I've seen a lot of people voice their distaste about the recent sandbox changes, and I'd like to give them some form of advice and hopefully better them when it comes to dealing with shotgun users in the crucible
First: NEVER use a loadout purely for CQC
Having something to help with enemies up in your face is fine, but running something like an smg and a hand cannon is not going to make dealing with SG users any easier. pick a mid/long range weapon you're most comfortable with. That way SG users have been robbed of the one thing they need. Range. Me, I use Machina Dei 4 with dual kinetic counterbalance mods. It's a FANTASTIC pulse rifle once you soften it's kick. (This bit of advice isn't really for PC players on account of they have no recoil whatsoever so just skim this part ok guys? You don't need stability mods)
So, once you have a good ranged weapon you're comfortable with, time for the second bit of advice: Always have situational awareness.
This is something most people don't really seem to keep track of. Always make sure to keep a good eye on the radar, and be sure to follow this VERY important rule: If you see red, get some distance. I cannot stress this enough. Your ranged weapon won't be of any good use if it isn't given the range needed. Most SG users will also try to bait you around corners. I know the bait looks tasty, little fish, but think of the hook. If this helps, stick to open ground, These creatures thrive in enclosed areas, it's where they hunt, mate and breed more SG users.
That's the two most important peices of advice I can give to you. Get a ranged weapon, and give it the range needed to put that boomsticking bastard down. Now all that's left is for you to rely on your trigger finger. Remember, Don't give them an inch, or they'll take a mile.
Good luck out there guardians.

I've just accepted that to beat a shotgun ape, you have to be a shotgun silverback and show em who's boss.

Shotgun users have never been a problem. It’s bad play by the people getting killed over and over. It’s pretty simple and should be common sense how to counter shotguns. People just like to blame their bad play on weapon types.

Or you know.......bows

5 RisposteTelesto. Lots of hatemail from shotty kids that think they're good :) I love it.
-
What works for me: Crimson, throwing knife. Most shotgun users are bad and run at me in a straight line 😂
-
Suros NM Shotty Rockets. Can't really go wrong.
plus I'm a dirty shoulder charging Titan. With Skullfort. Not sorry for not being sorry
1 Rispondididn't read all your post but just use telesto lol

12 RisposteModificato da eaglex72: 9/4/2018 1:19:36 AMThe game is trash. The developers are trash. This latest debacle is just another in a long line of debacles since Destiny 1 released 4 years ago. Shotguns... a one-hit-kill weapon with guaranteed ammo at spawn... Because ANYONE asked for that? We ask for balance and fun amd we get more unbalanced trash. We ask for SBMM to return. We get worse unbalanced matchmaking than before the update. We ask for solo ques, we get thrown into lopsided loses half way through the match with NO way of leaving the match without closing the entire game and restarting it... then relaunching the game, waiting for matchmaking, and only to be thrown right back onto another losing side of a clan stomp.

2 RisposteI love the fact that you describe them like parasites. 😂
-
what about:- GET TO THE CHOPPA?
-
1 RispondiSmgs and sub class trees that buff your melee are your friends when dealing with shotguns.
-
Problem is, when you're the only person in the match not running 2 shotguns, you'll get lonely sitting by yourself in the open area while everyone else is in the narrow halls oneshotting eachother -_- I mean maybe it's just me but besides myself every crucible match I do is 100% shotguns.

2 RisposteOne thing you missed is that fusion rifles are a direct, tried and true counter. A simple 660 charge fusion can take out shotguns like second nature. Then if you are more skilled with fusions you can take them at longer range using harder hitting slower fusions and kill anything that comes at you instead of just shottys. And if you don't want to use a Fusion and it's a closer range map or you don't have any good spots then just know the angles they can come in at. I keep an smg and if I know a shotgun is coming I get next to the door, smg in hand, jump, unload, and punch. Burst damage is your best asset.
-
Telesto and Nightshade is pretty reliable combo. Don't get into CQC and have people come to you and just spray Telesto at them from absurd ranges.
-
A solid sidearm (Semi or burst) works wonders. My Enigmas Draw has tasted the Light of many a Shotgun rushing Guardian. But, like you said, gotta give yourself the distance. Doesn't always have to be a lot, but some is better than none.

7 RisposteI honestly think, Bungie works backwards, since we are back to talking about countering SGs again ;D I simple use FR types as special weapon, and go with the PR for primary. Telesto is cool beacuse of its special perk but any decent FR will counter SG, given that you are aware of your surroundings. I do not quite get the range comment of OP, because All of these maps (unless I have missed a comment from a developer about it) were designed for 4v4 and now we are back to 6v6. Almost all maps are so small that it is so easy get SG on your face, but hey cmon now, I got no issues if a shotgunner made it to my face without me realizing. It is, honestly, frustrating to face shotgunner teams that focuses heavily on aggressive play with 2 or more of their team mates backing them up with mid-long range weapons. But, it is what it is. In my opinion, it should get better if Bungie started making bigger maps which is gonna happen with D5 ahhaah
-
2 RisposteThey better learn no way in hell we about to nerf some more shit dlc not even out yet with random rolls. These noobs gotta understand when random rolls come tomorrow gonna see more than shotguns. They already seeing how destiny players get down but we not even at 100% yet guarantee tomorrow we will.😅

I've been running the crimson and a trials scout rifle I got from a clan package, and while I've gotten slug rounds in the face plenty of times, it's been serving me well, I've even killed a few strikers and stormcallers with the loadout too
-
Modificato da cult: 9/4/2018 1:54:05 PMIf you're a hunter just use high jump with stompees to bait them, easy wins
-
I didn't read the entire thing but if you are sleeping on smg you are missing out. Corner camping shotgunners are gonna get thier kills but in actual combat shotgun rushers can get close enough for them to kill you if you are running an smg. Ikelos smg is great for this.
-
Hand cannon shotgun combo is for 40+ kills in every game combo @_@
-
In other words, whip out Telesto! Enough said!

1 RispondiSound advice but the current maps just aren’t suitable in his new sandbox. They spawn you around enemies so much now on top of the narrow path campers with shotguns and the distance campers with snipers. You’re pretty much damned if you do or don’t do anything except go with the strongest loadout possible, a shotgun. Crazy how much better I do when I equip one vs when I use my regular loadout. Shotgunners can get up on you fast or use just enough range to one shot you too. We had this problem in d1 before they nerfed the range and spread of shotguns and slowed guardians down who had a shotgun. I see the same thing happening again, it’s inevitable.

1 RispondiA fusion rifle with the back up plan perk is my go to shotgunner stopper. Wizened rebuke
