regularly only beat parts of the game because they have one and got one on their first nightfall. Others, like me, have done without out this whole time and still have yet to get one. This is where Xur comes in. He evens things out. Through Xur those of us with unlucky drop rates have a chance to get some of the good weapons we simply are not lucky enough to get the way you do. I will also point out that Xur doesn't deal in glimmer. He deals in coins. Those coins used to be something you had to get from completing weekly/nightfall strikes or daily story missions. None of those 3 gave you enough to buy a weapon from just one run. That means that players that purchased weapons from Xur during that time Had to work harder and do more then those players that joined a nightfall strike and got that weapon the first time. Personally I think the community has abused this weapon by acting like its gods gift to Destiny and insisting that players have one to take part. Perhaps they should remove it all together like they did the loot cave.
