My issue, and it is purely my opinion, is by nerfing our power level in every activity other than open world below the level of our enemies, Bungie has totally killed the power fantasy that made the game fun, and HAVING FUN IS WHY WE SHOULD PLAY VIDEO GAMES.
And before you counter with, 'You just don't like doing hard content," I would remind you that the casual players pay the bills here, and the majority of players are casuals who play a few hours a week to have fun.
I should add, I was never a casual player until Bungie rolled out episodes. I also covered Destiny as a journalist for mainstream media. I absolutely loved Destiny, and I poured my gaming heart and soul into Destiny from day one of D1 alpha.
Before I say "Thank you" and "Goodbye," I do have a solution. Include two levels of difficulty for endgame activities; capped and uncapped. Then everyone can have fun, no matter if they want a hard mode, or to just run in, smoke some enemies, and have a blast. Loot would be the same for both difficulties, but the harder mode loot would have additional perks, as in adept Nightfall.
Of course, this would take a lot more work from Bungie than simply capping our power so it will never happen. If, by some miracle, it happens in the future, I will return to play more often.
To everyone I every had the pleasure of playing with, thank you. To every Destiny player, pay the love forward, and always BE KIND.

2 RisposteI'm the same. I simply cannot be bothered anymore. Logged in last night and after yet another gay relationship cutscene I found that the exotic mission is step 1 of 22 in Act III, I just turned the game off. I guess people ignoring Dual Destiny meant Bungie decided that this time that you either play our new mission, which will be the same bullet sponge boss fest with the usual mechanics, or you don't progress the season at all. Fair enough, there are other great games on my PS5 that don't make me feel like I am wasting my time. And the season, or episode, is terrible. It's the same type of cut and paste "activity" we have had in every other season where you have a wall of ads against you and you have to stand on a plate or throw an orb. The usual "Go here and get five of these, now go here, and now here, now go visit this person, now go visit them again for some reason because you couldn't do this on the first visit". The so called story is just a counselling session for two gay men and the dialogue is beyond terrible. The content time gating is ridiculous, and time gating the season pass is beyond stupid. Bungie are creatively bankrupt, more interested in putting identity politics front and centre instead of telling a good story, and seem to actively dislike the majority of the dwindling playerbase they have left. The only genuine Destiny killer is Bungie. And they are doing a great job. Yellowgate, last active member of the Lone Wolves, signing off.

As Marty O'Donnell once said, and I'm paraphrasing here, "it was good that we got out of Microsoft, it was bad that we couldn't get Microsoft out of us." Essentially stating that the values they had before and during their stent with Microsoft faded as more and more "fixers" came into their studio and stayed after they left MS making the studio less and less of what made them great in the first place. Now we look at what it has become over the past 10+ years and it is evident in how they produce content for their consumers, not players.

Imagine grinding for best gear, doing your due dilligence, then you end up in missions where enemies are higher than your level no matter what. I guess some intern at Bungie thought this would be fun.
-
This is sad. I hope you come back and at least play pvp. Like im doing. Yeah im mid, but its fun on occasion. Even with my 1.5 kda i still get 10,15,20,25 k/d's from time to time

At least you got your money’s worth!

I'm not done with the game, but my time spent playing it has significantly decreased, and I stopped giving this developer money a couple of years back. The game has a lot of potential, but it literally has the wrong developer running it. Destiny One had its issues but it had a much better layout when it comes to how a game is designed, and the developer was at least consistent at that time with the direction the game was headed, and what type of game it was. Destiny 2 is all over the damn place with a lot of damn holes in it. It's a huge mess, with no consistency when it comes to designing a game. "Let's just throw this in there and see if it works, Oh, and don't bother with playtesting the content or bother playing the game to see how things actually work in the game. Just push the content out the door hoping it works. Yeah, the last part doesn't fly with me. That's some BS right there as a developer that expects its player base to pay them top dollar for their product.

