Trials is not for everyone...but IT SHOULD BE!!!
I read many different posts on this forum regarding problems with Trials of Osiris. The most common, and ultimately stupid, remarks when people are having trouble with the game type are..."Get Gud Scrub" or "Trials is only for elite players".
To everyone that thinks that, you're missing the whole point of this game and giving the community a bad name. Content should not be limited to a small number of people. If you paid for the content (which Trials was in the bundle, there was no option not to purchase it if you aren't elite at PvP), it should be geared so that everyone can play it.
I have a very good team, but we are not elite. My K/D is just below 1.0, but I provide good damage over time, good grenades, good communication, and quick revives to keep my team in the game. Because of this, I have tons of assists. My team consistently gets 8-9 wins each week but it is NEVER flawless. That is in large part due to LAG switchers, D-Dos cheaters, horrible connections and even the all-too-common random game kicks by Bungie's network. There are times we get beat legitimately too so I'm not saying those are the only reasons. We still LOVE Trials and play it all weekend.
MY EASY FIX TO TRIALS OF OSIRIS...
REMOVE THE LOSSES FROM THE SCORECARD!!!!
This will do a few things...
1. Weaker players can still grind out 9 wins and get to the lighthouse. It may take awhile but it will definitely make it possible. It will still be just as easy for the Elites.
2. This will stop all the segregated hate on the forums where people say "Have an emblem or you'll be kicked", "Must have gone Flawless", "Must have a K/D above 1.5". If losses aren't a factor, teams will be more open to playing with randoms and have more fun.
3. This will stop all the "Pay me for a trip to the lighthouse" donation garbage from streamers and elites. A lot of people are making money off of the players that can't finish it. I notice it because my team consistently crushes full Exotic Emblem teams that were obviously carried. That will stop if everyone can go. Nobody is paying money to get to Rank 5 in Iron Banner, and to the best of my knowledge, nobody paid for Raids or POE completions (maybe I'm wrong about this, I just know I never saw donation requests on LFG for anything but Trials).
The bottom line is, making Trials accessible for everyone would be really easy. To everyone that shows their ignorance all the time, QUIT HATING ON PEOPLE WHO STRUGGLE!! Instead of putting everyone down, HELP THEM OUT!!
If anyone reading this would like some help, message me on XBox One sometime. I can't guarantee a lighthouse trip, but my clan will help out as best we can. At least, maybe we can help you get some armor, have some fun and teach you some strategies.
Edit: This is why I never post on the Forums. For everyone that thinks Destiny has this great community, IT REALLY DOESN'T. I was simply trying to post a possible solution that could benefit everyone, and offer help to others that are missing out on something that they paid for, when all of the Elite people who feel like they are deserving of something (IN A VIDEO GAME!!!) that others aren't have ruined it. I have gotten some positive feedback (And I thank you) but most of it has been extremely negative, FOR NO REASON!!
I just keep reading people say the equivalent of..."HEY, I'M BETTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE, THIS DOESN'T AFFECT ME AND I LIKE THINGS JUST THE WAY THEY ARE...YOU'RE STUPID FOR THINKING IT SHOULD BE FOR EVERYONE!!!

4 RepliesPersonally, I think that if a team goes to the lighthouse they cannot partake in the trials the following week. This will lessen the amount of better PVP players and give others a chance. But you're right, the community here is horrible. It used to be good when the game came out, but when everyone thought they were better than everyone, enter your prototypical douschebag. It's a shame I personally don't even bother with the trials. I have a pretty solid KD but as long as there's lag, as long as two guns dominate PVP, as long as I keep getting matched up against flawless players, I'm happy and content in PVE

Everyone can play it that has access to it..doesn't mean ur gonna win tho! Have u completed everything in every game you've played ? I know I haven't, but it doesn't mean they should change the game/rules just to suit me/everyone .

Well, honestly, you do just need to get better. Lag switches suck, but if they take away my ability to showcase my skill, I'm gonna flip out. They won't, so your wasting your breathe. But seriously, the moment you go to the lighthouse makes all the other crap worth it. It's supposed to be the ultimate reward. I'm tired of seeing people whine about things that are skill based. It's what it's designed for, deal with it. You are obviously just posting in the hopes that someone agrees but not many do. It's a game mode reserved for skill. It should stay that way.

