Why do most of the challenges that say they give you power gear, don't. Since forsaken come out I have been trying to get my light level up, like all of us. But most of the challenges I have been completing have only given me stuff that are the same light level as I already have. It does make most of it a waste of time, spending all that time doing a challenge for nothing. I hope this is fix and you always get power gear that is higher then what you already have.
-
Your "challenges" drop 1 above your current whole light level. Harder activities like dreaming city, nightfall, raid Drop 5 above or higher than your current max until about 540 Then dreaming city and raid until about 560 Then raid Then later stage raid and shattered throne dungeon

2 RisposteAll your gear at 530 besides one which is 525 or something but your avg level is 529 and powerful depending on activity will drop one or five levels higher if it's one the only way it will boost you is the 525 item everything else is will be the same 530 gear you have.
-
4 RisposteI don't understand. EVERY powerful gear activity has given me a higher item. From +1-5. Whatever your max level is, it will be +1 or more over that. Doesn't matter if you have a really high piece of gear, it's the max you can be with all your high pieces. The system works fine.
-
2 RisposteThe term powerful is relative to your overall score as shown in the top right of the character screen. Dailies will only drop on point higher then your average score. so ig you have most gear at 525, and one item at say 530, the item you get as a "powerful" wil drop at about 526 or 527. decent bump for most equipment slots, but you might be SOL if it drops for the slot that already has the 530 item.
-
3 RisposteI know it shouldn't be easy to level up, but they should at least make sure whatever you are giving is at least one light level higher then what you have, or it makes it a waste of time
-
3 Rispostei have the same problem , stuck at 522 , powerful engrams drop lower than my already obtained items now, cant even play nightfall or work towards it
-
1 RispondiThey're not designed to always be higher than the specific slot they drop for. They're designed to drop higher than your overall power. Also, we're not supposed to all be 600 already. The grind is meant to last over time, which means you're not going to level up +10 or even +5 every week. Certainly not if you do it inefficiently or avoid some of the powerful engram rewarding activities.
-
1 RispondiArmor works for me but weapons are always lower
-
3 RisposteBasically just to add some more rng and to trick you into thinking the activity you are doing has meaning or a meaningful reward. Also to artificially increase your time invested.
-
It goes by overall light not individual slots.
-
2 RisposteIdk I am a 515 and was getting 520 drops last night from rewards. But it is a slow process for sure. I tend to just keep my highest level gear on no matter what it is until I can hit the level I am looking for. I know that kind of suks but.

1 RispondiMost milestones only give you gear that’s one Power Level higher than your overall level once you pass 540. However, endgame activities like the Nightfall, Raid, and for some reason Prime Engrams all give gear more than one higher than your max Power Level, past the 540 mark.
-
7 RisposteWhy does everyone feel entitled to everything they want? You think Bungie will just give you everything right away just so you end up quitting the game in a few months because you got nothing to chase after? The DLC just came out and everyone is complaining because they don’t have all the new exotics and 600 light gear... bunch of entitled idiots
-
1 RispondiYou don't know it's based on your overall power level and not on that particular slot? I keep seeing posts like this but me and my whole clan has had no issues.

Generic content to keep you playing.

It’s not intended to drop gear higher than your current gear, it’s intended to drop gear that is higher than your average light level. You’ll need to get lucky and get something that drops to replace your lowest piece of gear.

Powerful gear only goes so high, or adds just 1 if you are high enough
