You guys know D1 has had lower numbers than this before right?
I know I'll get downvoted for saying that. But the numbers are available

Pay attention to the graph and dates
Another chart from destiny tracker
Pvp numbers under 250k a month after age of triumph released.
And under 500k during the age of triumphs release

Pve numbers are also kinda where they are now

So...since D1 had lower numbers....there is no reason to be concerned? Let's also factor in that the 250k a month after AoT release was the end of it's life cycle. So you are comparing the end of the a game...that was clearly dead....to a game that's supposed to be in it's prime in Y2.... We won't even talk about how there is 3 platforms now either....
-
Modificato da draycole: 2/22/2019 6:17:27 AMFor the 250k yes. The first chart has numbers under 500k well before "the end of the game" And I highly doubt pc is contributing some. Massive amount of players And don't forget D1 technically launched on 4 consoles
-
Wow...as for your edit.... 4 consoles....same platforms. Xbox 360 and PS3 allowed the player to move to each respective system without creating new accounts. Meaning that it did NOT skew the numbers whatsoever. Damn, I expect those kinda edits from Sols....not you.
-
So, "end of the game", was literally the end of the game....as in confirmed moving on from D1. End of the game's life cycle and you think comparing it to that, makes this look normal? And as far as PC...even 50k can skew numbers...
-
But I provided more than 1 figure showing numbers below OPs cause for alarm bar of under 500k 250 is the lowest it got.
-
I understand that, and all I'm pointing out is what you pointed out.... You pointed out that 250k.... That 250k was the end of the game itself. So for someone who is claiming this is normal.... It's normal to have numbers of a dead game? I mean that's exactly what it was then. A dead game. I'm sure you understand the situation here. We...you and I...are discussing the 250k mark that you are holding on to, saying that D1 had lower numbers...so no worries people.

That graph isn’t great. There is years of important contextual data before and after the dates shown. You don’t get to see the heights of Destiny or CoO and beyond in D2.
-
What contextual information is needed that's not present?
-
All the data from before in Destiny, all the data for Forsaken forward in D2. You know the full picture if you’re going to compare numbers like that graph is the whole picture.
-
The entire log of player numbers for destiny isn't necessary for my point to be made. It'd be nice to know. But it doesn't take away from my contrast that D2 isn't some dead game when D1 which experienced similar numbers wasn't a dead game
-
It is though, if you don’t have it all, then trying to make that point is impossible. Saying “I have a graph that doesn’t have all the data just the data that supports my point” is meaningless. There have been highs and lows. The highs before the graph are higher and lows now are as low as they were on the graph.
-
But the argument I'm making is one that only addresses one part of the entirety of the data. I'm not denying D1 had higher highs than D2. What my point is making contrast to is that D2s numbers aren't any worse than anything we've seen before, in a game 90% of the forums think is the better of the 2 and many of those same people would agree that D1 at its worse was no a dead game. Comparatively, neither should d2 be considered one. And the cause for alarm OP is presenting, seems to be more associated with the current views on the forums. And not necessarily what actual numbers are
-
When games are as a service and live services for that game....cease to exist...it's considered a dead game. As I've said plenty of times. Bo2 servers are still up with 20k playing. By your interpretation of dead game...Bo2 is doing just fine. I hate using dead game....dying game...casual....hardcore...but what else is there to use? What other term would have the meaning? Unhealthy? The game isn't in a good state? That's been said multiple times too....but those aren't any true than saying it's a dead game. The people still playing D2 daily think the game is perfect, and love it. They think it's healthy, and in the best state it's ever been. So what term is okay to use? Genuine question...
-
All those words or terms are meaningless to unless there's a metric to measure them by. If D1 is the only thing comparable, then yes D2 is the worst and has horrible player numbers But that seems, to me at least, a disengenous label to give D2
-
I agree, and respect that. D2 is a good standalone game. I've been looking at D2 this whole time as a new game. Not a sequel. I believe that to be Bungie's intent, as well. That being said, the D1 players, like myself, will always compare D1 and D2. It's the only game you can compare it to. For players new to the franchise, the game is prolly amazing. For old/returning players from D1, they see it as normal dry spells that was apart of D1's lifespan. Neither of these are a wrong, or right way to view it. Arguing preference is like arguing faith. Yes, plenty of people use these numbers in a negative light. I see it only as a sign of failure. To fail, you must first try. And for that, I respect Bungie. I lose respect for them tho, because of their arrogance. They can easily apologize. They are to proud, even in D1...they deflected their "hiccups" and made jokes about them ( See FoL and jumping off the tower with Atheon mask ). You've been here long enough. You know what it was like during D1's lifespan. It isn't the 1st, 2nd....or even 3rd time they shit on their player base. "Oops", "You caught us", "We're listening", these phrases have been spoken from Bungie. Not a single "We're sorry". They don't owe us an apology tho right? I get it, they don't...and in return the Player Base said...cool...cya. Those who choose to stick around, so be it. I may see ya from time to time. Those that move on, so be it. Not a single person is an idiot, for making either decision. However, if you choose to stay and you ignore the truth, turn the cheek, choose ignorance...that could definitely fall into the idiot category. Granted it's a fine line with many people here, but why does everyone seek validation to whether they stay or leave? It's a ridiculous and tiring argument, that shouldn't even be an argument. I understand I got off topic, but it all circles back around to why the Player Base is shrinking. Maybe it didn't grow all that large with D2 in the 1st place. Maybe, just maybe 80% of D2 population was returning D1 players that are fed up and you see that decline in numbers. What you see now, are new players to D2, and die hard players that will/do only play D2. Again, just because they do, doesn't make them right, nor wrong.
-
I didn’t see it as alarm. It’s like when I present data. I’m not saying the game is dead or dying. I’m saying it’s not healthy. That’s a concern for me as a fan. There are warning signs for the health of the game and to ignore or deny them while Bungie exhibits hubris and distain for its players sucks to see as a fan.
-
Look at that spike when new content dropped. That is no longer happening with D2
-
Yeah it is. When forsaken hit population hit almost 3 million
-
Yeah it is. When forsaken hit population hit almost 3 million
that was the last piece of good content. How convenient that you dont include what happened with the season pass?

Modificato da draycole: 2/22/2019 5:07:09 AMAccording to TattooedOni Player numbers were around 1 million when black armory came out https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/250114046?sort=0&page=0&path=1

All I know is it’s hard to solo queue into a team that doesn’t drop hot or if they do can actually slay out enough that we don’t get wiped in 2 minutes ya know?
