Spoiler talk ahead. Please go watch the episode if you aren’t interested in having the episode spoiled.
The second season of The Mandolrian has begun, and with it the first episode.
The opening really stood out to me, not only does it show how ruthless the Galaxy of StarWars can be, but it shows just how deadly Mando can also be. It’s a strong opening that recaps what exactly Mando is trying to and his main objective, but also what he is willing to do to make it happen.
Also I love that Baby Yoda is much more expressive and vocal throughout the episode.
Anyways after the opening scene we are in Tatooine, and Mando searches for another Mandolorian in Tatooine which we can only assume is Boba Fett. When he got to the saloon in the mining town and we see the Marshall I knew immediately that wasn’t really Boba Fett, and the at we probably weren’t going to see him this episode, and with the ending I’m not even sure we’ll see him this season. Anyways shenanigans beget shenanigans and we get to Mando talking with Tusken Raiders, which imo other than the fact we got to see a friggin’ Krayt Dragon, getting nearly an entire episode where we get to see Tusken Raider culture was very enlightening.
I thought the sequences were great, as well as all of the amazing special FX and the grand action scenes. Overall great episode, and a great way to begin the series. And if they keep the episodes 50 minutes in length that would be incredible, I feel that time constraints last season always made the episodes feel lacking. With the new 50 minute episodes they are able to fit more story and action into one season, which is great.
Where Mando and Baby Yoda go from here on is left a bit open, so we’ll just have to see what Disney does. Anyways those our my thoughts on the episode.

2 RisposteAll the Easter eggs were great! I did not expect a Krayat Dragon either, and I am glad to see some world building with the Tuskans.

2 RisposteI liked the 50 minutes... that was a nice surprise...

Boba Fett was at the end! I immediately recognized him because he looked like Jango!

10 RispostePersonally I think the Krayt Dragon was actually a Greater Krayt, since it swam in sand. And burst out the top of a goddamn mountain, like holy shit that's a big Lesser Krayt if so. Also, the SIZE of that pearl! That thing must have been positively ANCIENT. I'd like to know just how old it is, but I doubt such a minute detail was given much thought.

Let’s see how bad Corporate Culture -blam!-ed that up before I dive in head first. Edit** WHY DOESN’T IT HAVE LIPS? WHAT THE -blam!- MAN?

I figure if we get to see and kill a Krayt Dragon in episode one then the season is either going to be really good or all downhill from here. Most likely it’ll be the former.
Sorry, all out of salt.
It was a bummer last season to see him take out those bounty hunters one by one after they betrayed him, only to find out later that he spared them. I agree 50 mins is way better. This was my favorite episode yet. Jet packs, Tatooine, Krayt Dragon, and....... Boba.