4 RisposteModificato da draycole: 8/28/2024 3:58:08 AMYou sure its not because you've been playing what is essentially the same game for 10 years and 8500 hours? Because 8500 hours is equal to playing the game 24/7 for 1 year straight non stop. That's 40 hours a week 52 weeks a year for over 4 years. That's almost 2.5 hours per day every single day for 10 years straight.
-
6 RisposteYou are weird. Calling yourself a casual players with 8500 hours... that makes no sense. Either you patrol to much or lie. What ya doing in all this time? Quitting because of difficulty of the game and then want different modes for ENDGAME content? Bruh. I honestly can't follow your arguments, but i guess i don't care either.

“Basically done”. Played yesterday..

You’re basically done with destiny because it’s over.
-
killed power fantasy? every dlc we get stronger and stronger lol, the problem with d2 is the ultra casual state thanks to crafting
-
2 RisposteWe taking bets when they come back?
-
2 RisposteGiven you’ve spent 10% of the last decade logged in, and proclaim to be a casual - I am terrified to ask… How many hours do the non-casuals put in?
-
2 RisposteBungie took those who claimed the game was "too easy" very personally for some reason and decided to go overboard. Not by making the content harder however, as one would expect, but by making it more time to complete. So now end-game players are left watching everyone else walk away from the game since it feels much less rewarding for their time, and some have followed their friends on. I don't personally think I will stop playing until the content dries up, but I probably will have much less time online than I used to. Maybe they will come to their senses but honestly I doubt it at this point.

1 RispondiGatekeeping the seasonal activity with an exotic mission made it easy for me to stop investing in the franchise.

Nice try diddy
-
Capping the power always confused me. What’s the point in getting max power if lots of activities will force you to play at a lower level. I get there will be people who want a challenge, and so yeah those two mode options would be a good fix.

I actually think me to….how wonderful.

For the first time i’m not disagreeing with a post like this… Sure I have been playing again since last week but barely played since launch of FS and have only touched one character in the last 4 months or so… I actually went back to CoD and other games, which never happened in the last 5+ years! It’s sad because I love Destiny but it’s getting easy not to play and after 6500+ hours that’s not what’s supposed to happen easily imo… I know it will happen when GTA6 comes out, but I also believe this game will be a wasteland before that…

1 RispondiModificato da Guardian6761: 8/27/2024 10:22:38 PMGood luck... It was Bungies privilege, a loyal customer who stayed loyal to the game, shame they lost sight of the great company that they once used to be... I miss that old school bungie... before the activists moved in and ruined the culture at the studio.. I still play halo 3 with IWHBYD activated now and again to remind me that THE ELITES actually swore , hurled expletives & insults at you for rewarding gameplay. That Old Bungie is a distant memory now. On the brightside... you have over 10 years of gaming to look back on... Heading to the past is the way forward... Good luck & 'It ain't over till the fat lady sings'

Regardless you sure got your money worth out of this game lol

3 RisposteI'm in a very similar boat as you, the only difference is that I set sail a couple months ago. At first I was upset, I liked the Destiny franchise a lot but now I've comfortably left Destiny behind and have been playing some great games.
And yes, I am here on Destiny Forums but mostly for Offtopic. I just like to lurk around and see the fire.
Agreed I've been recommending a "capped and uncapped" mode for years, for everything, heck add it as option to raids for newer players that gained power in patrol This was one of reasons I quit, no power fantasy, along with my vocal thoughts on moving away from solo players IMO, but yep

2 RisposteI’ve just watched a (Maven) vid on the new exotic quest at the start of Act 3…and I’m finding it hard to get enthused enough to even bother… It’s the same feeling I had when I took my T on campaign legend mode…it lasted all of five minutes before I bounced and switched to normal mode…and even then, I only took it so far and stopped. The same with my W. I did the 12-man mission, which was epic; but once I’d closed the 10-year compact, the silken cord that binds was well and truly severed. Now, I’m just marking time…to see what Sony does / doesn’t do. ITMT: WUKONG is a great place to chill out and have some fun! Warframe is another great place if you’re starting out - Excalibur + sword! 👈👈 Also, so many ‘Goodbye Destiny’ vids and threads / posts are cropping up! These are loyal and dedicated customers, walking away… AUSGANG 🤔 Ease Springs! 🫡