1. It's easy to find a team for trials. Make a post asking for people. 2. People will pay for easy mode no matter what. People paid for prestige lobbies in CoD. 3. You have access to the content. You don't need 9-0 to buy from brother Vance. 9-0 IS (whether you like it or not) meant to be for the elite (granted there is a lot of cheaters). The lighthouse is meant to be fought for and earned. ToO is meant to be a tournament. You can't kick someone out of tournaments just because they previously won (got 9-0 this week or last). And if you are going to separate leagues then only the top league should be allowed the chest and it's items. Anything that's meant to be competitive will have its "elitist" and trying to make the non-elitist have the same shot ruins the whole competitive nature. The elitist weren't always elite. Practice makes perfect.

15 RepliesYea waste of my time but worth it, if you can get 8-9 wins you are getting rewards ur gonna cry because you can't get to the lighthouse? they did keep the casual gamer in mind I.e you. if you keep getting to 8-9 wins you have a chance at an exotic, armor ethric light and gear. so play smarter and don't lose if you want to see it that badly. I never thought I would but I have 5 times now. Tired of all the crying on the forums about this. if you want a burn primary go do a raid I'm sure you will get plenty, damn kids these days spoiled as f u ck

This is called communism. Destiny is a free market economy. Capitalism. The American Dream. We all have the chance, we just have to make the best of it. We all have the potential and the opportunity to become multimillionaires in the USA, but not everyone will. Not everyone has the discipline, the smarts, support, or the luck. We all have the potential and the opportunity to go to the lighthouse, but not everyone has the skill, the fire team support, the gear, or the luck. Just like the real world, the rich continue to get richer. It's easier to make money if you have money and you already know how to do it. The elite who continually go flawless will continue to do so because thy can. Bungee has set for the same requirements and opportunity for the trials of Osiris to players of all skill levels. Some just don't measure up. You didn't pay for the lighthouse. You paid for the opportunity to get there.

I'm a PVE player and average a .8 or so in the crucible. To tell you the truth I could care less. Saying trials should be for everyone is ridiculous. Not all PVP players can do raids so why make their pretty much only thing something for PVE players who get way more content.

2 RepliesYour post is very good and I must say I agree with everything you have said. I would add another option for Trials that would balance the competition and make it more accessible to everyone. Match the teams with other teams that have similar total ranks. In other words handicap the teams. Elite teams of 9/10 rank players can play against other 10/10 rank players and try and climb a leader board. Match the 2/10 against 2/10 and when they improve bump them against 5/10 rank teams. I have managed large sporting leagues and nothing created more interest than competition and climbing the leaderboard. I'm sure that the idea could use refinement but the general concept would be beneficial to all players.

Make each card have only 1 loss circle and a less than flawless card resulted in an RNG chance at an adept weapon (put it on par with Skolas drops) at the Lighthouse not a guarantee while a flawless card stayed as a gauranteed weapon drop. Edit: And no, I've not been to the Lighthouse, but I do agree Trials needs to involve more of the player base while still reserving an accomplishment for great players.

I really like that idea, or maybe they should have it where if you get 9 wins you get to go to the lighthouse and you just can't lose 3 times, because 9 wins is hard enough without it being flawless. -blam!-, for most people 9 flawless wins is nothing but impossible. Ive gotten up to only 7 wins with countless attempts and I'm really getting sick of it completely. If im not kicked from error codes its either a loss from lag switchers or super elitists and its ridiculous.

Not a bad idea. But I suck at (and dislike, hence why I suck, probably) pvp so of course I'm in favor. All the get good scrublord elitist snowflakes will tell you different though. And yes, this community is the absolute worst. About 1-3% are decent folk. At best an overestimation! Plus I bought the game for playing with, not against guardians. So I've never had much interest in the competitive portion. That's the part of this game that breeds/attracts the elitist scrublord turds. We'd be better off without pvp I think. No reason you wouldn't want others getting good gear then. Which would mean more helpful people. And less hostility towards each other. But pvp provides the extended life of a game, pve just births the game.

While I don't agree with the elitist additude in the trials and the donation thing for streamers I feel as if the losses are important. So what if you can't make it to the lighthouse. No big deal. I have never made it. And I am not that good a pvp. Best I managed so far is 5 wins. But that is ok.

I'm not sure what is best - I'm terrible at PVP I have not got any thing from trials and I would luv to get gud!! Maybe one day

3 RepliesI have been flawless and think they need to put in a bracket system, once you go 9-0 for the week on a character that character needs to be put in a 9-0 only match making. It would give people a chance to not have to play these really good teams and the cheaters would be in that bracket to.

1 ReplyGeez let us decent PvP players have one aspect in Destiny. trials is FINE! And this from a player that some weekend we go flawless, and some weeks we don't. I appreciate the pure, real challenge. About the only thing in Destiny that is pure competition level stuff, 90%of the game is PvE content. Eaither try getting better like the rest of us, or go play PvE, or control etc.
