So much of this rings familiar to me: "I quit.....," "This game is dead......" Where have I read these things before? 🤔

  • I haven’t entire quit playing myself, but I’ve cut my play time by 95% I’d guess? More importantly, I haven’t dropped bank since LF…I’m sure there are plenty of others like me out there. More than are currently left paying for this. I’m hopeful the end of the year shows some marked improvement to the portal and the meaningless grind. Bungie does seem to be reeling right now, so I think they are feeling the fire beneath their feet to do better.

  • I play frequently but not like I did a few expansions ago. Is it due to changes in the game? I'll admit I'm not fond of some of them and there're certainly bugs that are aggravating as hell, but I'd say it's more likely that I've spent a good deal of time playing 'Destiny' over the past 8-ish years and I've just become interested in other games. Burnout is a real thing. If 'Destiny' were to come to an end in the near future I'd be mildly disappointed, but I also accept that it's inevitably going to happen sooner or later and there's no shortage of great games for me to move onto.

  • I completely agree about how almost a decade of playing might induce a bit of boredom - It did for me. I do play other games to get away from this one from time to time, but I’m on the Xbox, so there isn’t a whole lot that grabs my interest, especially in this genre. That said, nothing ever felt as good as this game used to, from the gun play to the story missions, to the end-game activities. I could have been engaged in that content endlessly if it felt regularly renewed and worth it. I did get my money’s worth out of this game until I stopped spending at LF. I’d just like to find value worth paying for again… it’s part of why I myself post my criticism now instead of praise…sometimes it’s just to complain and be stupid, but mostly I keep hoping someone at Bungie acts on it in a positive way.

  • When you say this genre, how do you mean; FPS, MMO, or the combination of the 2?

  • That’s a tough call. I love the FPS aspect of this game more than anything I’d ever played before. In D1 and the start of D2, I’d have said the MMO aspect just made that even better - strategizing VoG, Crota’s End and such for the first time, or just the weekly NFs. But mostly the FPS aspect, which made all of my time spent in game feel so rewarding I guess.

  • I ask because I've played other FPS games that are quite satisfying (although few match 'Destiny' when it comes to movement and gunplay, to be sure) but were single-player games. Since this is pretty much the only online game I engage with it really opens up a lot of options. As far as being on XBOX, I haven't owned one since the original so I can't make any recommendations there. On the upside, more games are becoming multiplatform now so hopefully your choices will expand in that regard.
