Can we talk about how much of a non starter the “ Tier “ system is?
First… I understand what the current system is and what it is going for. However, to say it accomplishes that is a joke. T5s are not better than T3 or T4 for weapons overall. That is because of the featured system and build crafting being so exotic centric LIKE IT ALWAYS has. The limited amount of new weapons finding synergy in an arsenal and thier perks are infinitely more important than thier tier and many are trash.
T5 armor is better for stats. But with hard weapon/super stat metas for DPS and PVP, recov being completely shafted and hot swapping being so prevalent the higher stats of armor are also completely negligible from a “ good build “ standpoint. No one cares that it has a shiny icon, no one cares that a mid weapon they will never run has a special shader.
Lastly… armor archetypes and set bonuses create even more of a shoehorned meta anytime there is an outlier like Tec Set. Players will run lower tier gear to get a more beneficial set bonus. Again… no one cares about a T5 being “ special “ at the cost of a good and synergistic build. This system is half baked and has done nothing but create an even more rigid meta that ignores the entire point and benefits of the tiered system Bungie is trying to sell us. I could go back and find an infinite amount of comments on the forums that saw this coming but alas… here we are with a pointless system that is novel. One that only seemed good in theory crafting. Just why? Lol

1 RispondiT5 weapons are objectively better than T4. You have all benefits of T4, with the addition of an additional trait in column 3 and 4, and you have enhanced origin traits and it gains 2% additional damage. Now, if you dont get the roll on the weapon that you are looking for, that could make a T4 weapon better for your build than a T5. I have a few T5 weapons, which I use a T4 variant over the T5 because the roll is better for my build. But, if I had that roll in T5, I would 100% be using it. Similarly with the old system and Adept weapons, I have used standard variants of weapons over Adepts because of the roll, so this is nothing new. Tier ALONE, is less relevant than the roll on the weapon. A "great" weapon with a bad roll, is still a bad weapon. Its the trait combo that takes center stage, and T5 gives the best chance to get the roll that you are looking for, but the packaging with barrels and mags and MW still matter as well, and I wish that they had gone the way of raid adepts to allow us to adjust T5 mags and barrels at least.

2 RisposteWell T5 weapons will be easier to get the god rolls you want. But you do need to grind a long time to get there which is fine with me. I think the main focus was armor making it meaningful again which I love. I think the bigger issue they need to address is why they haven’t updated the old armor drops. You can play the old “endgame” content and all weapons and armor drop from the old system which sucks
