Difficulty changes are bs… from a veteran player

Ive been playing destiny since D1 and I consider myself a decently hardcore-ish player. I’ve got about 100 raid clears and I do very well in my jobs in them once I learn them, and I’ve been a teaching sherpa plenty of times. I’m a conqueror and have farmed multiple gm’s. I’ve solo flawlessed dungeons and farmed master dungeons. Ive solo’d most or all (can’t remember exactly lol) of the exotic missions, including the whisper mission. I’m iron lord/glorious and a couple carries from flawless. Point is, me and my friends who are just as into this game as me are struggling to enjoy some of this new content, just for pinnacles!! The exotic mission is just insane levels of difficulty regardless of fireteam size. Did the weekly story mission on its highest difficulty yesterday and it took a fking HOUR to do, because we wiped at Calus so much from bs. Then you add just regular nightfalls on top of that that are damn near previous gm levels of difficulty (minus getting sent to orbit on wipe)! Not…fun…at…all. I can only imagine how newer or casual players feel right now. And the “git good” crowd can just buzz off. If you’re flying through all this stuff no problem, then you are a small minority of top skilled players and don’t relate. I’m not the top in anything, but I’m definitely well above the average player in most things and I’m struggling to enjoy this level of difficulty in everything… End of rant… 💀🍻 Edit: I guess this post was a waste of time, seeing as how right after, they announced the difficulty changes 😅. Don’t roast me too hard lol. Not like you can delete posts here. Also, this is just an opinion. If you have a different opinion, be an adult about it and make a sensible counter opinion. Debate it with reasoning. You’re wasting words if all you can say is “stop crying”. Nobody is crying. It’s just negative feedback… grow up.

    Yeah about that twab, they should have made entry level easier, vanguard ops and hero level. Those are supposed to be replayable, those are the playlist where you grind over and over again and those are the playlist that shouldn't make you feel like you're doing a chore. Master and above should have stayed as it is. Those are the places where hardcore players go to look for a challenge not vanguard ops or hero nightfalls while vanguard ops and hero nightfalls are places where newer players learn the ropes.

  • I spent more than an hour testing after today's hotfix. Bungie made good progress with the changes, but they have much more work to do. When I was on Neomuna I saw only level 6 players. I used to see mainly level 7 and 8 players prior to when I stopped playing a week ago. Lost sectors have improved, but overloads are still too strong, and lost sectors are not at the level of difficulty prior to Lightfall. In essence, there is insufficient change to influence a lot of gamers to return. I am leaving again until the next hotfix or update.

      "But Bungie said they are going to adjust things." Never mind this^ has literally happened way too many times. News flash! If they did their job right in the first place, there wouldn't need to be them wasting time and resources as they have been for 6 years now. it doesn't take brain surgery to know how to improve a players experience, and other developers have literally proven this. Case and point, Hollo Games proved it with No Man's Sky within a reasonable time, because someone actually cared enough to put the effort into the game to improve the game and the players experience. Still up until this day they have been updating the game and constantly moving it forward as all developers should be doing with their games. Tbh, this business over the last 6 years has gotten away with their cheap tactics way too many times. Stop buying into their nonsense, they knew exactly what they were doing making things more miserable for quite a few players. [b]They are a business first and foremost. The player base will always come last.[/b] This^ right here is what's wrong with the entire game.

        • Maybe because half of what you said was a lie, you have less than 90 raid clears, 57 coming from year 1 raids, 2 flawless exotic missions, and 1 solo flawless dungeon. You aren’t an end game player. You’re Just average player who got used to the game being very easy. My stats, raid report, Dungeon report, everything is better and I see my self as a regular player. Just get over yourself weirdo

          • I'm a 40-year-old dad of three kids, full-time job, and a mortgage. I play destiny as a hobby with some close friends and we believe destiny should be a bit more challenging. Besides the legendary exotic mission most content is really easy, in my opinion. With most builds you can actually over power alot of the content.

            • Your profile indicates that by no means you are a hardcore player, except if our definition of hardcore differs. Despite that, the difficulty would be fine if the rewards were adjusted accordingly.

                • Bungie should have just made a option to play nightmare mode. Where it is how bungie has it currently. Then elites can still have it how they like it and beginners can actually play and not quit the game over frustration

                • Funny how people are only replying in disagreement to show how "skilled" they are in a forum without any counter-arguments. In reality, OP is right. The content isn't necessarily too hard, it's just inconsistent in difficulty from activity to activity. It makes the game a little less fun. I think why people are reviewing the difficulty changes negatively is because there hasn't been time to adjust to it. We've been playing the same base game with minor tuning to difficulty here and there. When Bungie released this blanket change on fresh content (and returning content), guardians were not used to shooting red bars 5 seconds longer. The baseline from Witch Queen Legendary difficulty was in the same category. Just tuned from what we've been used to. Tuned well, but not a whole new difficulty "system". We have to remember that Bungie can only test content so long before they need real feedback from the masses. This post is that feedback. This post is a voice among thousands. They can't cater to everyone individually. There is no need to shite on my man's Destiny career because he doesn't enjoy the changes, even if our opinions differ. The real skill issue here is.... [spoiler]acceptance[/spoiler].

