I was never unhappy with how it worked before reforging, it was actually a ton better.
It gave some excitement to a drop. Now, I really just needed 1 sniper rifle to drop and 1 rocket launcher, and then any other drops were merely weapon parts for my reforging.
Obviously over infinite time, chances are people will have the best stuff, and things would be similar. But I don't personally care if everyone else can reforge or get their weapons custom made or whatever, I'm just thinking about my own experience in the game.
I want something to chase, something to be excited about when I see a purple engram or get a faction package.
Reforging was a horrible idea, and while the previous/upcoming system probably isn't perfect, it's better than reforging.

I actually don't think reforging, as it is, is perfect either. I added some stuff to the bottom of my post about that. But anyway, it's all about perspective. Remember that each weapon type gas different archetypes, like the felwinter vs. the dry rot. Each of those can serve different purposes and can go better with different perks. And that's depending on opinion. There's stuff to explore. Now, if you're the kind of guy that needs something to chase that this can't provide, well, that's really all there is to it.

Yeah, I just felt like sure I want a benevolence, but once you get one then that's about it. You never will get excited about a benevolence drop again. Back when chasing a good longbow, each one could drop with good perks bit different perks and not perfect, and you'd have a choice to make, plus the next time that special blue engram drops you get a little excited.

True, and I've got nothing for that, since I'm arguing for the opposite of that. If you can't part with that lottery game, then we just stand on different sides.

Ah, yeah indeed. I guess I'm viewing it only from my background in things like WoW, and more so Diablo.
