After diving into other games recently finally...

I cannot even remotely justify the price tag to content ratio. Loved the game, but it feels so overwhelmed by greed, and fear-of-missing-out. Those are bad practices I will no longer feed, because let's be real; you'll grind days, weeks, and months for a weapon you'll use once and then vault. There comes a point where players need to ask if they're having fun or if they're only playing to feed a sick addiction and FOMO. The game started out with so much passion and soul and then greed settled in and corrupted players. This is no longer a game. It is a tool-perfected way to psychological manipulate your playerbase into feeding a cash cow. I might still enjoy Thundercrashing a few bosses and have enjoyed the game many years now, but every time I come back now? There's no fun side to feed. Only the bad stuff to feed. A point in which you realize that you've never actually turned the game on to have fun. You only turned it on because the game is playing you and on your need to go get that item before it's gone etc. If I'm to come back as a permanent almost-everyday player like I used to be. FOMO must absolutely be abolished even for aesthetics. Content needs to stop being vaulted all the time. Let us play every activity ever released especially considering the ones that were paid for. And lastly, slow down on the Eververse store; it would be much better suited if 90 percent of that stuff was unlocked via actual gameplay and challenges. It feels like 90 percent of all cosmetics and cool stuff requires you to rip out your wallet. If we swapped the pools of all Eververse gear with the "Gameplay" pool. This game would have a much higher attraction. Eververse feels like this looming empire of greed overshadowing the rest of the game.

  • Theres literally no reason to log in to Destiny unless there's some cosmetic for bright dust that I want. Buy it from orbit and immediately back to other games.

I feel you man😔 I also started to play other games because this game is no longer fun.I feel that the final shape will disappoint us and than we realize that we wasted 10 years of our lives for this.hey I have good games to recommend you and it’s deathloop and dishonored 1,2(there’s also dishonored death of an outsider but I don’t have it)and bioshock 1 and 2 and these games are a first person experience so you can’t have the same experience out of any other media.

      • Same, really started looking at prices for stuff in this game and it insane that some COSMETICS are the same price as a game. Even some of the challenge cards are $10 and it’s crazy that is even remotely ok imo

I've been there. Solution: take a 6-month break from the game, effective immediately. You can thank me later.

Its designed to be crap to encourage you to spend money to skip it. Destiny 2 has the potential to be so good, its just needs to lose Bungie.

I think I was about to stop last year. But I continued which was rewarding. But this year is different. I played less and less since months. I can't stand the time frames and iterations anymore. I did not even engage with the new exotic quests or the latest dungeon. Even if I bought Lightfall + Annual Pass (like always). I moved on to other games who give me something different. FUN. There are no obligations, restrictions or parameters. There is nothing intrusive! That's how a video game should be - not like a to-do list with the nature of a job. I still like Destiny 2. But I enjoy it for what it once was, not for what it is. I understand that the game is a business but it reached a level, an imbalance, which is more demotivating as motivating.

                    • Diablo 4 has a better transmog system, but the game bores me to death. I feel like D2 is actually fine for money to time play value. $10-12 for a season pass, if you actually level it to 100 you're getting rather good value for your time, most people spend $20 to go see an IMAX movie for 2 hours. It's ok to play other games, in general most video games give you fairly decent value return on time spent if you're looking at it from an entertainment perspective. Another key is if you enjoy the gameplay and mechanics, stop giving AF about FOMO and grinding it like it's a job, those are the two biggest things that will make you eventually hate a game. 99% of this game can be played and enjoyed w/o being a meta slave or even having an actual build. Now has Bungie completely tuned out and neglected their game and community, yes, so I don't want to seem like I'm defending bad behavior here, but I think you might just "enjoy" the other games you are playing more and need to take a break from Destiny for a bit. Every single game has "burnout" and FOMO if you play it like a job, even Diablo 4 had exclusive weapon skins they gave away only if you watched like 20 hours of twitch streams.

                      • It's perfectly acceptable to play other games while the Devs continue on the path of self-destruction. I was laughing to myself the other day. I spun up a 128v128 Conquest in BF2042. Took 48 seconds to find a match ( not in progress, a new one). Over in the world of Destiny a 6v6 match clocked in at 7 min queue time last time I played. What a difference.

PS extra is great value. If you are after content that more than favourably compares per hour on cost and massively outcompetes on content. Eg every ac game. Every far cry. Lots of indie stuff. Yakuza games. Story games like life is strange Etc etc. it’s never ending really. With that said d2 raids are a different thing of themselves that have a fair bit of replay value if you are going for titles etc.

                      • I don't disagree with your point. For me personally I still do turn it on to have fun, because I play with friends or on my own but I do the things I want to do, I even spend some days planet jumping on doing bounties. I don't chase things as its a game and nothing is needed, the worlds not going to stop spinning if you don't get reskined event weapon or seasonal exotic, the last raid or dungeon exotic I got was gjallarhorn and it's catalyst, nothing since then and what have I missed out on??? Nothing, not 1 thing. I've done the raids a few times, each raid/dungeon becoming less because my time line has changed and it's a game not a life commitment. Basically people need to forget about FOMO, before FOMO became a trend nobody cared if the items or not. The word FOMO has literally become a catalyst for people now. If you can still play the game and have fun then go for it, keep playing. If not move on to something else or just take a break

                        • Tbh to me there are very few games with similar value propositions to Destiny. This year pay $100 for around 200-300 hours of playtime over a year (and that’s on the low end for me). >$1 per hour. That’s money well spent in my opinion. The only other games of recent that I felt that way about have been Diablo and Monster Hunter. And for the next 2-3 weeks Diablo is going to be heavy in my rotation. It’s all about balance. I’d 100% buy a can of coke for $1, I spend less for more enjoyment playing Destiny. Just how I evaluate things.

I used to buy a couple of licenses on different platforms for each person in my family, so we could all play together depending on who wanted to play and what hardware each person had. But, now I can just buy one license for each person on that person’s preferred platform. So much cheaper. We don’t normally buy silver, so it’s just the annual expansion and the seasons. It’s cheaper than five trips to the movie theatre, and it helps keep us entertained for a year.

I've played for 9 years, heavily, I've never found anything to take me away. I moved to destiny from cod in 2014 & never looked back. Things are changing though..... Firstly Starfield looks to be what destiny promised, & without PvP, gambit & crossplay it's instantly ahead of destiny for me at the minute. Then yesterday Microsoft made Activision fix the servers for all the old call of dutys, games I've longed to go back to. Once they all hit gamepass I'm gone, regardless of how Starfield ends up. This season was the final straw for me, infact lightfall probably, clearly a filler money grab to give marathonn an extra year to cook, but this seadin is just awful. Deep dive is broken in so many ways & salvage is the most boring event we've ever had, the maps are full of holes, it's just miserable. The loot this year is reskin city & the vendor having 2 sets of reckoning guns with different names is just dirty. I've been that bored of pve, I've actually played iron banner this week, a lot, to get, then gild the seal, after years of not touching PvP n while it's been fun at times bcoz I have an incentive, the design is just -blam!-, very few maps, awful desync, awful team balancing, awful loot drops, yes no one enjoys playing 300 games & getting 400 Randy's throwing knifes. I didn't like halo, & I feel bungie have been getting away with it for years, destiny had promise but it's been wasted by greedy morons, & I feel they pulled their biggest con in managing to get bought by Sony. I'm playing until Starfield bcoz I've paid for the content but outside banner this week my playtime has dropped off a cliff & I'm already dreading going back to pve next week. Hoping gamepass adds the old cod's next week when the deals completed.