                • No point in roasting you. The fact that Bungie is making these changes, and telegraphing them well in advance? Means they heard the intensity of the negative feedback from the non-streamer playerbase loud-and-clear. Fortunately, this screw up will be an easier walk back than vanilla D2 was. It took them 3 years to fix the disastrous design decisions they made in building the game. This was just one of the last factions that weren’t quite unified behind the vision laid down going into [i]Shadowkeep[/i] getting control of the game…and once again having their hand smacked by the player base. No, we don’t want to play your vision of the game. We want to the power-fantasy…and that fantasy gets strangled when weapons hit like pea shooters….and players are getting one-and-two shot by anything more powerful than trash mobs. Destiny isn’t Dark Souls….and that kind of difficulty isn’t the core experience that made this game successful. Bungie seems to keep forgetting this, and have to keep being reminded of why we play this game at regular intervals.

                  • idk i can have 6 ice turrets up at once, we have total build freedom now, the hp and dmg is the only reason enemies even stand a chance imo, i find it for fun to notice a difference in activities that i can't go into a master nf and just run into 15 guys 0 fks given and start setting up ice turrets i get deleted now that's good, just running into a pile of people in master isn't smart and i should be punished for it. Basically the way i play during normal modes and hard modes is actually different now.

                      • I think the difficulty increase is because they scale to higher build capabilities combined with people who are able to cheese the game like putting all your points into resilience. A few people are able to do this and they don’t want all their prisms and exotics easily gotten. Do the casuals have to suffer for these people’s actions.

                          It is mind boggling how unskilled people are that claim to be veteran players. I think the game was so easy that it almost removed skill from people. Because this is barely a challenge on master content. I have not failed a single master lost sector or dungeon. Legendary battleground is a joke. And they just lowered HP yesterday to appease casuals complaining. Seriously, if you find Destiny too hard, go play super Mario. I cannot believe we are appeasing the lowest common denominator of people. They finally added challenge, and they go back on it because people don’t understand that challenges are supposed to feel rewarding at the end. You aren’t supposed to be able to slam your face down on your controller and that be enough. This game is STILL easy. If you want to get better, look up guides on builds and choose the correct weapons. Or better yet, do exactly like most MMO’s, go farm a good exotic. I really don’t know what I’m missing. OP, are you missing thumbs? That would explain a lot.

                            They didn't "nerf" difficulty, they reduced enemy health, and not even by a noticeable amount. That means nothing when snipers can still one shot in legend difficulty without even needing the threat bonus to their damage. I solo'd multiple different GMs in the past, including some of the hardest ones, only missing Lightblade, and I'm getting very annoyed with the lazy and cheap instant deaths. They need to just completely revert these changes, because this isn't "difficult", it is stupid. Enemies hit so damn hard and for some stupid reason even the infantry mobs can have elite weapons. This needs to change because those explosive weapons do more damage even when they don't fully hit than the normal enemy weapons do, only excluding snipers. "Lets make it impossible to heal!" in a game that isn't like WoW where you get the health to be able to tank the hits is unfair. Idc who says to get good because you can't get much better than soloing GMs almost consistently in less than 30 minutes. Either we need a 7th stat for bonus health, or they need to get rid of power deficits entirely AND lower legend requirements way down. GMs in previous seasons were not even this hard. One more thing I want to add to this: I think modifiers in general are making the game worse. They need to just make enemies how they were in D1 and maybe only add a few modifiers that can add extra special enemies (NOT champions) to make the game harder. All of these stupid damage modifiers are too much to keep track of and make you into a glass cannon, while taking the cannon part away when we do no damage outside of our abilities and heavy weapons. Hero nightfalls used to only have champions, a burn, and a bonus damage to what the boss's special ability did. Now they have *nine* modifiers. That is three times more than what they used to have. I know that 3 of them are benefits, but the issue is that activity damage modifiers shouldn't exist in the first place.

                          • i agree, why play and level if you are just forever delta'd regardless of level. it used to be a perk of playing to eventually claw your way out of the delta. the builds have been severly reduced in complexity, i used to love mixing the warmind cells with orbs, shards and wells of light builds. this game is really boring right now, maybe it is a good season to take a vacation from this delta, artificial difficulty insult.

                            • All these crybabies need to go back to Farmville or Minecraft. Nothing in this game is even hard hard save for the exception of the new Legend Exotic Mission, Master Lost Sectors, and Legend/Master nightfalls.. If you think Neomuna patrol is "difficult content," probably just shut the -blam!- up and practice/get better or uninstall cause it's 110% a skill issue.
