Destiny is a LIVE SERVICE. Which means that you are paying for constant access to a SERVICE that is maintained throughout the year.
At $40, just the cost of an expansion, you are paying $3.30 a month to access the game. Which means you get ACCESS to the content, that is actively maintained for a month, for $3.30.
At $80, for the "deluxe" edition. you are paying $6.60 a month for the same thing PLUS seasonal content.
At $100, for the "uber-deluxe" edition, you are paying $8.30/month, for all of that PLUS, some extra goodies.
No one is ripping you off. No one is "pay walling" the game. No one is cheating you. Even if you buy the most expensive offering, IT COSTS LESS THAN JUST ABOUT EVERY OTHER SERVICE.
How many hours you play in a month? Me? I play about 14 hours a week, roughly a couple of hours before bed most days. That's about 56 hours a month.
So, if I buy the uber deluxe edition the game is costing me...
FOURTEEN CENTS AN HOUR.
An hour of entertainment, for less than a quarter.
Is the game perfect? Nope, tons of issues that need to be looked at. But a rip off? A scam?
Um, no. I challenge ANYONE to find something equivalent that costs what Destiny costs.
Sheesh...

3 RisposteModificato da Lunchy_Munchy: 10/21/2021 10:35:42 AMIt doesn't cost you fourteen cents an hour. Did you factor in the cost of your system that you play it on, the internet you pay for that it requires and the electricity for all the appliances that you play on ?? .. Nope. So go away and recalculate that. The add in the time you play and then the time you spend repeating things. Then deduct that and you have the time you spend actually playing a game. The rest is grinding. Destiny is a grind. That's it. With RNG loot that works against you and a progression system that does the same. Pinnacle drops are loaded to drop in the highest slots meaning you have to grind some more to get what you want. And then some more. And those activities are bland, forgettable and pointless after a short while. Bungie calls this a Season Pass. Until, like they did with Legendary Astral, they import the restrictive factors like Champions that dictate what weapons you have to use from things like Nightfall's and then remove the matchmaking making them while adding, wait for it, a third chest that they claims drops high stat armour but actually doesn't. I got the same 54 Pathfinder Helm I could have got from regular Astral. Whoopee Doo. And that's before we get to them removing content and replacing it with yet more Eververse tat instead of fixing things like PVP which runs on a prehistoric P2P system and has had massive lag from Cross Play since it launched. And we need Cross Play because each platforms community is shrinking. Strikes are dull and repetitive because no one wants two 1320 blues as a reward when they are 1330. What they want is strike scoring, strike specific loot and more strikes. Gambit is a mess full of catch up mechanics that give teams who would struggle to hit the floor if they threw themselves at it a chance at victory. And that's without the ultimate Bungie smelling its own farts moment .. Trials. An utter disaster and about as much fun, unless you're a sweat, as toothache. An activity where Bungie designed a system to feed casuals to their beloved streamers and content creators to feed their ego's after the mode was deserted by everyone with a modicum of self respect. You crow on about naming games that are better value ?? .. I can think of many, live service and otherwise that are more worth of time than this overpriced shopfront that gets all the effort behind which is hiding a bland grind that gets the minimum of attention in its core activities and which seems intent on treating its players like a cash pinyata. They are literally charging people for a "celebration", a celebration headlined by a weapon they are selling to us for the THIRD TIME. Seriously, defend that.

Gather round everyone for your entertainment we have a bungie apologist spouting justifications. What doesn’t make sense to me is you clearly care about destiny to an unhealthy extent judging by your rushing to white knight without being asked. Although your display of first grade math skills was super impressive and totally didn’t make you look like a sperg. Back to my point, failure to call out something or someone you care about when they make a mistake contributes to their decline. I’m sure you will continue paying any amount for a declining product but a lot of people won’t. Reduction in player base is already affecting match making and reducing the qualities of the product you are infatuated with to an unhealthy extent. Maybe instead of reeing the second you hear someone critique a PRODUCT your creepily obsessed with you should try indulging the concerns of others. I know with math skills like yours it’s hard to believe others might be right but I would recommend giving them a chance. Also it’s a game, your acting weird.

8 RisposteThe Dungeon news is terrible. I wondered how long before the mental gymnastics started to justify this maasive rip off of a business model. Remember the days that people thought Activision was the problem? Activision NEVER ripped us off so badly.

