Group wants to remove Sam Houston statues
Ok this is the first time I'm doing a post like this so here goes

Read the article then read my response. This group is actually dumb. Erasing history doesn't change it. The best thing anybody can do is to remember and learn from history to repeat it. Obviously this group requesting the removal of the Sam Houston statues knows nothing about Texan history. They say Sam Houston was a proslavery leader when he was not at all. He fought against secession from the Union and lost government over Texas because of it. Texas probably would still be part of Mexico without Sam Houston. It's absolutely atrocious what these left wing groups can do despite obviously not understanding a single thing about what they are fighting against. Now I'm a Texan myself and despite agreeing with the Union cause I always have had sympathy for the Confederate cause because of the demonization and misunderstanding of that group. I can't believe that anyone would want to destroy one of Texas' greatest heroes. I may get a lot of backlash for this but I don't care. You can insult me but you don't insult God, America (specifically the military and flag) and you [b][u]really[/u][/b] don't insult Texas. Ok that's my long 2 cents now let the liberals come in and try and break my arguments. I'm ready

4 RisposteThese people are stupid. There is a big difference in a monument dedicated to a general that fought for slavery and someone who fought against slavery but owned slaves. By that logic, the Washington Monument should be taken down because Washington had slaves. Stupid.

Hopefully it won't, but you can see the stupid even in some responses to anything about Texas or the South, so it might. Redneck traitors. Stupid rednecks. That is not only a form of hate, but another form of stupidity. I am a Texan as well. I am proud of our history, good and bad, because it shaped us into being who we are as a people today. Sam Houston was not a villian, these people are uneducated. Who ever it was that passed them in History class, that person is a villian. Then again, maybe they do know, but don't care. Maybe they just want to watch the world self-destruct. There are people like that, just starting shit to start shit. All it takes for evil to prevail, is for good men to do nothing. An evil man intentionally doing evil, can not do half as much damage as a good man blindly believing he is doing good.

14 RisposteYou can appreciate the history by putting the statues in a museum and giving them some context. If your displaying them in public for the purpose of veneration then their purpose is still propaganda, not historical education.
