It’s F-ing overkill, beyond overkill.
First, log into a grandmaster and you’re given a 45 minute timer?? That’s a positive sign, spend about a whole hour on a singular mission you could easily fail and lose all progress.
Second, now in grandmaster and “ultimate” activities. Not only is out damage output nerfed by making all enemies 15+ light stronger or so, enemies also inherently tougher in these modes and have stronger shields or take more damage to stun.
All this on paper is sure to sound cool to a streamer and the 1% crowd who need to sweat to have fun, but this whole system has effectively killed primary ammo weapon types in all endgame modes.
Enemies are so ridiculously overpowered and primary’s are so weak … that you are basically relying solely on heavy and special weapons and abilities for all damage and as clear and you only ever use a primary weapon to occasionally break a champion shield or elemental shield if your lucky enough that you have the right element.
The only fix is not a buff to all primary weapons, which woudont make a crap of a difference in this endgame economy, but it’s to make enemies take normal damage regardless of the game mode. The only change is that we take more damage in end game modes and that enemies deal a lot more damage too at the same time. More Fragile + harder hitting enemies.
Making totally normal red bar and orange bar enemies basically Mini raid or sung one bosses in terms of how much damage it takes to put them down is only making end game content unnecessarily difficult.
The game can both be hard and not remove the power fantasy of nuking entire waves of enemies with you exotics or abilities. If you have to take out your best dps for an orange bar, forget about anything worse than that. You need the whole fireteam attacking the same champion or yellow bar if you hope to kill it in under 5 minutes

PVE content has been ruined for me. I miss the old balance. I miss chilling out in pve content, grinding, patrol. The power deltas, uninspired and tedious puzzles, or dying a dozen times in a jumping puzzle until I find the one path I was supposed to go. I routinely uninstall. The only thing that keeps me coming back is pvp. I buy season passes and don't do HALF the content because I find it so insufferable. I just suffer enough to get what I need for the crucible and that's all.

I've always said that as the power deficit increases the more the sandbox starts to break down. Weaker weapons that would just be viable on at level difficulties are suddenly turned into useless peashooters. You also get a ton less bang for your buck from weapon damage increases because your damage output is lower while enemy health remains the same. It also causes a lot more lag and issues when the power deficit increases due to how many more debuffs can be on alive targets at once. You can throw a few arcane needles on ultimate in Lawless Frontiers and suddenly every enemies is unraveled and lagging all over the place due to how much is going on. Power deficits should only... Increase enemy damage Increase boss health and damage Maybe also increase Champion health and damage Everything else should remain the same regardless of power level.

Working as intended. Bungie’s absolutely moronic philosophy of under delivering as not to create unrealistic high expectations patterns has affected their writing of code . Remember they actually wrote code for this.

Last -50 vanguard ops had overloads on pillars that if you even get up to them its classes as out of bounds whiles stood next to overloads so just shows no thought atall was put into the difficulty increase other than what can we do to piss the players off this time Games OK for the most part but thats because of the ammo generation from the artifact for kinetics which helps alot with the saber, take that away its just boring old sweat fest d2 so end of season will be interesting to see if anyone sticks round if bungie nukes the ammo regen on the saber for it to end up like ergo sum which is trash atm even on prismatic Lastly bungie need to remove timers and losing all revives when timers up it should be all revives stay but killing champs dont give extra comes to timers -blam!- timers

I don’t even recognize this game anymore. Watching streamers solo the most gnarly content by using abilities alone, so many adds and ignitions/suspends/freeze and nonsense garbage happening on the screen I can’t even make sense of it. It’s not even enjoyable to watch. Ability builds seem to have gotten way out of control and primaries have been relegated to being pea shooters. It’s a SHOOTER bungie. Let us shoot. With guns.

you are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT .the game play is miserable . all of the encounters now require master craft and hard builds to do the zone and than you still can't do the encounter because not everyone on the fireteam has ultimate build characters. and the reason only Bungie knows. but it does remind me not to buy anymore game expansions or eververse store add ons.

They want us to use builds and space magic implementing this crappy new armour instead of weapons. It's so much less hassle to slightly alter the way characters play and react, rather than design and add new weapons. The majority of weapons that have been introduced since EoF are either re-releases with a different trait, or an old gun with a different name and a different colour. Renegades has basically been designed around a sword, (the sick that lights up), and the artifact mods corroborate this.

Not excited by the prospect of getting deleted by a torch hammer detonation 5 meters away. This would just further the plink pkaystyle. Everyone would just be hiding in the back with scouts like endgame edge of fate missions. No, bungie just needs to rework power delta and weapon damage entirely. The numbers were good in edge of fate, even after the delta change. The changes they made for renegades has made higher level content an unrewarding, unfun slogfest.

2 RisposteExcept EoF didn’t nerf primaries or buff enemies. Weapons and abilities actually both got net damage buffs and red bar enemies got health nerfs. Primaries have been bad for years because they do terrible damage relative to everything else.

And not just primaries. I tried the GM last night with the MG from equilibrium . Arc surge active, plus Heavy surge this week with 180 weapons and yet it struggled. Went back to with Titan consecration with spirit of severance / contact and in less than 20’ we were collecting the reward, no death.

Most current legendary primaries basically have to have a damage buff up at all times to feel remotely usable in any content with deltas. Utility primaries just cant get the job done unless the build is heavily reliant on ability use for its add clear and mildly supported by the primary. Double special is becoming more needed in the game than it had been in the past, because primaries simply dont get the job done fast enough to be worthwhile. So you need to build into ammo gen to feed the specials. I try to solo the Vanguard Alert GM's every week. At -50, any legendary primary even with a 30% damage buff just doesnt feel like it does enough. I either feel that I need to use an exotic primary, or double special to do any decent amount of damage to red bars, or just use abilities. The game is moving further away from a looter shooter, to a looter ability spam game, because most of our primary weapons, even ones with double damage perks, feel too weak to be used. Nobody gets excited about new primary weapons, other than for PvP use. We get interest at the hybrid weapons like rocket assisted frames because the Rocket Sidearms provide the general base damage that we need for the content that we play. We just need to use sparingly.

Primaries are pointless at this stage. Even in the lower portal activies, taking down a bane requires multiple mags. Who needs primaries when we have a whole bunch of ability spam builds anyway, the game is backards this is supposed to be a shooter eh.

I hate elemental shields, as if the game is spoiled by variety, and options in terms of weapons, I also dislike being tied to the artifact