Stop paying for the game and quit then. Bye.

I think he’s saying destiny is a live service

I hope they put the most op meta guns in the dungeons

25 RisposteGoing by your logic? Bungie can give you a pile of horse manure, and because you can for some weird reason find hours of enjoyment out of it, you think it's worth the price. News flash, what you find worth the price will not ever apply to everyone. Quality over quantity And D2 base game is a prime example of content that wasn't even close to being worth its price.

1 RispondiModificato da Umadfalala: 10/21/2021 6:59:32 PMOk but how much are they paying you to make this post. And when you service them do you fondle the traveller's too? Or just give a little tickle?

28 RisposteIf you buy your car… should the car company continue to receive money from you since you keep driving it? We pay the margins to access the content. “Live service” is paying to have a service that continuously offers, in some way, live support for an item of value. Your insurance is a live service. This does not come with content… it comes with always being there for you when in need. You are highly mistaking gaming with arcade machines where we paid to continue to play. This is not a live service AND we pay to continue to play. We lose access to what we paid to play. This is not a live service. We have to know why there is a free to access point in this game. This is because they projected profit was met and the content is dated.. BUT the reason it exists is due to laws passed about micro transactions and loot boxes. They needed to add in a free access point due to going with the seasonal approach and to maintain the store front via different laws passed due to the predatory nature. This is not a “live service” scenario. We pay to access the content. Bungie is just saying we should get more money for every aspect. To increase profit. What is the line in the sand? Raids? More vault space? End game content? This is capitalization.. not a “live service” This is fine. Bungie, as a business, can do anything they want. The outcry comes from two plus years of neglected content, hacks, mods, removal of access to content AND the love for this game as this will not lead to success but failure. There is no justifying the approach. There is blindly saying reasons vs what will be excepted by the masses vs reality. Bungie, as a business, is just seeing how much money they can make and what the base will put up with. They do not care about this game they care about the formula of what they refer to as a “live service” game. This concept is worth billions and money does not care about anything but more money. My point… stop giving money the reason to keep charging us other than a great product.

Weapons, armor, raids, ornaments, campaign missions, all 31 pvp maps, every strike etc. I preordered Vanilla D2 Deluxe edition: $100 Prordered Forsaken Deluxe edition: $70 Preordered Shadowkeep Digital Deluxe: $70 Preordered Witch Queen Deluxe with Anniversary: $100 EDIT:What other console game ever costed $340?

11 RisposteSo fed up of all this "you pay xx monthly" . YOU DONT. Such an option doesn't exist, so you buy the game, buy the dlc, buy the season pass, buy the overpriced MT'S and then you still have to buy the dungeons. It's nothing but greed.

23 RisposteModificato da conkus805: 10/20/2021 7:48:54 PMsuch a dream to pay 14 cents an hour for the same, rehashed content season after season. I can buy a mtn bike for 3k$ and ride it the rest of my life without having to pay for access to trails, air for my tires, etc. destiny is a disservice to the players. plus, your playing the same thing over and over for 56 hours a month for an arbitrary number to unlock access to higher number activities. maybe the smooth brains like playing the same, repetitive content, over and over and think it's a deal. hey, I have some oceanfront property to sell you in Nebraska if you're interested.

This is facts. And everyone complaining is on the destiny forums…. If it’s so bad to play another game :)

Now im kinda curious how much does a server usually cost to keep updated and the maintenance?

Except their service is based on a Tiger engine that needed ditched years ago, P2P connectivity and the service has been a copy paste seasonal model that is so predictable you even know what ranks to expect the rewards to be in. Not to mention how glitchy the game is getting and how much slips right on by their quality assurance. They don't invest enough back into the game and people know it, and that's why they're really so up in arms about the whole thing. I can sit on a cactus for $0.14 cents an hour, that doesn't make it money well spent. It just makes it cheap.

i wonder how many people dont know the difference between a strike and a dungeon

Modificato da Wanderer: 10/22/2021 12:52:14 AMElder Scrolls online gives me more for less. And I know where the money goes because every NPC is fully voice acted and the game environment itself is obscenely massive. I'm pretty confident that ESO's largest zone, cyrodiil, is bigger than all of Destiny 2's existing "universe" combined.
